  1. isn't that the variable valve system thing? I remember reading something about the 25th anivers. edition 350z having it.
  2. Nuff said http://www.oqo.com/
  3. Yup mill-scale. Use a wirewheel grinder or a mediablaster with finer media. I use sodablasting, or ultra fine silicut (Its what ever is thrown into our hopper tank). With the wirewheel on a grinder. you kinda really have to go at it.
  4. Zinc is considered a heavy metal. Thus heavy metal poisoning. The human body, even though is needs zinc, can die if exposed to too much. You can get heavy metal poisoning from consuming too much iron. Lungs are the most efficient at aborbing elements (in vapor or powder form) (surface area of which can be aborbed), unlike the digestive tract which takes much more time to absorb. Its a matter of higher consentrations in the least amount of time. It throws off the functions of the nervious system of which calcium is needed, the zinc interacts with. Much like in the case of water poisoning (yes you can die from comsuming too much water and not reffering to drowning. and refering to symptoms, but faster arising with water. There a case recently on this). To summerise: Its always better to be safe than sorry. I know of one person that died from HMP (not personally but someone I knew).
  5. Congrates. Wish my g/f would get another car. I would get one for "her" (she would never be driving ), but she would kill me. I alreay have too many. On another note. How come nissan aren't engineering anymore L6 engines. Seems strange since from looking at past engines, the L6 is capable of handling more power, than the v6 from a engineering stand point. Probably wrong in my thought process. Would like to know if I am.
  6. I always like the batmobile for the first movie. That thing was bad a$$. I remembered that someone won the batmobile from the movie with "mr. freeze" in it. don't remember which one that was. Well I remember it being a promotion thing.
  7. I like the main parts of the fortune vielside body kit (the one l28et posted above). The things I don't like are the, way the door panels are, the 2 tone scheme, the riveted look, and the lower section of the rear. Like like the ferari-ish kit, just don't like the rear hatch. I never like the pop-up headlights, anything that converts them to static headlights is always a plus.
  8. Good places to check for collision repairs are, the headlight bucket area inside the engine compartment, rear qtr panels and rear corners. I usually check by placing a weak magnet on and around those sections. more bondo, less magnetism. Obviously won't work with fiberglass parts. For rust, also check the foor planels. might be hidden under the under-coating. Also check for hacked wiring jobs.
  9. Imagine pulling up to somewone in that. hehe . Good excuse to not give people rides either, but no carpool lane
  10. Or you can do the z31 ecu conversion and re-flash that.
  11. Thanks. I might try that, but can't seem to find just the bell housing. I was just planning to measure everything on the l28 (engine and trans) to get the proper distences and clearences with everything and mod the bell housing to match. I know the l28 and KA flywheels are interchangable (if not the same).
  12. Could of been that the glow plugs (deisel) were cold, but she won't know that haha . For me; probably the time when I forgot to put the oil filter on, lol. Besides that, nothing (yet, lol).
  13. I haven't even let my g/f see it yet (only is before photos). Still working on it. As soon as it becomes drivable and legalized, she will be the first one to ride it (I don't think I'll ever let her drive it). Shes never riden in one before though. I want her first reaction to be "oh you just painted it," and then scare the crap out of her, hehe.
  14. That sucks. But gives you an excuse to go tube chassis front, Like what I'm in the process of doing .
  15. I thought acid core solder was made to clean the surface as you are soldering. Oh well A little more cleaning doesn't hurt. They do make a paste for this type of body work with lead for claening the surface. I used flux paste (used for plumbing, and kinda hard to use with type of app) turned out pretty good. And yes use a sander or a course file to sand it down, if you lead load it.
  16. Not a prob. I stated all this before (but in another thread, haha). Oh and another thing, the S14 weighed about 2800 lbs. and the S13 2700 lbs. which is quite close to the 280ZX. As stated from here http://www.project-mayhem04.com/Tech%20Main.html You can drift a 280zx, its just you have to be rough with it and throw it into a slide. My whole opinion on the whole drift thing is; Its just one way of getting around a corner, doesn't mean you have to do it all the time. You waste too much of everthing doing it, time, gas, ware, and rubber. Let me put it this way: Just knowing how to drift isn't going to get you far in motorsports, you (not directed at anyone) should know how to "drive" first, drifting is a good skill to add to ones arenal though .
  17. Its not the price of the unit. its finding one and shipping it up here. There are no junkyards up here selling 240sx parts. Now think how much it will cost to ship a unit to alaska. way more than how much I paid for both of my cars.
  18. Oh I assumed they were bigger holes. Just spot weld them shut with a MIG. Wait like a minute (literally) between tacking, so you don't make too much heat. And it its small enough, I think just lead loading would be easier.
  19. Pretty much what I was saying . The glass I got was from a 76. The previous owner (I assumed) had an accident (78 car) and replaced the door from a 76. Didn't quite close completely. So I bought another door off of ebay and threw it on there. So I have a whole door (glass and all, not good condition, the door that is. Oh I said I was going to post pics of the glass, before. I need to go do that
  20. Yeah I know I can't find it either. From my understanding, you have to fab up a adapter plate. And then adjust something(?) on the input shaft side of the trans, for the throwout bearing or clutch. So for me. I guessing I'm going to have to grind the bell housing to get the distences right, instead of making a adapter plate (spaces the 2).
  21. I say cut a piece of sheet to fit. Use tape to hold it from the back. Tack it, remove tape, then adjust the piece and tack it again. then lead load it. Don't braze it (or brass weld, what ever its called). Its alot harder to shape and requires more heat to melt, might distort the sheet metal.
  22. To my understanding, its the same. just running extra feature. Hardware wise its the same, just different firmware.
