  1. Its true with me. I learned on my cheap ass welder and I got to where im pretty decent but nothing that would be considered "good or great". I then picked up a nice mig and started welding on my friends car and wow. It was like night and day. I went from rough uneven welds with alot of burn throughs to being able to pull nice even beads good even penetration and looked very very good in my opionion. It will be worth your money to buy a good welder.
  2. Are you talking about the guy with the flooded engine and then every one started to tell him that his car needed new rings?? If so I went off on those guys in that thread. I hope he figured out who was setting him down the right path. I completely agree that people need to keep there mouths shut if they dont actually know what they are talking about. Factory certified Ducati and Yamaha Technician. Plus 4 years of HS AUTO tech. lol among other mech jobs in the auto/marine field
  3. LoL No my car is quiet enough. I am jealous of your A/C system, your car computer, your stereo. suspension, umm your intake manifold. hrmm anything else? lol One thing i found that helped with the injector ticking was switching my injectors to alternating injection instead of simultaneous injection. just made it so that 3 injectors where firing at once instead of 6.
  4. Your car has to much sound deadening to get a good sound clip in with the mic in the cabin!!!!!! come on Derek you know better than that!!! lol When was the last time you adjusted your valves?? they seem a little noisy to me. But I say just get the new engine built!!
  5. How does this guy even know he needs a rebuild? His engine might smoke for alot of reasons. Head gasket leaking valve seals to name a few. You guys are really quick to tell this guy to rebuild his engine. He needs to fix the fueling problem and then do a compression check/leakdown test to see where his engine actually is. According to what you guys are saying every one should rebuild the engine every time there car doesnt run right.
  6. If you rebuild this engine and you dont fix the PROBLEM you will just ruin the new engine. You need to get those injectors checked out.
  7. Just did a real quick read through and i dont think i saw anyone say that your injectors are probably leaking when your car is off. They are flooding the engine when its not running and then leaking past the rings into your oil. If so the SU swap will fix the problem
  8. I did the mistake and bought a cheap flux core welder only that didnt have much adjustability. It only had a high and a low for the amp setting and then a dial for wire feed. sometimes the low setting wasnt low enough for doing sheet metal and it would burn through. A real pain in the ass. The one your getting has 4 settings but isnt adjustable. might be better but you cant get that perfect setting like you can with a dial. Id suggest getting one with a dial for the amps.
  9. I painted mine with some rattle can rustoleum once. No issues.
  10. That is what i was trying to say to do. Looks like you got it worked out.
  11. I have the exact one. Just so you know you can e-mail them and request an aluminum flange for it. Gabe (wigneout) has it also and neither one of us have had to change the springs. I love mine. It works great. Up until about 14 psi its a whoosh but above that its a nice crack sound that i love.
  12. I had to actually take off my control arms to get mine on. Well I just unbolted them from the chassie i didnt take out the spindle pins.
  13. Any kind of paint that had red in it or is in that spectrum of color has a high amount of solids in it doesnt cover that well. Tinted primer will help but sometimes it just takes multiple coats. In order to actually get the effects of multiple coats you actually have to let it dry for 8 hours before you apply your second coat.
  14. Ive also heard it for like bmw's from other drivers stuff like that.
  15. Its an old joke. Heard it about 10 different ways
  16. That is not correct 1 fast Z. it is as follows. 75-80 l28e Top ring 2.0mm bottom ring 2.0mm l28et(maybe 81-83 na also but ive never messed with them) Top ring. 1.5mm bottom ring 2.0mm They made the top ring thinner so they could have a .5mm thicker ring land under it so it was stronger.
  17. If im not mistaken the turbo pistons are 1.5mm, 2.0mm not 1.2mm like you stated. Ok just a quick check on ebay says that they are 1.5mm, and 2mm for the L28et and the 75-80 L28E are 2mm and 2mm. Cant find any for the 81-83 NA pistons though
  18. We look for our members to use the search function. This has been covered 100's of times probably.
  19. Put a 4.11 rear end in it. It will burn the tires then.
  20. Stock NA pistons dished or flat top have a thinner top ring land. Turbos are bigger which is stronger and can handle more boost.
  21. Yeah i just bolted mine together and deformed the metal cap. No issues 5k later
  22. I have the fk452's also They are very nice. Could be a bit stickier during dry but they work very well in the rain.
  23. LOL Do you even know what your talking about? First off all cometic doesnt even make a L6 head gasket. And these guys speak the truth. The "old technology" is better than a felpro gasket.
  24. All of mine was just taken off when i got my car. I havent found any evidence that anything has to be rewired or modified to get it to work they just have to be unplugged i believe. Your talking about the seat switches and stuff right?
