  1. i would suggest fully welding them in, obviously tacking and then welding a few inches on each side and rotating arounf, as well as some type of undercoating afterwards. There are a few threads that are good reads on here just do a quick search and you will find them. Also what "thickness or Ga" are his pans....i havent looked but probably will. I normally use 16ga sheet for my pans (i dont much cars if they are preformed or not) cause it doesnt take that long with some cardboard and tracing/shaping to cut out the right size chunk. And it ends up cheaper that way.
  2. ive got a few nice shells (some with interior) but all in texas...theyd have to be shipped and most of them i would be looking for 750-1500 depending on how complete and rust free you want them. you can email me at datsundriver88@hotmail.com -Jeff
  3. wow....but yea...i wouldnt ever hand someone the keys to my car to let them drive unless they handed me the cash...incase they dont come back, wreck the car, etc. But thats pretty jacked to just go beat up on someones car and not buy it, any reason why or really dont have the cash? This thread should get really interesting...or itll go to the shed.
  4. phil put those parts in the house....i might have a built motor soon if you dont =) jk
  5. your better off to pay a mechanic to look over the car than run a carfax if youre paying, and if the car had been wrecked/fixed you should be able to tell alot just by looking at it (gaps, panel alignment, welds, etc)
  6. i would think on an rb car...drums wouldnt exist....might check UPGRADES not just the stock stuff, youre not putting a 100hp l28 in it (which is what the stock stuff was built around).
  7. Theres always someone bending rules somewhere, hence alot of the so called legal r32s r33s and r34s...but im just saying youre talking about an "illegal" s15 which is a huge difference between a completely legal old skyline...my point was even if theyre legal just getting them stateside (through shipping or our good up north frenchies) and both arent so easy and expensive nomatter how you go about it.
  8. You need to get some NEGATIVE offset and run em Helllaaaaaafluchhshhshshshhh!!11!!onn!OnE1! i was gonna say you need to get flares but then i though....HELLLLLL NAHHHHH you can just put a 205 on the rotas and theyll be helllaafuushchhshchh!11!!onE1!1!1on1o cause the tread will still be inside the wheel wells. But on a serious note, i think that compound comment was not on track/or the right answer...since obviously the reason for WIDER tires....is so you dont have to run slicks...not to mention any "stickier" compound is going to wear faster, is more expensive, and isnt the greatest idea to run daily/rain/etc...
  9. I'm in texas and have a very clean shell, motor and trans to go with it, but im looking for $1,500 because of how good a shape its in. Bodywork=sand and paint no filling, fixing rust, etc...might "reundercoat" but thats about it and your choice. Motor and Trans was pulled from a friends car and ran/drove great before pulling it (a month ago) its ready to go and just needs someone to put the pieces together. Let me know -Jeff
  10. nothing "imported" wise is "easily obtained" i mean really guy, think about it....hell how many old olllld skylines (that are leggal) circa 70s-80s do you see driving around...and did i mention they are legal? Its still a pain in the ass process and parts are no where near easy to get for the old cars especially panels, interior, etc
  11. its hard to get rich off of selling parts...when you have to buy them first...but if its nice enough why not just buy the whole car?
  12. NVM he decided to ship them for me....sorry about taking up the space guys (mods can delete or shed this)
  13. sounds like you have it figured out now....that last part is exactly what i would do. I can understand not wanting to get into it with your dad but i would remind him when taking the car that you still had to pay 1/2 of that BS paint bill, and he was the one that didnt want to pursue it. But yes big lesson learned, and either way you go just make sure you plan it out a little better next go round.
  14. Wife has managed to take out more curbs than i can count and bend 3 of the 4 wheels on her hyundai and i finally found a set of wheels that were priced well and had tires....would need you to pick them up and ship them to me. If you are interested in a new set of 195-55-15 Falken Ziex ZE512's...we might be able to work out something (they would make great autocross or everyday tires, my set i am running on ive had for almost 3 years and theyre still going strong. Thanks HBZ and hopefully someone up north can help me out. -Jeff
  15. then it was swapped out or optioned....most all 79s were "stripped" hardtops....also if you SEARCH and use your brain you will figure out why a 240z is lighter than a 280z or 280zx....maybe look at the numbers for a huge hint. When are we going to start shedding these threads and making people search or hell if its their first or up to 5 posts lol they should be checked by a mod before posting...it seriously gets old. I mean hell we dont even have pics of the car....alot of cars sound good for $150 but if its rusted out or has a torn up subframe its kind of pointless now isnt it. Please go buy that other car...it sounds like a much better idea, anyone can mess with a 350, these cars need to be researched before bought or they are all gonna end up "projects, parted out, or crushed".
  16. there are and i already gave them to you....275-50-15s....bfg makes one that will stick very well for you and a few other options out there too like nittos
  17. ive got a 76 that will work, ill take 300 for everything shipped
  18. id tell pops to piss off on buying all of the stuff or the "body shop" screwing since it sounds like hes just buying parts and saying OK here pay your half...and thats not how it works. i would take all of your paid for "performance parts" off of the car (to sell and get some money back, or sell them to him for what you have in them) and give him the bill for "your half" and say ...pay up and keep the damn car. sounds like ya'll didnt go into this with the right idea, things sorted out, or an order/priority on what to do and at what kind of pace...just sounds like a mixed up jumbled "project" ....and i think dad needs to keep it and you go on your own way. sounds like the body shop scrreeewwwwed you hard...seriously i would never pay the shop if they quoted me 3k (obviously IN WRITING) then tried to tell me its 11k when i pick it up...lol lawyers have a way of making that stupid garbage go away.
  19. late to comment but since this thread got bumped....i happen to know of a very nice pearl white one owned by "gs motorsports" in irving,tx ...look it up
  20. if that car put out over 500 on a junkyard motor, im thinking all the parts "should" make this easily over 600....but post a sheet already. and id rather read these threads than a bunch of kids and their hellaflushness or lack of being flush and stretched tire bs...just make it hook lol
  21. take the door panel off and use some common sense and im sure youll see the mechanism and how it works....then dont lock it again untill you fix it lol
  22. ive got a set of turbines that i had black powdercoated earlier this year if youre interested. I'd sell em for 300+shipping
