http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=23010 the rb30 is a bit taller so custom engine mounts will be in line if you want it to fit under the hood.... i would go with a stand alone ems fro the ease of tuning... if you go with the stock ecu you will have to get it tuned every time you make a change. good luck...BTW pretty much anything involving a rb20, 25, 26 will apply to the rb30.

My .02 cents This site was started in the beginning as strictly a technical forum on various swaps and how to make the Z perform well above its peers and anything else on the road. If you want to post stuff that has nothing to do with cars i would suggest going to one of the other z car sites that has this going on all the time. Im not baggin on anyone. Just pointing out what im seeing. I personnally dont come here as much as i did ... not becasue i dont like it just alot of off topic stuff going on. I would never leave but i feel if we keep going inthe direction we are the guys that built this site will lose interest in running it.

get them cleaned and flow checked. I would almost guarentee that is your problem... dirty injectors

I tried them all everyone broke easier then the stock ones. The metal looks like pot metal and probably is not hi quality. I went a year with the stock ones and with no problems till i broke one. After that i broke the "heavy duty" one easier.... i would recommend get havshfts that still have good original u joints.....

6 Speed???? install for 1000? your gonna need an intercooler custom piping, custom exhaust... if you plan on using the ecu ....lots of custom wiring. engine mounts, tranny mounts, custom drivshaft. 5k on the motor? where did he get it from? sounds like BS to me. I dont think you could install everything for 1000 even if you did it yourself. I would be careful if you deal with this guy. If he is telling you 1000 for everything he dosnt know what he is getting into and you may bit it in the end. stony

wow talking about coming back from the dead. this thread was 3 years old till the 16th when it was revived. I was on an IRS trip for a while. spent gobs of money on custom axles modifying my struts to accept supposedly stronger 300z stub shafts. (26 spline) and a group of other things i felt would make it bulletproof. i failed. Now the car is in the shop getting a 8.8 with 35 spline axles, spool, 4.56 gears, billet caps, aluminum diff cover and wilwood disc brakes ladder bars, and fully adjustable coilover shocks. the rear end will measure 54 inches from the 2 wheel mounting surfaces. this will allow me to fit my 275 50 15s under the small overfender i have without having to doing an mini tubs. the car will look just as it does now except the rearend will not break when i launch Im going to install a 2 step so i can launch consistently at 4000rpm

scottie what about the motor itself. is it the same? or is built different and wont withstand the same HP as an 87? Im kinda curious on this myself. would it make the same horsepower just need to add an intercooler?

I cant remember the exact mods but they were all bolton for less then 1800.00 and my buddy here in alaska got 474RWHP and is running 11.1xx at 126 MPH!!!! on BFG DR.

ummm jdm 13btt???? they are the same. with the exception of maybe some external parts and maybe the computer tune. besides that they are the same. mazdatriz and racingbeat all have the parts you would need to fix anything

what size springs? obviously 550 LB'ers arnt going to work and where can you get those inserts?

I would do it just to say i was one of the first to do it. I had a 89 FC3S and loved it. It was a ported motor with a t04S and it kicked ass. i did blow it 3 times but that is a rotary. If you keep the stock turbo on it and tune it right it will last just as long as a pistom motor. if you put a big turbo on it and tune it right it wont last as long as with the stock turbo but it will last a while. if you dont tune it right you will blow it first time it detonates... that is not an exageration. this goes for anyone tuning a rotary... if you are starting from srcatch with a motor tune do it on a dyno. If you lean knock its over. anyways back to your question. yes do it. it will be a kickass car. i was actually very close to pulling the RB26 and doing the rotary. i just have too much money in this conversion to undo it for a rotary.
