Hanns, While they both look great to me, the clear does have a certain coolness to it. Although the polished one does match better. Is the plexi durable enough?
Well, if I was doing this project, I would pursue option 1. The stock HP is enough for most street driving, but the turbo is there when you mash the pedal! Anyway, good luck on whatever you decide.
Yeah, I am a fan of 80's music as well. Jake Geils band, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Kim Carnes, Sly Fox, Thomas Dolby, Tears for Fears, Animotion, Soft Cell, Dexy's midnight runners, etc., etc. The list goes on and on.......
I was making an alternator bracket for my "camel-head" SBC many years ago.
Well I was in a hurry to go cruising, and in stead of clamping the piece of flatbar into the vise 10 ft. away, I proceeded to hold the metal down in my left hand on the bench. So, drilling the pilot hole, while applying too much pressure, the drill bit breaks and the drill goes down and almost drills a hole through the webbing of my left hand between the thumb and finger..........OUCH!!!
You might want to try using a cheap socket just slightly smaller than the lock lug. Then you hammer the socket onto the lug and remove with ratchet or breaker bar. Sometimes you can hammer the lug out and reuse the socket.
I have used this trick in the past and it has worked great for me, although I won't guarantee it working for you.
Good luck.
Well, your Z may be totaled, maybe repairable, just think about it for a couple of days. If the shell itself is a waste, hang onto the car and find a better shell and swap the parts over. You may even end up with a nicer Z than you have now. If you decide to let it go, I am sure many of us would take it off your hands and rebuild it with another shell. Do not rush your decision. Just be thankful nobody was hurt. I know and feel your pain, as I had a similar experience once.
Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with your decision.
Stay strong, and rebuild!!!
