  1. I did the mistake and bought a cheap flux core welder only that didnt have much adjustability. It only had a high and a low for the amp setting and then a dial for wire feed. sometimes the low setting wasnt low enough for doing sheet metal and it would burn through. A real pain in the ass. The one your getting has 4 settings but isnt adjustable. might be better but you cant get that perfect setting like you can with a dial. Id suggest getting one with a dial for the amps.
  2. I painted mine with some rattle can rustoleum once. No issues.
  3. That is what i was trying to say to do. Looks like you got it worked out.
  4. I have the exact one. Just so you know you can e-mail them and request an aluminum flange for it. Gabe (wigneout) has it also and neither one of us have had to change the springs. I love mine. It works great. Up until about 14 psi its a whoosh but above that its a nice crack sound that i love.
  5. I had to actually take off my control arms to get mine on. Well I just unbolted them from the chassie i didnt take out the spindle pins.
  6. Any kind of paint that had red in it or is in that spectrum of color has a high amount of solids in it doesnt cover that well. Tinted primer will help but sometimes it just takes multiple coats. In order to actually get the effects of multiple coats you actually have to let it dry for 8 hours before you apply your second coat.
  7. Ive also heard it for like bmw's from other drivers stuff like that.
  8. Its an old joke. Heard it about 10 different ways
  9. That is not correct 1 fast Z. it is as follows. 75-80 l28e Top ring 2.0mm bottom ring 2.0mm l28et(maybe 81-83 na also but ive never messed with them) Top ring. 1.5mm bottom ring 2.0mm They made the top ring thinner so they could have a .5mm thicker ring land under it so it was stronger.
  10. If im not mistaken the turbo pistons are 1.5mm, 2.0mm not 1.2mm like you stated. Ok just a quick check on ebay says that they are 1.5mm, and 2mm for the L28et and the 75-80 L28E are 2mm and 2mm. Cant find any for the 81-83 NA pistons though
  11. We look for our members to use the search function. This has been covered 100's of times probably.
  12. Put a 4.11 rear end in it. It will burn the tires then.
  13. Stock NA pistons dished or flat top have a thinner top ring land. Turbos are bigger which is stronger and can handle more boost.
  14. Yeah i just bolted mine together and deformed the metal cap. No issues 5k later
  15. I have the fk452's also They are very nice. Could be a bit stickier during dry but they work very well in the rain.
  16. LOL Do you even know what your talking about? First off all cometic doesnt even make a L6 head gasket. And these guys speak the truth. The "old technology" is better than a felpro gasket.
  17. All of mine was just taken off when i got my car. I havent found any evidence that anything has to be rewired or modified to get it to work they just have to be unplugged i believe. Your talking about the seat switches and stuff right?
  18. What are you using to clean up your welds with. I would try those layered sanding disks for 90deg. grinders. They work great and sand very smoothly and leave a nice finish.
  19. Ya your car is worth way more than 8K. When i wrecked my car last year I was told my car had a retial value of 13k. At the time i had a rustoleum rolled on paint job. and wasnt all that great yet. same turbo set up i have now though. I was in SHOCK when he told me that. I know I couldnt of gotten 13k for my car if i sold it. If noticed that insurance companies value our cars at alot more than what we could sell them for. Nice for when we wreck them. Not so nice for when we sell them. Once i get a garage I am going to get my car appraised and get on some better insurance.
  20. You say you want to talk to the experts but honestly Dave at rebello is the expert. Honestly imo dave should of covered shipping. Your going to have a hard time getting Dave to pay for work at another shop. Its cash out of his pocket now instead of a few hours of work to fix the problem. Good luck on getting this worked out but i have to say that it was a mistake taking it to the other machine shop.
  21. What part of the clutch master is it hitting? the reservoir or the actual body?
  22. That is what Gabe is running (Austins old motor) and i believe that is what Speeders(rick) L-series was set at. If i was going to build a forged bottom end that is what i would go with.
  23. You should allready have it. What do you think goes into shocks??
  24. Have you thought about doing a front mount set up? Can you swap the manifolds from bank to bank and have them point forward?
