z-hag
it was grinchmas here this year--i got a broken daily driver Z31, a fixed cat that wasnt broken, no income for x#months while awaiting my ssdi approval, no incoming phone calls, and a friend came over to share my green split pea soup i made for dinner--so it is a season for less tangible items this......... Armand
olderthanme, it's going to be a dual purpose street/track car. Just focusing on handling handling and handling. I live in Calabasas, CA and there are some of hte best canyons in the nation 10 minutes away from me. Me and my buddies are always up there on the weekends versing WRX's, Mini's, Beemers, Porsches(always slow old people driving them, no offense old people ) Lotus's, bikes, and pretty much anything. What I really want to do is beat this guy I know, who will take on anyone in the canyons for $5,000. He just has a stripped 97 BMW 318 with some sticky tires. I just want to shut him up. z-hag
yeah--i shared my grinchmas dinn-dinn with a friend--always good to reactivate the spirituality of the holiday....the commercialistic side gets way too outa control......
bschiltz
My wife got me a new wedding ring. Believe me, the fact she still wants to get me one beats any gift any one else has posted so far. 4th ring and counting. I got a tattoo after the third one, but still like to see that shiny piece of metal. This one is stainless steel! You can do that sort of thing with a 4th ring. If there's a 5th, look for a mokume ring, very cool! I got: 6" Bench grinder 2 pair Mechanix gloves Heavy duck pants for hunting Columbia "Wild Marsh(?)" jacket for hunting A new sweatshirt/hoodie A 280z t-shirt Axe spray/shower gel Some cash and gift certificates, too. Mikelly
I opted for the "TOM BOON" Titanium band when it came to wedding bands... It was about $160 5 years ago and has held up remarkably well... Tom Boon is a bicycle component maker in Florida. He takes titanium scrap and makes jewlry out of it. You can find him online if he's still in business... Mike
naviathan
Tis the season to be thankful for good friends, even if they are sharing the only food you've got left, at least they're there. Not everyone can say they have friends. Aside from my online Z enthusiasts that I do consider my friends at a distance my wife and I don't have anyone else. We tried making friends at work, but those friendships always seem to go awry and cause problems in the office. But, we have each other and family, and that's what counts. naviathan
yeah--i shared my grinchmas dinn-dinn with a friend--always good to reactivate the spirituality of the holiday....the commercialistic side gets way too outa control...... I know the feeling. The commercialization of the holidays kills me. My wife, being the last of four kids and everyone's little girl, is spoiled and thinks that we should buy presents for anyone and everyone. It takes a huge hit on the pocket book and I just can't get it through to her that it's not what you buy people or they buy you, it's just the people. But, we're young and she's several years younger than I and hasn't been through the things I have. She'll hopefully come around and understand as time goes on. naviathan
Well, my gathering for the year was a grill set, Antique leather top desk, 1950's motorola AM/FM record player (I like antiques and things that are soon to be antiques), Denim Harley Jacket, DA Sander (thanks Mom!), a knife set for the kitchen, a gift certificate to IHOP (Love that place) and most importantly a happy wife. I can't complain about anything and would have been happy with the last gift only.
veritech-z
I've also got a titanium ring (don't be fooled, you CAN scratch titanium!)
Ledphoot
Nav, I understand about the spending... My wife just wants to make everyone happy so she tries to give everyone she makes eye contact with a gift!! Plus we don't have kids so she directs that energy (and cash) at 3 already spoiled rotten nephews..LOL As far as friends go, both hers and mine have all moved away in the last year so it has been weird this year not having cookouts and gamenights... Were not much for church and not hardcore party people either so its hard to find others to hang out with at our age.. I'm 40, she's a tad younger... Maybe we can get some of this Z bunch in NC together sometime...
Mikelly
I've also got a titanium ring (don't be fooled, you CAN scratch titanium!) Couple factors would be involved there. You "CAN" stretch any metalic material, given the right variables... Mine's about a 1/16th of an inch thick and about a 1/4inch wide. I don't think I'll have issues...
