Administrators BRAAP Posted August 11, 2007 Administrators Share Posted August 11, 2007 ..... The way I see the cheapest way to get that exotic sound is the destroked single plane SBC. The block would be dirt cheap as would some decent heads, throw in some forged internals, a decent cam/springs and you'd be set. Plus the SBC swap has been down SOOO many times that they will almost bolt right into a Z with off the shelf parts,…. Yeah… ah hem.. uh, well.. stay tuned… ..... I hadn't considered the VH45DE, however the aftermarket support required to make this motor "exotic" hasn't arried for the 45de yet, or if it has i'm not aware of it. Well, sort of. There was/is, the Infiniti VRH35ADE. Though it and the parts that make it what it is, are not in the financial realm of us mere mortals. Here it is with its single plane crank, screaming at 10,700 RPM. The Infiniti VRH35ADE…
Careless
so whats the diff between the VHR and the VRL in the R390?
MoNkEyT88
I've never heard any Hardly that sounded as good as my STI... I mean the Subaru WRX's have a flat four.. and sound like harleys! probably because of the LL RR firing order or something.
Guest Frankendat
Too true. My Ford 302 screams to around 7200rpm, it's built to do it of course, forget BMW I say.
Hey_You
I've heard a Harley sound just as good as an STi, yeah...then it started up and ruined everything. If anything a Scooby sounds like a boat. A non-Harley powered boat. As far as exotic V8's go, I think there is a video on YouTube about a guy with a TVR V8 in his Z. MmMmMm...sounds like cherry pie
MoNkEyT88
Uhh this isnt a V8, but damn.. http://honda-portal.com/honda-videos.php?video_id=
Administrators BRAAP Posted September 19, 2007 Administrators Share Posted September 19, 2007 Uhh this isnt a V8, but damn.. http://honda-portal.com/honda-videos.php?video_id=413 OMG!! That is HOT!!!! The rough idle is reminiscent of a Top fueler idling on Nitro.. Very cool.. I’d like to see more of the car itself. From what little was shown of it, it has a very exotic "super car" look. So that is the RX-7 that was/is stil being produced in Japan but not available here in the states? Is that OE or is that a special one off tuner car? Please excuse my lack of knowledge regarding the Rx7, but that car is incredible.
datsun40146
Now that is a beatiful sound...
Clifton
Sounds F1 ish once the revs come up. Very nice.
Tombarace14
Too bad the 4 rotor is kinda costly to build, someone correct me if im wrong. Cause that just sounds nasty!!! Plus youre looking at 5.2 liters of displacement. I'd also like to see more of that car!!!
Administrators RTz Posted September 19, 2007 Administrators Share Posted September 19, 2007 Uhh this isnt a V8, but damn.. Suhweeet!
Administrators BRAAP Posted September 19, 2007 Administrators Share Posted September 19, 2007 I found another video on that Scoot 3rd gen 4 rotor Rx7. Good shots of the exterior, (in my opinion it's not as exotic as the other video eluded to, still pretty HOT though...) Then I found another 500 HP "all motor" 2.6 liter 4 rotor 3rd gen Rx7 making a sub 10 second run down the strip. The exhaust note is pure... Also found the 4 rotor powered BMW, it had already been posted though....
proxlamus©
um.. this is almost perfect.. i didnt even think of this.. its smaller.. its light weight.. its super high revving.. and loads of power.. and sounds like a hyped up motorcycle.. genious
thatcarguy350
How high can that thing rev to? The sound is most definitely incredible. A little off topic, but I think the Scoot has '03-'04 Infiniti M45 tail lights.
G.I.jonas
sweet thread!!
Mr.INSANE
Technically the motor is not high revving at all, The real top speed of the motor is around 4k but eternal gearing outputs to more like 8k redline Gollum can chime in he knows way more
Administrators RTz Posted September 19, 2007 Administrators Share Posted September 19, 2007 Rotor speed is 1/3 eccentric shaft speed.
Administrators BRAAP Posted September 19, 2007 Administrators Share Posted September 19, 2007 Eccentric shaft, (sort of like our crankshafts), is tach speed. Those 4 rotor beasts definitely sound upward sof 8k+
m4xwellmurd3r
and also it fires 3 times per rotation per rotor, which add's to the sound it makes, right?
510rob
What?!? I guess this one got a bit wet and needed to be hung out to dry...
