Slicks and contact patch
tooquick260 replied to RebekahsZ's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
My dad went through all that with his VW beetle. It all came down to personal preference. He had better 60 foot times with the wider wheel, tire combo. 1.46 compared to 1.56. That is using a 3.88 r&p with a 4.25 first gear on a 28" tall setup. Car weighed 1920 with him in it. Dyno'd at 188hp at rear wheels and a healthy dose of NOS 36 size jets squared, approximately 100hp. He had issues with breaking tranny's and ended up going with the spin to win attitude. Leaving at max rpm and try to control the spin with weight transfer, tire pressure and spring/shock setup. He did the same with setting up the camber with different springs etc.. The other issue he noticed was that the different tire/wheel setup changed the height of the combo. This which changes the gear ratio not much but it all adds up. He went with 5", 6" and 7" combos. From BFGoodrich M&H drag radials, M&H Slicks and Phoenix Slicks. As she said more is better! -

For the fronts I used a vendor here on hybridz that makes the bracket...... http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/105586-z32-caliper-conversion-kit-front-only/ Straight bolt on. Just tell him what type of rotor you want as in stock, slotted drilled or slotted and drilled. If you dont have these calipers I think you can get them from a parts store as a re manufactured part. Will not have the "NISSAN" on the outside of the caliper but same insides, about $90 with core charge. Use steel braided lines and good to go. The rear I used the T3 as you know and straight bolt on. One thing I tried was going with just the backing plates and the dif mount. Well you have to get the mustache bar because the stock does not fit. And then the drop downs will not bolt to the dif support and the dog bone. Then the rear suspension is so far out of alignment that you have to get there rear lower control arms because you need the adjustment. So, if you are getting this buy the whole thing and you done.! -

z31 nissan 300zx ecu 1987 1988 199 turbo harnesz
tooquick260 replied to tooquick260's topic in Parts Wanted
Thanks, got an 88 ecu. Now need a maf and would like a harness our at least three connectors for the ecu and maf. -
Yes any driveline company can do the job. Mount the diff, take a measurement from rear seal of the tranny inside the output, to the front of the diff input flange. Mine was 35 1/2" But I was using an S15 6 speed tranny

Here is my install of the eccs/ecu into a 260z... -
Just a follow up. I still have this issue. Car runs really great as a mild daily driver. Once you want to get a little spirited driving is when this happens. I have played with the fuel pressure, messed with AFM and finally going to switch to the z31 ecu setup. Stay tuned and I will give you the info on this.

Well can't stop the on boost popping and farting. So I have found a Z31 ecu/maf/chopper wheel. I am going to try this to see if I can get this undercontrol. -

HELP before i spend my life savings
tooquick260 replied to TTZ'sofSWMO's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
You also have technotoytuning to choose from. I don't see a problem with all of those. -
Where are you putting the switch?
-
Isky is good, call and tell them what you have and what you want. They will steer you in a good direction. Just make sure your setup isnt going to change. I ended up changing tranny to a closer ratio box that I could have gone a little more aggressive on the profile of the cam.

Wiper, tail lights and dash lights don't work
tooquick260 replied to tooquick260's topic in Ignition and Electrical
OK going to take dash out maybe today, just been dreading it. When I adjust the rheostat for the dash lights it adjusts the tale/parking lights up and down, the dash lights don't work. What is going on? -
Yes, i have the chopper wheel and maf so far. Have located the Z31 ecu turbo, 150 and 199. Have not pulled the trigger on buying them yet. Well I do have a upgraded cam,,, so? I am suspecting the injectors. I have four of one shape and 2 of another. Don't know if I have an issue there, but it runs so good on lower rpms.
-
Ok ,, so I went down on the FP. No difference in performance. Car lays over going into upper rpms, stumbles and pops on boost
-
I am getting schooled... Thanks for the info! At idle I am at 38 lbs of fuel pressure so, should i remove the vacuum line and reset the fuel pressure down to 36 lbs? Then reconnect the vacuum line and it should be correct. I will look at the plugs as well
-
It is original coil. Cap is new, rotor was cleaned up and reused. Will check that again.Spark plug wires are new. Why would it do this. I will get a video of this happening.
