  1. My school uses one of those in our formula hybrid car. But for $1600 I can make a custom aluminum dash, flock it, and load it with gauges.
  2. I'm a fan of the mishimoto warrranty. I've had their radiator and it worked great.
  3. I didn't use any rtv and it was ok for me 10k miles later. The MSA gasket is fine, but I think I actually used a felpro one when I did it bcause I didn't like the material of the msa gasket. Gasket side doesn't matter, I believe it's curved just because of the sheet they print it out from. Torque is in the fsm, but I tightened as much as I could with a 3/8's ratchet or a short wrench, just don't overdue it. Leaving the heat shield will help, but I never used one, I had coated headers with an N42 shaved intake above and never had any problems in my ZX. I had to use the 6-2-1 headers, and I brought the y pipe to my muffler shop and they shortened it all there before I installed them. The headers I had tucked up above the frame rails, so they didn't scrape. My 260z with 6-1 headers did scrape at the rear of the exhaust system because whoever made it sucked, the headers were never a problem.
  4. The original color scheme reminds me of Bluestreak from transformers
  5. There should be studs there. It makes it a heck of a lot easier to remove and replace the manifolds. You can clean it with a scotch brite pad and a hard plastic scraper. Razor blades work also
  6. The engine, tranny, and diff are really the only things that will work. Everything else is specific to the ZX. That being said, the front strut tubes and brake calipers are usually used by 510 guys doing coilover conversions if you know any in your area.
  7. Cheap? i remember paying like $50-60 for mine several years back. It was the oem piece though, not an autozone brand.
  8. Lol ls7 for under 2K with a tranny? These are 14k crate motors, there is no way its a real ls7. or it has a piston through the side of the block.
  9. Honestly you're going to be hard pressed to find 17's that wide anywhere. For those widths you're looking at an 18/19" wheel or like a 15". Other companies that you could check out are Volk and SSR. You could probably buy barrels and a face and make a 3 piece that wide yourself. I'd also check out http://wheelflip.com/ and try and give them a call.
  10. 5 speed swap can be easy/hard depending on your knowledge. You need everything from the clutch pedal to the driveshaft jsut to be safe. How is the diff broke? it's an open dif, not an lsd. I can swap out a diff in about 2 hours.
  11. I have seen pics of the woodvillage car and they used a cusco-looking bar as the core support. Welded on the correct brackets to the sides and they have tabs to mount their radiator to it.
  12. Well what do you have done to the car? Some insurance companies will work with you if you can prove that the car is worth more through receipts. But then again you sorta did this by yourself and it could have been avoided.
  13. Wait you had a cage in, and then you took it out? do you have pics of where is was mounted?
  14. Nice work. You should look into shaving the intake and removing components that you don't need. and get some headers, that will make the engine bay look great. For the airdam you should also get 240z turn signals and a 240z grill. Will look amazing.
  15. I know the early ZX only has 4 rubber lines, while the later model has 6. not sure if the other rear hose is correct though. It's been like a year since I've redid my brakes
  16. It weighs less than a Turbo L28 with a tranny. Wth man.
  17. You can download a FSM from xenons30.com. you can also get a Haynes manual. It won't show everything but will definetely help. The L28 makes around 150hp stock. In my car, that felt amazing. In a fully loaded 280z, probably not as much. Building an NA model will be expensive, building a turbo L28 will be less expensive and can net some nice hp. Parts have never been hard for me to find fo the engine in comparrison to parts for the actual body/car.
  18. You would need to have your own flange cut. I believe the exhaust exit is something like 1.5 inches or some stupid small opening, which is why the 2.5" won't work.
  19. There are people running 275 slicks up front, of course that is a track car only kind of deal. I am using 235's on my 280zx with a manual rack and don't have any issues. Just sore arms after and autocross day.
  20. I had a friend that got hit by a fullsize truck on the front corner from someone that was running a red light through the intersection. He spun twice and had a pretty much stock 240z. He had had a broken collar bone and wrist but was pretty much ok. Tony D knows the full story better than I and I think has pictures.
  21. No one makes a fg stock shaped hatch do they? With a fg hood and hatch you could save like 50 pounds
  22. I'd put a flat plate there. mine has rust, but I hit it with a wire cup and sprayed it with primer/paint. It literally does nothing for me since I don't keep a spare in the car. Battery relocation seems like a cool idea.
  23. Definitely look into a fan shroud. It makes a world or difference
  24. Stuff has been moving slow, The machine shop told me one of the head studs was JB welded inplace so the block was fubar. Found another locally for $50 off zilvia and dropped that off last week. Still no word on it. Recently did a 5lug/z32 brake conversion on my s13 daily. It's a lot more fun now. I've also gathered all the parts needed for the 5 speed swap so that will be happening sometime soon. Also sold my CBR to fund the engine build.
