  1. I was within 3 seconds of some s2000's ( a lot I know, but they're freaking S2000's) and beating some BMW's today. I have a pretty much stock engine, but highly modified suspension. I would love to have your engine. I could probably take them then. I would suggest that you first get some actual time behind the wheel at some events. This was only my second event and I was running in the novice class. Talk to the instructors, they are their to help and teach you. A decent suspension upgrade is the tokico HP shocks and tokico springs, along with a swaybar kit. That and your 15" tires should defiantly get you going. Hawk also makes pads for 280zx brakes just search for them. Everything I just listed is literally just remove and replace.
  2. I want to see a shirt that saw we are driven, or awesome or some other corny catch phrase.
  3. Pulling on Porsches all day long. I bet they felt butthurt seeing a 40yr old car going faster than them
  4. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/cam/index.htm Duration is the same, but most the other specs are different
  5. You want to do this with the car complete? I know people use it in the breakdown stage to get all the undercoating off. I'm not sure I would even want to do it with a complete car. stuff would fall out of the center console http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1G1TSND_ENUS426&q=240z+on+a+rotisserie&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=7chHT_bCAc-Utwf8q4yaDg&biw=1366&bih=667&sei=78hHT8fqGc6EtgfH54SxDg
  6. Yeah I'm trying to take another of my friends, one that won't ditch hopefully. I don't know if he wants to take his car or not though. I'm also heading out to the millenium mall meet tomorrow also.
  7. Got some Swastikas to throw on for around town commuting. Sucks because I'm just trying them out and I need to take them off again on Saturday for the AutoX this weekend A big con was that when I first put the front on, the tire rubbed on the coilover collars, wtf man. so I had to raid the front by about an inch and a half to make sure they clear. Another con is they look like crap. A pro is that they are wayyyyy lighter than the DRW so it actually feels quicker. And I get better gas mileage. I have gold on one side adn black/grey on the other. Total cost of rims with new tires was about $400 so I'm not really complaining. Might be able to see the horrible gap these rims create My steamrollers This is why I needed some stockers, if you look at the inside (right) I have some bad camber wear from it being lowered not even by that much. I've only had these tires on the car for 4000 ish miles. Total miles on these tires is probably under 6000, if not 5000.
  8. Ok you need a front control arm. Wish I hadn't thrown my old stuff away.
  9. you have one of the nicest Z's. You just need to lower it. This makes me want to do an SR on my 280zx.
  10. I would pay $120 max for that header in that condition. It would cost more to sandblast and coat them. They look almost like my coated headers I got from MSA but the welds on the flange were flat, like it had been decked. Yours look like they left some. not sure why. You may have a thicker flanger also.
  11. In these cars it took like 2 min with a razor. I just used a box cutter and jammed it in the old seal and went around the edges. popped it out from the inside. I then took it to a glass guy to re-install it with a new seal. That cost about $100 for just the front. You should defiantly take out the windshield anyway to inspect for rust. if you have even a tiny bit it will spread and ruin your paint job ( in time).
  12. If you want full 3in, just cut the MSA header back. It transitions from 3" to 2.5" really roughly
  13. Get an RB. Get an N1 block. Hit 800hp all day long. ?????? Profit. I would actually go for an sr20 because of weight and they are significantly cheaper than RB's and LSx's, but I'm not planning on getting close to 500hp.
  14. I def need to start building a turbo block.
  15. That shouldn't worry you. My friend just had his tank drained on his 79 fairlady, and man, it had at least a handful of rust flakes at the bottom.
  16. Lol I saw that Z in person racing on that same exact street. Its damn fast.
  17. Justin( zforce) was running these specs -Fronts: 17x9.5" (0 offset / 5.25" backspace & for the fan boys who must know - 3.5" lip) with 275/40/ZR17 - BFGoodrich g-force T/A KD (extreme performance tires) (11" of total track width each) -Rears: 17x10.5" (-12 offset / 5.27" backspace & for the fan boys who must know - 4.5" lip) with 315/35/ZR17 - BFGoodrich g-force T/A KD (extreme performance tires) (12.5" of total track width each) He was using his own bamf flares, this thread has some pics of fitment. I don't know his suspension setup though. http://www.zdriver.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31284
  18. If your doing good in core classes by not a math class drop it like its hot, take up a social studies to boost your gpa and retake statistics at a community college. I'm finishing my third year at Embry riddle and its hard, but I know I can do it.
  19. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/105011-rota-rb-r-17x95-on-all-4-how-large-of-tires-will-fit/ bjhines says he can only run 245's with his suspension setup. We need to know your setup. My opinion, but if you only want to run a 245/255 I would get a 8-9in wheel.
  20. If you have the chance I would also try and get a turbo oil cooler adapter sandwich plate thing. Never know how that might come in handy. More expensive than just replacing the regular one though.
  21. Throw an OS giken in that and it will be a killer autoxer or short track diff.
  22. Another valid point is the amount of stress on the welds. If it decides to unweld itself when your going 70mph on the freeway, your diff will lock up and you better start praying
  23. There is a guy down my block who ownes a 240z and daily drives it about 40 a day. I've never see that car on jackstands at his house, while he has had his 90's merc up a few times. The condition is pretty bad, surface rust and what not. But it has never failed him. I was driving my 260z around in stock form while I was going to high school. Never quit on me once. I bought it for $5000 though. Its definitely possible to DD an S30, but don't be buying someones former project. But seriously think about creature comforts. Everyone has a point saying you can do it, but think about it heavily. I would take my dads saturn when I need to go carry anything more than a person and a few bags of stuff.
