  1. Yepper - I have read some of the threads on the Ron Tyler mount. It was the old 71 240z piece. I have a later model one to replace it, but didn't even think to look at the differences between the two. I have had the same front mount for a year and a half with probably over a 100 launches on it. I do not see any fatigue/stress cracks on it either. Tires are Mickey Thompson ET Streets 26x11.5x16 with ~12 psi tire pressure.
  2. I already posted something in the motorsports section of the forums, but figured that not everyone would see the photos... Anyway, here is the background. I was at the dragstrip, did a good burnout to heat the tires, brought my rpm's up to around 3000, hit the nitrous, held the brakes until the lights came down, and launched at roughly 5500 rpm's at 20+ lbs of boost and the 100 shot on top and blammo!! These are a few photos of what happened... http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=12134&cat=500 http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=12136&cat=500 http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=12135&cat=500 That was definately the hardest I have ever tried launching the car. Here is my setup for those that are unfamiliar, I run a solid diff mount (from MSA) in the front and urethane bushings on the mustache bar. I have a 3.36 R200 LSD, Z31 300zx turbo CV"s, and Ross' CV adapters on stock 280z stub axles. As far as I can tell, the front diff mount pulled up through the front support bar... shown here http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=12199&cat=500 .. then broke the rear cover from the diff (bolts were still attached to the mustache bar), the diff torqued to the right, destroying the driver's side CV. OK, there appears to be no damage to the differential itself (just the cover), no damage to the passenger's side CV, and the mustache bar is not broken either. The driveshaft required a new u-joint... no biggee. I know it could have been much worse. I never even considered that the front support would fail like it did, so I figured I'd better put this over in the drivetrain section, just in case the info is of use to others instead of having it buried in a Motorsports thread about Orlando. I intend to reinstall the R200 for the time being, reinforce another front support prior to installation, while I decide on my next course of action for the rear end. Pax, Mike
  3. Wow, the zebra looks like more of a handful now than before!! Awesome guys!!
  4. Interesting, intercooler tubing is routed under the block to the passenger's side... good idea
  5. If you can, get a motorbike or motorscooter for the event. This way you can go to different areas of the course and not be strapped to one area. (this tip came from friends that have gone to Rally Finland).
  6. Good to see progress being made. Do you need me to send anything to it while it is in jail, maybe some car magazines, or some bolt cutters in a cake
  7. I've always liked the '72 lime-yellow... that's why I chose it when I painted my 71
  8. Welcome and congrats!! I look forward to seeing more of your cars
  9. Good deal Wayne!! I look forward to seeing that beast again. It sounds AWESOME!!
  10. Just incase anyone finds this thread doing a search, I have the arizona zcar front and rear Willwood brake kits. The fronts required a 1" spacer for the 15x4 draglite rim to clear the caliper. I am running ZG flares, and the 1" spacer lines up the fronts well, but I don't know how it would fit with an unflared car. The rear would require a 1" spacer as well to run a draglite in order to clear the brake caliper. I did not feel comfortable putting a 1" spacer on the rear, so for now, my 16" HRE's are doing the job on the rear of the car.
  11. Haven't had an issue with mine now w/ 27000 miles on the clock. I have heard of guys having the clutch pedal "stick" to the floor, but a fresh bleed of the m/c has taken care of it. That is the beauty of a new car... just give it back to the dealer and let them "make it so".
  12. Here are a couple... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TURBO-300ZX-ENGINE-Nissan-LOW-MILES-Motor-300-Warranty_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33615QQihZ016QQitemZ260046013454QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1984-1989-Nissan-300zx-Z31Turbo-Engine-Transmision_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33615QQihZ002QQitemZ120047658567QQrdZ1
  13. Val is a car girl, that's for sure. I bet she still misses the euro 911 though. Hmmm...maybe she bought you the lift so you could do a motor swap on her convertible Enjoy your birthday present Scottie!! BTW, my wife supports my car habit as well... more than she knows, or I care to tell her
  14. Nope, gotta be in the 8.20's or better, or don't bother showing up 'cause you won't qualify !!
  15. I would suggest going here... http://www.supraforums.com ...for all of your Supra related questions.
  16. There are definately quicker "street legal" cars. In fact a bunch of them will be at the World Street Nationals this weekend at Orlando Speed World Dragway.
  17. Which model Walbro is it? Model GSL392 is the one you want. Not all of the Walbro 255lph are created equal. It does sound like it may be clogging though.
  18. Congrats Cyrus!! No wonder yo were side tracked the last 6 months or so
  19. Check with your old buddy James... http://www.speedshopthagard.com and see what he can do for you as well...
  20. I'd say, offer it for sale at the high end of the scale if you are just considering selling it. If it does not get a serious buyer, then it is still yours to keep.
  21. Amazing write-up. It's great you have made this available to anyone considering this swap. This site rocks!!
