  1. Soak it with wd40 or pb blaster. Then tap the end with a hammer while you apply torque to it
  2. Go with a tad higher comp and a bigger cam. I would trim the P90 down since it has a better quench zone and run a bigger cam. I was running the stage 4 msa cam with an f54 flattop with an e88. And that car was most definitely fun. Did have to turn the timing back
  3. That's the stage 2 the am from MSA correct? I've seen it run in a pretty much stock 280zx. He said it livened it up. He was using stock efi though not carbs. You can run it, but what are your desired goals? You might put it in and find out it just isn't cutting it and then you'll have wasted your money.
  4. Seriously the stock ex mani will do even more than 500hp. If you want distributorless you have to go with megasquirt. If you want to go distributor less you would probably want to regrind your cam for more top end( the stock dizzy should be good till 6500rpm). Spend money on porting the head and intake. But you could get 300hp from a stock system( upgraded turbo with an intercooler) with just megaquirt keeping the dizzy. This has been discussed a lot. This thread may get locked.
  5. or an RB http://speedhunters.com/archive/2010/10/22/car-feature-gt-gt-the-rb25-mazda-roadster.aspx Monster Miatas are crazy.
  6. Not too far off from that this semester. One of my classes is using a book written by the head of my department, Albert Helfrick( for all you Avionics guys) and my professor said wait till the new edition comes out to buy it, Brand new. Eff that I bought a used previous edition.
  7. You're a freshman? I thought you were older. Anyway I get as many of my books online through friends. Most not all. Also I wait till the first day of class to ask the prof if we will be using the book for anything other than "reference". I do keep the math books though. Formulas can be tricky as hell. Your professors are idiots to use an online math system. Thats bs. Although if you are feeling stuck wolfram does help out some. And tuition is always lame, always will be, I go to Embry Riddle in Daytona and it sounds a lot like my school. By your 3rd year you'll get the hang of it
  8. How did that happen? I was driving around for 2 years with a clutch fork that had a hairline crack in one of the arms and it held up for 20k( with 3 cross country trips in between). Also you can get the z32 fork I believe( its a little beefier, same design)
  9. Its the firewall heat shielding/ sound deadening crap. For the future use a little smaller pic.
  10. Keep it a stock DD. headers and a shaved intake wont do anything but look cool for the most part. Maybe 10hp if your lucky(assuming you don't have a clogged rusted exhaust system already). Also if you can pass the sniffer most smog places wont care( at least were I'm at). If you get a real **** who looks for any little thing then you get boned. Edit: I've had to smog 2 280zx's and neither of them cared that I had some lose wiring from deleting Cruise and AC and stuff, although all the smog provisions were there( egr was hooked up). Just my .02 edit again: after I moved to FL I realized how awesome not having emission laws are.
  11. Cost: depends on what your're looking for, a project or a runner Performance: again depends on what your looking for, track car or daily Fuel efficiency: please its a 40 sports car. It is very possible to have great mileage but that is probably very few peoples first though Reliability: depends on what your looking at, solid body, strong engine etc. Most people who buy a car on here have plans to mod the thing anyway so its not an issue since they are going to make it reliable themselves. I already got my hands on my projects, so if I were to buy another Z I would want it to be a runner, not have issues, working etc. Although it would be hard not to do minor mods like shocks and bushings etc.
  12. I think the rep system is disabled
  13. Very noobish. But.... 1. It is not an l28(unless he had bored/stroked it) 2. I believe one SU mani has a passage for water lines, I don't think there is an advantage to one or the other for stock HP goals 3. The good SU's have a round top, as opposed to the evil flattop design( they literally have a flat top) 4. Not unless you crack the engine, it would be cheaper to buy a known L28. You have some knowledge which is more than I can say for a lot of posts.
  14. Its still cheaper to get the pair through JohnC. Plus you know that his will fit with minor trouble.
  15. I've been looking at that thing on CL for like a year or two now.
  16. How much did this cost the customer? or whats the average price of a swap? Edit: Checked out the website. I may be interested in a sr20 swap in the future....
  17. Look in the section for trannies and speed cogs http://datsunzgarage.com/engine/index.htm
  18. Just get the tokico illuminas and tokico springs, if you want a lower ride run some 205/50/15 tires. Thats exactly what I was running and here are some shots of it. I was very happy with how it handled.
  19. Bronze looks pretty sick too. Check out ktm's car. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?app=gallery&module=images&section=viewimage&img=18668
  20. You should have gotten one for each wheel.
  21. At first I thought it was a peppermint, but then I saw the rising sun
  22. I just moved back to Daytona Beach and I'm looking into getting some track time with my 280zx. I'm not as familiar with Florida tracks as I was with SoCal Also if there are any local Z clubs that would be nice to know. I saw the Central Florida Z car club and I think its the closest.
  23. You know you own a Datsun when the project never ends
