  1. I didn't claim that it was just as easy to shift. It's geometry and physics... I get it. I said it wasn't worth $200 to me to get a short shifter. I'm strong enough that a slightly harder shift is an excellent exchange for a shorter shift, plus it makes it harder to break the tranny through hard shifting. Besides that, I'm not entirely sure the shifter in question does anything different than move the pivot point, which doesn't magically reduce the effort and the throw at the same time. It's a trade-off.
  2. What if they're trying to be hidden... so they can come kill you? Or wait... same result... nevermind.
  3. If this is the "Shiro" you're looking at, it's not. I even messaged the seller to tell him and why. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170201211006 I believe this one is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1988-Shiro-Special-TURBO-Nissan-300ZX-Body-Great-Cond_W0QQitemZ280208571061QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item280208571061
  4. I might be making room in the budget for one of these.
  5. Black is the safe way to go. If you use the main body color, it can look great.
  6. If it's in remotely decent shape and the LSD is in there, I would totally buy it for that amount. Just make sure it's actually the Shiro model. It should have almost no options.
  7. I just paid $500 for a R200 with the CV axles. Came from a relatively low-mileage 1988 300ZX Turbo (clutch-type). You'll have to decide what to do for companion flanges adaptors. You could go with MMS' "cheap" adaptors for $225. You'll also have to figure out how you're going to get it in there with the vented rear cover. There are a few ways. Basically, putting in a LSD R200 could cost you as little as $50 (guess) or as much as $1000 or more AFTER the R200 purchase. It all depends on how much you can fabricate yourself. (ie $50 is a LOW LOW minimum)
  8. Did he really have nowhere to go? It looked like he wedged himself in between the fence and the tree just to get a few feet of pull.
  9. Tell that to my other modified shifter - it disagrees. So does geometry.
  10. I know nothing of guns, really, and I was finding it hard to contain the laughter in my cubicle.
  11. You'll have to answer that yourself. If I want a shorter throw, I'll just chop my stock one.
  12. Found this through a Google search on SupraForums and no mention of it on HybridZ. http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=477519 Basically, for ~$80 you can avoid the possible screw-up of fabricating your own shifter extension if 1.125" of additional length does it for you. From pictures I've seen of a couple R154 installs here, that may be all we need. I may just cut up the stock one anyways because I imagine I'd like to have it sitting in the stock shifter location; or, rather, as far back as possible while being able to retain the stock center console and not chopping it. Also, if you read further down the thread, there are a lot of guys who say this shifter extension will not be enough for the MKIV guys as the thread starter suggests. I think it's the newer Soarer R154 that has an entirely different and much longer (4"?) shifter/extension housing than the MKIII R154. Excerpt of important info in case that thread disappears. Then, further down, a guy responds with the parts explosion of the later Soarer R154 with the much longer shifter extension. I haven't figured out if it's bolt-on, but it has a great deal more parts and I imagine is consequentially equally more expensive. I may have to look into it - http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showpost.php?p=5824871&postcount=8
  13. I think cylinders 1 and 5 will blow so... [runs off to get his TI-82 calculator] ...412HP divided by 6 cylinders times 4 cylinders = 275ish
  14. Thanks. I don't mind the idea of someone finding out his physical address and taking care of business. If he lived near me, I would.
  15. No, it's just you. That header is for single scroll turbos.
  16. Wow... all these guys have never heard of this before? Maybe it's because I spent so much time on TurboFord.net that I learned about this well over a year ago. And this company that "invented" it for the 2JZ guys certainly isn't letting on that they got the idea from somewhere else. I don't think it does much if anything for non-dual-scroll turbochargers.
  17. FYI - in Texas, last I checked it is illegal to drive around with only your PARKING lights on. I doubt it's something you'll actually get ticketed for here, but it is i the law. It probably is in place because it's to indicate the car is parked and suddenly it's moving or something to that effect.
  18. You know, Phil, I was also wondering about the condition of your injectors. Did you buy them new? It might be worth your investment to have them cleaned and flow-tested somewhere. I recently found a shop down here in Pflugerville that does it for $15/injector, including new screens, filters and o-rings, if necessary. The ebay injectors I got for my Merkur were way out of wack until they were cleaned. One of my injectors' flow increased 107% and the spray pattern of all of them was definitely more like baby urine, kinda going everywhere. Imagine if I'd actually put them in and run them that way!
  19. Great. I was thinking I should, but what is the likelihood you'll be there? 620, right?
  20. Ya, just a teeny weeny bit. Just richen it up. i prefer to be a bit too rich versus a bit too lean. I just noticed you busted 1000 posts recently. Hoorayskies! (My wife and I will be heading to Dallas soon to pick up and engine and/or hang with my bro and his family; we're thinking we'd like to stop by. How about 4am... unannounced?)
