  1. Yeah, I was going to mention the weight difference but I was not sure of the actual amout. I don't think there is a huge difference but the S13 is lighter. I think they are about the same weight as a 280Z. I just sold my S13 last month but I can see myself picking up another one down the road. I had to choose between the S13 and the S30 and of course the Z won
  2. Personally I prefer the S13 coupe body style. The single cam engines were only in 89 and 90 I believe. Pretty common to swap in a latter KA or SR motor though. Here's some nice ones I found at random with a quick search.
  3. Wow. If you thought the Z purists were bad can you imagine what the ferrari loyalist would think if they saw that car. I agree with you 100%. I don't have any problem with the previous owner putting in a chevy V8 probably for maintanance reasons but I'm also glad the car was restored and the Tipo V12 looks MUCH MUCH better in there.
  4. I've heard of people using JB Weld to bead their pipes. If you don't want to got that route, I'm sure any place that does welding can do the beading for you.
  5. How did that happen exactly. I wanted to go that weekend but I was in Reno. Is that a F2002?
  6. Those will work. I have seen those seats in a Z car in person.
  7. Go to Michael's Mufflers. 1073 E El Camino Real in Sunnyvale. Just off of Lawrence Expressway. I talked to him last week about putting a 3" exhaust on my 240 and he said he can do it. Do you work in the San Jose area? I'd like to check the car out one of these days.
  8. So did you pick it up already? If you want to talk to some toyota guys theres a shop around the corner from my place that does toyota motor swaps. Whats the status on the Z? I'm smelling a LS-1 swap in the works
  9. Good job . I just got done installing my spare motor about 2 or 3 weeks ago with the help of icice9 and fl327. Feels good to be driving the Z again after being down for almost the whole year. I was running an open downpipe too and it sounded crazy . Just put my exhaust on this weekend cause I was just asking to get oulled over. My spare motor cost me $250 and it's running like a champ. I had my IC already plumbed so it was pretty much plg and play for me.
  10. Pretty sweet. Makes me want to keep my 89 S13 coupe. Can't have two project cars though and the Z is just cooler.
  11. I would recommend the IC install. If engine life is a priority, the IC does add a measure of safety and will give you peace of mind when running above stock boost levels. Sure there may be a slight increase in lag but it will be minor and by no means will it make the car no longer enjoyable to drive. As for the exhaust, you could always just cut off the 2.5" section I'm running straight out the downpipe right now and it sounds like pure evil
  12. Do the famous ECU connector cleaning. Whenever that happened to me I would disconnect the and clean the ECU connectors and the AFM connector with electrical contact cleaner. It would always work. Could also be a small leak somewhere.
  13. Looks good. Closer to what Nissan should have made. Something like this
  14. How did you land that job and what exactly do you do?
  15. I haven't been following the season too closely but I will be going to the race at Infineon in July. That should be fun 8)
  16. What type of clamp are you using?
  17. Some guy did this as a senior project. Would be pretty sweet in a Z. Here's a link to his write up http://mywebpages.comcast.net/lpearl/thesis.pdf
  18. Same day as the ZONC show in Blackhawk.
  19. Here's more http://www.gladiatorgw.com http://www.ucoatit.com/
  20. A Lexus V8 has been done before but I don't think there is any documentation on it. I've seen the 1UZ in the MKIII supra and 7MGTEs fit nicely in the Z so it should fit.
  21. Problem is people just don't check their mirrors or american drivers in general have no concept of driving etiquette. Not a problem in europe. Left lane for passing.
  22. I just bought a 99 Pathfinder and while browsing through some websites I remember reading about some V8 conversions.
