  1. Settled in on the location, decided I wanted to add AC, so.... I designed and fabricated a mount and belt tensioning system. Then came up with a shorter belt PS delete main accessory drive. I still need to go get a slightly shorter belt for, the current is just for mock-up. Anyway pics for those who may be interested: Accessory drive:
  2. I highly recommend all of the Carol Smith books Engineer to win Tune to Win Nuts, Bolts, and Fasteners https://www.amazon.com/Carroll-Smith/e/B001H6MCS4/ref=dp_byline_cont_book_1 Also chassis engineering: https://www.amazon.com/Chassis-Engineering-Building-Performance-Handling/dp/1557880557/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1472687573&sr=1-1&keywords=chassis+engineering They are all a little dated but have tons of timeless information in them. -Mike
  3. skirted the rules for a classified post, eh? Three days ago and even a bump, no mod response. hmm..
  4. Nice! Great collection of resources right there. Sticky FAQ material.
  5. Ohh hey, sorry guys, I was a little busy, see my house was underwater. No biggie. That is CRAZY. Sorry to hear this is happening to so may good people in LA. Best wishes.
  6. I may be interested, depending on how the details shake out.
  7. Yikes. I am really sorry to hear that. I have never personally dealt with a flooded car, but I would speculate that the only real way to "repair" it would be do pretty much completely disassemble, remove any corrosion from components and reassemble, or else you may be chasing electrical and mechanical gremlins forever. If you can get WD40 into the cylinders and on components quickly, it should drive out the water and prevent serious corrosion. Best of luck, my friend, -Mike
  8. You can't just go by the color, there are many many different formulations. The wicking, post assembly loctite is 290. Here is a handy application chart: http://www.loctite.com.au/aue/content_data/311083_7129_Application_Wall_Chart_V10.pdf
  9. What about a manual fan in case the electric fan fails?! Kidding aside, you can only take the redundancy so far. There are many many cars on the road with thermostat switches. I would just get a high quality switch and leave it at that. If you are really worried about it, you could order a big heavy-duty toggle switch and wire it from the feed to the output on the relay and use it as a manual bypass, mcmaster has 30amp toggles. Again though, now you have another point of failure, what if the toggle fails closed and you can turn the fan off? It just never ends.
  10. Mikey, what did you end up doing with the vent line?
  11. Well, it is likely that he is back now, that was a tick over 6 years ago.
  12. Beautiful car. I will be happy if my paint looks as good as your engine bay. Great work.
  13. After lots of research and a few good ideas (modified STI shifter with reverse lockout going to micro switch to name one). I have decided that the Samco controller for $100 is probably the way to go. Its automatic, can't accidentally leave it on, you don't have to think about it again, it just works. I think that is the path I will go.
  14. Very appropriate styling, I dig it. Bet they are not light though.
  15. If Bonanni end up not wanting them, shoot me a PM
  16. You seen how wide a GTO is?
  17. I was picturing some sort of driveshaft drive A2W pump or something. A driveshaft intercooler.
  18. Price check please, set of 4 used (lightly) Arizona Z car shocks. Not the whole coil over, but the shocks, billet top parts and threaded rings. Thank you!
  19. SBC is not dead, there are plenty of cheap parts out there and the most cost effective way to reach your goal is probably to use what you have. LS is an all around better platform no doubt, there is 30 years of improvements in the core design. But claiming SBC is dead is bit preposterous. Also consider the time and cost of rewiring and redoing your fuel system. There is a fair amount of expense in hard parts setting up for a LS.
  20. Shoot, would have bought it from you last month...
  21. Sounds like a heck of a trip! I know the ladies are may vito, but Richard Waker Pancake House in San Diego is a fantastic breakfast spot! http://www.yelp.com/biz/richard-walkers-pancake-house-san-diego
  22. Honestly, for the money, I would just order up a full suite of techno toy tuning, flare it, fit as much rubber as you can, and be done. Will it be as unique? No, but it will be a very good handling s30 chassis. If you want really supreme handling and really good street driveability, you are probably looking at another chassis all together. Maybe a C6. Just my opinion of course.
  23. Sounds like a heck of a trip!. See's candy is some of the best candy in the world. It is stupid good.
