  1. That z is awesome. No words for the level of detail that was put into it. Even the flat exhaust for added ground clearance! Sweet z it looks very clean!
  2. Make sure to mount a gopro on the inside from the roll cage looking ahead for us!
  3. A good source yes, but everybody has a different model z and hasn't tried more than 1 or 2 kits. Cars are stressed out and rusty, therefore no two cars are the same exact fit tolerance wise. Especially with all the new kits coming out not many have tried them all or completely finished the builds. Don't get your panties in a wad when somebody gave a legitimate suggestion of something similar to a car craft build. It's an awesome idea! That would be a real service to the forum, especially since the 240z has a smaller trans tunnel. Best of luck to you too...
  4. Another question to throw a kink in this debate is long term if you want to go turbo. If you do then apparently the $50 custom mounts are the way to go when routing a downpipe from looking at the few turbo lsx z's I've seen. (If you're installing a standard rear exit exhaust that is) And if you plan out well enough (I got lucky lol) then you could do what I did, I have never taken my engine out once. I bought the jci engine mount kit and installed the motor/trans. Fabbed up a trans x-member and done! 9k miles later its still screaming! JCI short headers (used) and engine mounts (new) are all I purchased for the swap from him.
  5. Hey and if you've got truck accessories then you can squeeze in a sanden 508 compressor too! It fit mine with the truck spacing! And that bracket is almost what I paid having to source all my brackets and hardware for an f-body alt setup!
  6. Dang that looks sweet! What size turbo? And I can't wait until I get to rip mine back apart, fix all the rust, turbo and get some actual paint on it. Keep up the good work! It looks awesome! You gotta get it all done before the z Attack next year in Franklin at headquarters! Hopefully we can meet up again before that sometime too
  7. I have a slight drone in mine cruising in 6th around 1800 rpm on the highway. I'm looking into putting resonator tubes out from the exhaust to try out and see if it helps. Calculate the frequency and figure out how long they need to be then try it. I found it over on performancetrucks forum today. I'm running a dual 2.5 to single 3, then a 3 in/out Borla muffler. http://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/sponsor-sales-specials-135/how-build-exhaust-resonator-tube-eliminate-drone-489463/
  8. Front hose on the water pump when in the car goes to the passenger side on the firewall. I had to get a 3/4" to 5/8" adapter and put 2 hose clamps on the transition. I have a gen iii 5.3 FYI
  9. I fully agree the level will dictate the price. If you're going show car then it's gonna get deep quick in body work, but I just wanted a quick daily with occasional track days and my goal was $10k. I'm at $16k+ with vintage air included... I agree with $15k starting and minimal fab work you can build a nice car and not half way do everything so it's done right the first time. I'm not worried about scratches with the way the body looks lol body work eh maybe someday
  10. And if you're going built LS7 power wise + stick shift then plan on building a strong strong rear end setup. Then sell it for cheap so we can all have it before grenades ours at a max of 450rwhp lol Can't wait to see the build!
  11. For my road warrior I travel in it and net around 30 mpg with the 5.3 and in 6th it's barely running lol it just cruises on down the road sipping gas. To hit 2k RPM you've gotta be doing 70 plus mph. But they're ridiculous for the price I agree because there's not a "good" used Trans. Mine is junk and I have $450 in parts to rebuild it this winter. Guy said it grinds a little in 2nd... He wasn't joking... Sounds like a 12 year old jamming gears with no clutch.
  12. Lol good to know yeah I got lucky and ran the hose through an old drain hose hole in the passenger side floorboard from the early non working datsun aftermarket ac. It pours the water onto the pavement when I'm running the ac, I bet it would flood it. The heat works great this winter so far! 30* tonight lol
  13. Yeah I agree it'll fit based on pics I've seen but it gets pretty cool for me in Tn. If I do another z I may try the next size up. Go figure the week after I get it put in....fall/winter hits...
  14. Yeah it's the second and hopefully last time I have to remove the dash. Pain in the butt. I don't think it'll clear the water temp sender. The Sanden 508 is already touching the plastic plug on the harness with the truck setup. Edit: GO VOLS!!!
  15. Nope actually running truck depth with camaro ls1 intake, fuel and ls1 oil pan. I don't think it will clear the camaro accessories. Custom fit on the universal brackets and barely fits but yes it's all in one centralized box. The mini barely fit but I've seen online that the next size up fits but I wasn't gonna chance it not fitting. I'm having issues with getting the hoses crimped tight enough. It has outputs for the ac and heater hoses. Make sure it's the mini gen II with heat/ac/def. works pretty good
  16. Well I was recommended to a local performance shop to get my car dyno'd before I install a cam in the next few months and will go back there to see the gains. I should've cleaned the soot out before going but the ole 5.3 didn't do too bad. 3 pulls for $60. Considering its a stock factory rated 285hp at the crank that's ok for a baseline pull. Longtubes may help a few horses but not worth the headache to me for the price. If I can find one I'm thinking LS6 intake. Stock 5.3 - LS1 Intake - Tunedbyfrost Mail Order Tune 93 Octane Pull 1 - 5200 rpm (259/287) Pull 2 - 5200 rpm (263/291) Pull 3 - 6000 rpm (274/302) (Hp/tq) TSP Torquer V2 might be happening in the future... 232/234 .595/.598 112LSA

  18. I bought the autometer adapter and 45 elbow then screwed in the aftermarket gauge electronic sending unit. It's huge but hey it works! And u agree no room near the header for it at all.
  19. Yep type in "ls1 tb" on eBay and there's the $86.40 throttle body. $100 Ls1 intake at all swap meets that's the going rate around east tn. And injectors and fuel rails I bought off ls1tech used for cheap in the classified after a few weeks.
  20. I'm running a fuel cell with an 8an outlet into an 8an Russell filter then into a walbro 255. After that it goes through a c5 corvette fpr and a 6an line all the way to the ls1 fuel rails. I've heard that a 6an line will max out around ~450 hp. You'll be fine with that.
  21. I just typed this in on eBay and bought mine "ls1 fuel rail pressure gauge" and it's fairly cheap Make sure you take out the needle in the end first before installing the gauge.
  22. I had a couple of bad vacuum leaks and once plugged mine didn't die anymore. Idle smoothed out in an instant. Any whistling?
