  1. Did you set/sync the carbs with the car running and the throttle linkage loose? Setting the butterflies is the first thing to do, then start tuning. I have always found the idle screws to be about the same number of turns with little variance.
  2. It is a "at what price" vs "do I need it" issue. A choice! I use synthetics because I have seen the difference quality lubricants make in 25 years of turning wrenches and playing in motorsports. I spend good money to put something together right; I will spend good money to protect it. Don’t forget about air & oil filtration, fuel dilution and moisture. All of these and more play a very important part in any lubricants serviceable life. Educate yourself so you can make informed choices. One thing to look at is full synthetics are designed in a lab to operate within certain parameters. Petroleum oils / semi-synthetics are pumped from the ground and chemicals added so it can be a useable lubricant. Not all lubes are made the same. There is a simple & informative test you can do on what ever lubes you choose to see how they hold up. An oil analysis The tests return a good amount of data as to what’s going on inside the engine, not just the properties of the lubes. Do a test at the beginning & end of your oil usage to get good start & end data. You might even find some other issues with your equipment.
  3. Well said! I do go to classiczcar to ck out their photos.
  4. What a nice setup thats going to be. Sexy car, nice power.
  5. I have found on the 45`s that 32mm chokes with the right jetting works well with a mild build L-series motor. The 36mm choke sizing is good info for a well built L-series motor. I have some 36mm ckokes for 45 dcoe carbs if someone is interested. I am looking for six 34mm chokes for the 45 dcoe setup. Wanta trade?
  6. Thats nice! Man it would be a sweet ride around Summit.
  7. I picked up an 89-00 frontier p/u 2.4 litre 2x4 and have been looking for a header. I have only found a couple low quality "department store" headers. Has anyone purchased a good header for these trucks and where did you get it?
  8. SalemZ, there is a shop in Yorktown that could do the struts for you. And has lots of Z car race prep knowledge to boot. Contact me off line if you want the number.

Is the fuild coming from the top vent or some where around the cover? Install a hose on the top vent and carry it up and mount it higher. You must be hooking pretty good.
  10. Using the S12+8 Toyota 4x4 calipers with stock (solid / non-vented) rotors is bolt-on! No spacer is needed between the hub and the rotor. However' date=' you might need a spacer between the wheel and the hub.[/b'] I used a (off the shelf) 1/4" spacer from a local parts house to space the wheel out for caliper clearance. You will need longer front wheel studs if you have to use a spacer.
  11. FYI. . . I mounted my S12W calipers (using the stock mounting tabs) and they fit under two of three sets of my 14x7" wheels (using a 1/4" spacer (from pepboys) between the hub and wheel). There is only a small amount of clearance though. I could not get access to the thrid set.
  12. I ran the S12+8 calipers (w/stock solid rotors) under 14x7 wheels. I had to add a 1/4" spacer between the hub and wheel for clearance. Bolt on other than that. I have a set of the S12+8 calipers listed in the forsale section.
  13. Does anyone know the diameter of the front 5 lug 300zx (z31) front rotors?
  14. You are a fortunate man Mike Kelly!
  15. Congrats!!! I`m sure you will "get it done".
  16. Hey jkube, What front air damn is on Brians Turbo ? Where did it come from? It apears to have more of a forward rake to it than others.
  17. There is alot of air that gets sucked into the cowl panel. This would work as well as a cold air intake out front I would think.
  18. Here is the link Early Z Aerodynamics
  19. Actually air is sucked into the vents on the cowl panel not exhausted. I closed off two of the three vents on my cowl panel, leaving the small vent on the pass side open to pull air into the cabin. There is as much air flow with just the one vent open as with all three vents opened. You can see some pixs here Pulling air from the cowl panel would work great for cowl induction!
  20. I removed the stock pro valve and mounted my adjustable pro valve inside on the trans tunnel. You can see the pro valve mounting and brake line mods here
  21. They would need to be forward, the strut tube will be in the way for rear mounted calipers.
