  1. My car was pushed over ever so slightly in the same area. I basically bent and beat it back into shape by hand, using a variety of beating and bending tools. Regarding repairing the doors, it is hard to say without seeing the exact doors. If the rust isn't bad, that is probably the easier rout. If the whole bottom is smoked, well then I would go for the other door.
  2. I am pretty sure I saw you on the road in Rohnert Park area.
  3. I am a fan of B is for Build and I like some of what he has done on other cars. That said, completely agree. I admire the go get it attitude and trying to tackle something difficult. However, the chassis is poorly designed and the execution is so so. Not much of an improvement over a Z or an M5. A worse performing mashup of the two.
  4. I totally understand. I am considering wiring a manual override switch to a relay, just in case. But maybe that is a tad paranoid?
  5. I don't know of anyone that makes a full kit. There is also a third bolt on the right rear of that AC box that you can not see in these photos, I wonder how he mounted that one. I mounted mine a tad further back. Which had it's challenges. There is a fair amount of fab work in getting one of these systems to work and fit within the chassis. I built my own compressor mounts, condenser mounts, welded up the old HVAC holes, made new HVAC holes, made up the hoses, made brackets to mount said hoses. Other than welding there was a lot of figuring out and fitting parts. However, I am LS swapped and have other packaging issues. Pancho is a cool dude, me will probably share dimension with you. You could probably get pretty creative with some angle iron, flat bar, and make a mostly bolt together bracket solution for the box under the dash. Or put your parts together and have a friend weld them. Heck mail them to me and I will burn them together for you.
  6. That is what I am running.... Once I get that far.
  7. Nice! Very HybridZ. You should check out Delta Current Control as a way to control the fan. It has many advantages, like controlling inrush which is massive with some fans. That is how I am going to run my Taurus fan. http://www.dccontrol.com/constant_temperature_controllers.htm
  8. I know that a few people here have done that swap. BTW, if anyone is interested I have one with an aftermarket fuel pump in it. I need to get rid of it... cheap.
  9. What is a stub axle eliminator?
  10. Thanks for posting this! Great info. Now, instead of getting work done, I read the entire thing.
  11. Welcome! There is a massive amount of information on this site and really helpful members too. However, I wouldn't expect someone to go source all the info for you. I know it is a bit cliche, but search and read, you will find tons of info. The stickys are a good place to start. You mentioned you want to be competitive. Honestly, an S30 is probably not the most cost effective platform to start with. With that list if desires above, you would probably be money ahead getting a C6 Z06. There have been some amazing S30 track beasts built by members here. Matt Isbell's build with MTI jumps to mind. Good luck, I hope you build a badass S30 and share your process with everyone.
  12. My suggestion, see if you can get good dimensions for the seats and measure the car to see what fits better. I had a set of fixed back OMPs, I finally conceded that they simply did not fit. Not without compromising the seating position.
  13. I bought one from http://kwikwire.com/ it is a really nicely made harness.
  14. You may have a typeo... What and welding?! Hah, joking aside. Here is my take: Hiring someone to repair that properly is likely an expensive endeavor just due to the time involved. If you can weld, or have a friend that can weld it up, Z car depot sells that whole panel for like $140 You can carefully drill our and cut welds, fit the new panel and weld it in. Can it wait? It's your car. I have drive cars with worse rust. Is it a good idea? Probably not.
  15. I ended up with mine a bit more rearward... Which was the source of some headaches.
  16. But... Has anyone used BC DRs and if so, how do you like them?
  17. You know... regarding motor position and ideal weight balance. I have been thinking relative to my own project lately, at some point you make compromises. I am in the mode of just trying to get things done and progress the car along. Is it better? Yeah sure, but how much better? 3% better? Big deal. If something fits better, or becomes more affordable, or more practical, go for it. I am if you are trying to optimize for absolute max effort performance, let's be honest, it is the wrong platform all together.
  18. Well that is not very nice. I think that modifying the shifter is probably the most straight forward approach. With all the work you have into motor position, I would buy or build a shifter. This also has the added benefit of keeping the weight as far rearward as possible.
  19. For whatever it's worth, I had a good experience with them. Hope your parts arrive soon.
  20. Nice! What booster did you order? Stock replacement?
  21. "they had a very strong smell straight out of the box" You know what we don't talk about enough, the smell of new parts.
  22. I once filled a torn rubber motor mount with urathane windshield adhesive, out of a caulking gun. It worked amazingly well.
