Agreed RB25. These motors love to rev already. If you really want it to be more rev happy start looking at 272 cams, valve springs, ATI Damper, N1 oil & water pumps, free flowing exhaust, ect. Better use of your money IMHO.
Clint,
I actually knew that; just typed too fast. My son has been watching the movie Cars from Pixar a lot. At the end of the movie they show several other Pixar films where the former 'Cheers' actor that played Cliff does voiceover. I had that stuck in my head. Funny!
I would also add another great trick is to bring a fridge magnet with you. The soft kind you slap on the fridge. Place it at multiple spots all over the car and if it doesn't stick then you have thick bondo and/or other hidden problems.
If you haven't sourced your engine yet hit up Karim aka "Racer98" on this forum. Awesome guy and I have hit him up for stuff that was near impossible to get and he came through.
Bear in mind this is not a cheap swap. Lots of other choices much cheaper. RBs are terrific motors but make sure you understand what you are getting into.
Welcome to Hybridz and Good luck,
For sourcing an engine hit up Karim aka "Racer98" on this forum. No BS and an awesome guy. He had a neo RB25 last time I spoke with him. He can also answer your questions about the differences in engines and pans to use. Series 1 and Series 2 use a difference CAS if I remember correctly. I wanted to buy HKS cams from an R34 and couldn't because the CAS was different. All 32 and 33 RB26's are the same and the R34 exhaust cam is different. I have a series 1 and you will find the majority of engines out there to be series 1. I know of two different shops that sell mounts if you need them: Japanese Engine Racing in Westminster CA and Zcargarage in San Jose, CA.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
So did the person that started this thread ever put together a car? Is so what was the swap? I noticed the thread is 19 months old from a high school student that could be halfway finished with college by now.
I noticed Lewis made a few comments about their not being such a thing as a better swap when comparing the RB and SR. Hey, we can throw the L-Series in there too for that matter. I couldn't agree more. To me that is like arguing that a vanilla shake is better than a strawberry one. To each his own. There is a reason this forum is called Hybrid Z. One guy on here has an electric powered Z and even though I would never opt for that setup for my Z; IMO its probably one of the coolest cars on this site.
