  1. IIRC the N42 compression ratio isn't that high, something like 8.25:1(don't quote me) that compression really isn't that high, but it is a bit higher then the P90. This will give you more off the line torque and won't have as much turbo lag.
  2. Why swap heads? Is there something wrong with the N42?
  3. I'll let you know within the next 2 or so months, but other then that all I can tell you is that it fits in the engine bay, and it looks MASSIVE compared to the stock t3
  4. I have not been successfull in finding a map for this paticular turbo. And even if I did I have yet to learn to read a compressor map. Could somebody find this map and tell what the FLOW, PRESSURE RATIO, SURGE FLOW, and EFFICIENCY. This is for desktop dyno in case you want to know. BTW, can somebody make a sticky on howto read a turbo map? And teach me howto find these variables in the map?
  5. The movie GHOST. Right when the demons come to take Willie, right after he got hit by the cars.
  6. I believe you can just use a throttle cable. The only problem with this is that you loose all traction control, well, not really problem, more of a benifit.
  7. oooo. your talking about the head pipe, or atleast thats what I always called it.
  8. If this is a stock manifold, and it was welded once already, I'd trash it now. Cast iron is hard to weld, specially if new metal has to be introduced. Headers arn't that expensive, even from MSA. You can easily find manifolds in the junkyard. If not I'm sure someone on here will give you theres for the price of shipping. If I still had mine I'd give it up, but it broke while I was taking it off.
  9. Hes not worrying about wieght savings, but just it being ugly. I think its ugly too, and a PITA when removing bolts. I just got my N42 intake in, and I'm glad I did, really cleans up the engine bay.
  10. I too just got an H1e not too long ago for the Z, yours doesn't seem to have a wastegate either. Mine didn't come with one. Its a round 4-bolt flange if you don't use the wastegate, I planned to use an external piece so the wastegate meant nothing to me.
  11. You HAVE to use the turbo AFM if you plan on using the stock wiring. If you use the N/a AFM it will act as though your hitting redline at 4000rpm, it won't rev past that at all.
  12. gotcha, guess I got it mixed up too.
  13. Your talkin about the 1.5JZGTTE, that is what they call it
  14. This thread doesn't work for me, this is the second time I've tried to access it this week and nothing. Is this just me, or is everyone else getting this too.
  15. I don't see any of the pictures either, just 147
  16. I was gonna try doing this setup after my friend had told me getting single barrel carbs are pretty cheap. All I could find though was like 30-35's so that didn't seem like it would be worth it. Now if I could find some 40's, then I'd do it.
  17. They completely took out the core support?!? Well, I guess that would solve my intercooler problem, but is this a good idea?
  18. 6k including shipping and everything, that is a STEAL of a deal. How about getting it registered and such? If I had 6k to spend, I'd buy one-unless someone is willing to buy my 280z?
  19. Its 280zforce http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7116469289492115591&hl=en http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5294293984978772188&hl=en
  20. You sure? I set my firing order and timing per haynes, and it ran great. I still remember it off the top of my head too 1-5-3-6-2-4 in ccw order.
  21. get a holset turbo, there pretty cheap to come by, and rebuild kits are fairly cheap just the same. They bolt right up and there massive. I got a holset H1e and I am impressed that for like 55 bucks I got a very nice piece.
  22. By the size of that turbo I would think that it shouldn't have been boosted past 15psi. Nothing but hot air.
  23. Tell me if I'm wrong on this, but this is what I was always told. For a rule of thumb, every 100 pounds you take off the car, will drop a tenth in the quarter. But for every 10 pounds you take off the rotational parts of the driveline, it will drop a tenth.
  24. We could try again, where only administrators make the final desicions of what happens, but the board itself gets to give opinions. I had a very straight Z that I would be willing to donate to the build. I posted this in the V8 forum, but not everyone reads it.
