  1. I love the fact that people with LOTS of money can spend it to restore tradition and history of this great nation!! Imagine the lucky sob that gets the restore job!! Payed good money to get to do that, LUCKY!

  6. For what it is worth: 1 and a 1/4 gallon of prestone dex cool 5yr. 150k antifreeze. This was added after a warm drain of the radiator. Some was premixed while the rest was just added straight coolant. (Then drove it around, and reved it to open thermostat and mix as well as I could.) Measured with a prestone coolant tool and it will give you approx. -37F protection. This is a 50/50 mix, recommended by prestone. Boring, but there it is.
  7. 83 turbo 82 n/a My n/a also has a vaccume thingy down below those 3 sensors. Some day I'll have to figure out what it is for.
  8. Considering that he hit 300k and it still runs good, I would say don't worry about the tranny. Seach for the answers for the swap, lots of good info.
  9. I guessed, getting one tomorrow. I will post how good or poor my guess was.
  10. Having to dilute (flush) out old coolent. This will leave me with fresh water in the block. Can anyone estimate the amount of water in the block after just draining the radiator? (I know it will partially drain the block/head as well.) I know this is mundane question but I do not have a coolent checker.
  11. LOL! Do you think they have some of those "killer" bees where he is at?! Or mabey something more exotic? Getting them past customs may present some difficulty.

  13. I know you pressure washed that engine, seems like the head has mabey had been pulled more recent? Anyhow, best to stick with the solid lifters. The cam is different for the solid.
  14. Hydraulics and Fluid Power? Yes. Technically, is that not what you are doing? Conpression (hydralics) / movement of the conpressed air (fluid) Not to mention a few conpressed pigons;)
  15. Just out of curiosity, did the the heat shield and injection fan show up at the same time as the webbing? In my deep discussions of heat sinks for CPUs, my understanding concluded with the idea that aluminum can absorb heat OK, but sheds heat like a mother. Hence the copper bottom heat sinks. Also you remove something from baking that is covered in aluminum foil that is at 350deg, the foil will cool in literally 1 to 2 seconds. Yet you can cover something hot with aluminum foil and it will keep it hot for a much longer time.
  16. As long as you are looking at stock numbers, 200k plus miles. Abuseing it correctly ALOT, 80k. That is the same clutch size that comes with the turbo.
  17. Not metioned to often: Consider meth injection for a higher compression, turbo build.
  18. Maybe you should start managing him. Considerate it a work around. Really, did you not know this would potentially happen? Quit trying to beat him one on one, and consider him a problem in a network that just needs to be worked around, knowing its a constant. Your smart enough to do that. In a way he is kinda trumping you at this point.
