  1. Sounds like a drivetrain for a drag car. What are the cam specs? Davy
  2. You got that right. When a car gives you chills and almost scares you in what it can do....it's a keeper Davy
  3. I have heard of guys using the colored rubber bellows from the shocks that you see on those extreme 4X4's. Pink ain't my thing, but the red and blue ones look pretty cool. My only concern, not having actually held one in my hand, is just how thin they might be in comparison to the correct part (read: longevity). Davy
  4. Glenn, the garage is super-nice (where do all the members get these things?) and the car is looking great. Will you be keeping the same color (nice BTW) or going with something different? I think wheels and tires will be very pricey with the new flares and all, but hey, that's what money is for!! Keep us updated with pics Davy
  5. Awesome thread, Tyson. I love the PS for the front airdam--sweet. Keep at it, bro. Davy
  6. Tim, are they T3s or T4's, or a T3/T4 hybrid?? I think 2 Garrett T4OE (or something in the T4Ox family would be the hot ticket for him to replace what he has. Davy
  7. I would think that the central valley in general is full of performance engine builders who can do what you want. The nice thing is, you can make a few phone calls. Try picking up a DRIVE! magazine and look for ads for engine builders. There are so many local advertisers in there for just about everything, that it is great, even better than the Internet in some cases. Not everyone has or needs a website. Davy
  8. http://www.betamotorsports.com/products/240StrutKit.html http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/ Both John Coffey and Ross Corrigan are reputable people to deal with. I have met both of them and they have been around for a long time, especially John, he's old. Davy
  9. Most steel wheels can be widened; Stockton Wheel does this all the time. Alloy wheels, on the other hand, can be widened if they are 3 piece. I have not seen a place that will cut and widen a 1 or 2 piece alloy wheel. There have been several threads on this topic. Davy
  10. Does it not seal correctly? It must be fairly skewed out of place for you to want to mess with it. I'm not sure the heat gun is the best application--the rubber doesn't really have plastic characteristics to it. I'm thinking of something crazy, like removing it and then reversing the placement, so that you run it the other direction, that way the flat/squashed part is not being crushed the same way. Eh, I'd have to see it... Davy
  11. Terry built the car as a racer and converted back to street; it's really a racecar for the street now. Stunning fabrication, really. He's a great guy to boot and is a regular member! I think Terry exemplifies what the cooperative HybridZ spirit is all about on this site. Davy
  12. buZy, Excellent sheetmetal work. That's one of the nicest cell mounts I have seen so far, and believe me, I have seen quite a few. Props for that!! Davy
  13. I have a mechanic friend that used ATF to unfreeze a Toyota pickup motor. Not only did it unfreeze the motor, the truck ran fine for years after that not needing a rebuild. Amazing. I knew the owner of the truck and the mechanic personally, so I know this can be done. Severe smoking afterward due to burning off of the ATF was an issue for a little bit, but nothing bad after that. I would try MMO instead since that seems to be a more popular choice. Plus, it probably won't smoke as much. Davy
  14. That is truly funny! Factory wings don't usually count because they're smaller and usually have some aero research behind them, such that the wings give slightly better gas mileage and/or downforce in many cases. Davy
  15. Each box will feel like Christmas all over again. Money: the gift that just keeps giving. Davy
  16. Deja, I personally like the plates being close to the block, since the other way, the plate end up between the motor mount and the spacer--to me that just looks odd, but it's a personal choice and "whatever works" is best ultimately. Good luck with your install. Davy
  17. I don't like it--not only is it annoying with the moving pics, the content is very difficult to explain to my young daughters who do walk up behind me and look over my shoulder... It's in poor taste in my opinion and not relevant to this site, really. If I get enough complaints, I'll be forwarding a request to modify it. What about something else? Didn't you have you rap album on there before? Davy Edit: you had complaints personally emailed to you or an admin already contacted you? If you had complaints personally emailed or PMed to you, give 'em credit for going to the source first.
  18. The recessed plate area looks well done. I'm sure the kit will look great on the car too. Colors? Inquiring minds want to know! Davy
  19. Mine are made of 3/8 steel, not aluminum, but the twisting or force on them runs down the crest of the plate, not side to side, so I doubt it will cause any problems, especially since the motor and tranny are triangulated between the engine mounts and the tranny mount. Davy
  20. I just showed my wife. It's nicer than our house. I think living here in a hovel is more expensive than having an estate in Yakima. Nice place! Makes me look forward to a positive future change. Davy
  21. The thread is almost a year old guys Eh, who knows? Maybe he's still on here. Davy
  22. Go for a Chevy driveshaft and use an adapter for the diff (JTR). Just wisdom alone makes one think of using the V8 driveshaft! Davy
  23. Andy, not knowing your cams specs makes is a little difficult, but the performer will work, as will the Air Gap manifold--both work right from idle to about 5500 rpm. The Performer RPM is for more aggressive cam profiles and is good in the 1500 - 6500 rpm range. You always want to have your intake and cam "matched" so that you'll stay in the powerband through your engine's most usable range. Since you apparently have a torque based cam, a good guess would be to use the Performer or Air Gap. You almost won't go wrong with either one of them. 5500 rpm is plenty for most V8s in a Z car. That's just my $.02 Go get 'em!! Davy
  24. My spacers are against the block and they do not interfere with the headers. My personal opinion is that it looks better that way if you can do it. Davy
  25. Looks like you have them correct. I went out and checked my engine to make sure. Looks good. As far as bolts are concerned, I bought ones just long enough to go through. Take them to the hardware store with you. It makes it easy. Davy
