  1. That was a really good find. I foound the 2005 Chrysler Firepower concept. It really looked like a Z! If Nissan had built that instead of the 350Z, I would have bought one.
  2. This week has been the pits, but it seems to be leveling out a little. Monday I am at home with a bad sore throat, and a cough. No big deal for me. In the middle of the morning my wife comes in and says she has a pain in her chest, and needs to go to her doctor. they give her an EKG and take some blood for the lab. They think its just indigestion. Tuesday morning the clinic wants her to come in for another blood test. a couple hours later they call and tell her to get to the hospital because she has had heart attack. As we are getting ready to go, the phone rings, it is our daughter who lives in Seattle. I tell her that we are taking her mother in to the hospital, but she shouldn't worry. She then tells me that on her way to work she crashed her new motor scooter and is now at home with a broken arm and leg. She is otherwise ok and that I shouldn't worry. Hell, I ain't worried, I'm scared s!!tless! There are no words to explain how important my wife is to me. On Wednsday they did an angiogram and said she had a spasm in a blood vessel on her heart, and had done no dammage. So today I got to bring her home. Rhias (the daughter) called last night and said her boyfriend was taking the week off, and her best friend was flying up from San Fransisco to take care of her. Oh well, I'm so emotionally wrung out that at least I'm not worried. Joe
  3. How about "funner", or "funnest"? People who run "Nitro" in street racers? Last time I checked they were using Nitrous Oxide. Nitro has meant Nitrous Methane. Of course I may not be able to distinguish between a top fueler and a riced out Prelude. The one that makes me really crazy, "110%" There is no such thing.
  4. All they really care about is the 24.5 cents tax.
  5. I don't make much on social security, but I only work about 3 days a month, and all my toys are paid for.
  6. Someone posted a pic of a Caddy engine that was painted gold, I thought it looked great. I just don't know if gold would be too much.
  7. I so...... If i ever get the Z31 back together I intend to paint it a dark green with a gold stripe (like the Ford gt350). That part is pretty much figured out. However I have to do the engine compartmentand I have no idea what I am going to do. first I thought I might do it all in stainless steel. but that is a PITA to keep clean. Engine turned Aluminium would look pretty good, but it is more work than I want to do. also there are corrosion issues. So I am going to do the fabrication in good old 18 guage steel. Finally to the question(TA DA) I have no idea what color to do the firewall and rest of the engine room. I don't want it to be a dark color. But it would be nice if it was compatable with the rest of the car. I'm looking for any suggesstions 'cause I'm at a total loss for ideas. Joe
  8. I'll bet that makes $300 aluminium ramps look better all the time.
  9. Three guys walking down a road see a herd of sheep. The first says "I sure wish that sheep was Lindsay Lohan." The second says, "That tart? Not me I wish that sheep was Catherine Zeta Jones." The Third, a more practical person, says "I just wish it was dark."
  10. For the money you guys are talking about, if you want a small high revving engine maybe you should look into finding a used Foyt Coyote They only weighted about 400lb, 255cid, and made about 750hp with prob about 40 (I'm guessing) lb of boost. Of course that is a 30 year old engine:) Sorry, but I've always been a sucker for that engine.
  11. Once you get rid of fan shrouds and stock air cleaners getting a sbc into a 300ZX isn't hard. There is plenty of room on the sides and it isn't very tight front to back.
  12. I know you're right, but it still makes me crazy.
  13. I just spent the last week calling every steel supplier in southern Oregon that I could find. It isn't that I am looking for Cobalt Zirconium sheets, all I wanted was about 20' of 1 1/4" x.095" 4130 chrome moly tubing Only one place had any moly at all, and it was thinner wall than I could use. sometimes I feel like this place is still under the impression that the '50s will never end.
  14. Look at all that wasted floorspace! You need to start at least three more projects.
  15. Whee!! After only 5 years and 7 months I have 300 posts. Now all iI have to do is start posting something that is useful.
  16. I'm no expert, but the suspension and rearend look like the one that I pulled out of my '84
  17. Sorry to hear that, but at least no one was injured. I also want to remind everyone about what you should do if you feel sleepy at the wheel. Just pull over and take 5 or 10 minutes break and it will save your live. AMEN!!!!
  18. I don't know much about newer sporties, but I can tell you that a belt drive will handle a lot. I have a friend with a 108" shovelhead that runs a belt and He hasn't ever had one break. I thought about a turbo a while back and I think Honda built a 500 that had a turbo. I thought it would be cool to get two of them and have a twin turbo Harley. ( My iron head XLH is only a 1000cc, I don't know if that would work on a 1200 or not) Joe
  19. You may be right, but as an old club brother once said, " A Harley can turn a woman into a slut in less than two city blocks." But I am kind of prejudiced, I've owned Harleys for almost 45 years.
  20. I have a trough down the front edge of the bench to squegee [?] oil onto so it can run into a handy bucket placed on the floor at the end. This is really helpful if you are building transmissions. Especially fords that don't have a lot of tollerance for dirt.
  21. As of last night, my xj12 rear end is completely rebuilt. Surprisingly, I only spent about $200 on bearings and seals. Bright ans early in the morning I'll be ordering the moly tubing and sheet steel for the frame. I'm also nearly finished with the wiring harness. I pulled almost 8 lbs of wire out of the car. The bare body is off to the sandblaster, and I am scouring the junkyards for a climate control to replace the air conditioning.
