  1. I would recommend alky control, awesome setup. Very easy to install and use, worked flawlessly for me. Its all standalone with its own computer and has SS lines and all the warning features that Scottie mentioned. They also have great customer support. I used it with 26psi and pump gas on L28. And in fact I happen to have it for sale.. 400 (shipped) takes it. PM me if you are interested, it is pretty much brand new. I used it on my L28 for about a month...long enough to make it to SEZ and then I decided to pull out the L28 and go a different route that wont be turbo for a while. I was actually planning on keeping it for future use but I need money to finish my VQ swap. I have the manual and all hardware / accs. If you don't have a MAP sensor thats the only thing you will need.
  2. As I mentioned at the first one I will be more then willing to help and if we need a "base" to work out of I can make my garage available for a couple weekends.
  3. I was 14 or 15 when i joined. Gotta get started young thats when you have time to work on your car!
  4. I am a Junior in ME at NCSU. I will most likely get a masters in automotive engineering.
  5. damn if that car sells for that price.... I know of a 280z in better condition then that, it even had the warning tags dangling from the sun visors. Everything mint like it came off the show room floor. He offered to sell it to me for 10K, but I thought that was too much lol.
  6. I think you've still got some work to go in your tuning, did you mess with the ignition curve much? When I rough tuned my car on the dyno (mustang) a while back she put down 254hp/289tq at 11psi. This was on a bone stock L28 long block with a to4b compressor housing with a 60-1 wheel. Im sure she had more in it as I did pretty much the same as you and set my fuel curve. If you don't already have one I would look into getting a wide band and some datalogging software (if your ems isn't capable of this). I ended up tuning fuel with a innovate Lm1 pretty much all the time, then you can go and fine tune your ign on the dyno.
  7. That is the wastegate actuator, it opens a flap inside the turbine housing which is referred to a a wastegate. Pick one up off ebay and youll be good to go. Fitting a external gate is a bit of work and is really only nessecary if you change turbos and need the extra flow.
  8. Ezzzzzz....: The Z32 bellhousing must be machined down to accomadate the thickness of the adaptor so it will sit flush against the cover plate just as the stock tranny does. Also for others checking out this thread have a look in the group buy section i am making another run of these.
  9. Okay Guys, info about adapters posted up in the group buy section! http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=127121
  10. The stock 350z crossmember is far to wide to be mounted in ther s30 without lots of fabrication. The stock engine mounts are actually too wide as well. That is why I made new mounts to move the factory isolators closer to the engine and point straight down. I initially hoped to use the stock crossmember but My plans were ended quickly.... the 350z x mem is also a super bulky piece. I do think you can use the stock trany x mem though. Anyway Ive been up at school for a while and really havent touched the project.. trying to save enough money to finish her. Stuck on enginemangement right now Im hoping to use megasquirt but I dont want to give up the VVT. Hopefully Ill be able to put in a few hours on the car this weekend and work on the transmission crossmember.
  11. its 240z_Master His name is Quoc, you can contact him through email: quoc@livesockets.com I bought my wheels through him and I highly recommend him. Good prices fast shipping. (for Wats)
  12. Im sure it will be fast and fun to drive but its completely hideous. Nice try Nissan thanks for ruining the skyline.
  13. Yup 245's are about all you can find unless you want R compound tires. It sucks but thats the way it is. I run 245's all around and they are all stretched, I wish I could run 255 in the front and 275 in the back but I can only wish. Kuhmo makes a V700 that is a 265 I believe.. but thats R compound.
  14. Keep in mind how you can make air ducting for the front and provide a good seal between the i/c/radiator/engine compartment when building your setup. i personally like having the cooler in the fender well, I thought about doing this setup in my car. Just run some heavy screen in front of it.
  15. da-man - He would have whooped me from a stop, we raced from 40-140 on the interstate Nice pull for a turbo car, still a super close race I won by a car or two. I ride a suzuki gsxr-600 with a 750 engine which I road race... and you said it perfect thats why I love racing bikes, its all about the rider I go out to the track to see what I can do, not the bike. Slownrusty - It was a Lister built by Muscle motorsports with a Cup motor in it. Very scary ride... last time I was in there he was building a 1200hp one.
  16. You can NEVER have too much power, but I think a lot of people (including myself) get way too caught up in "I want 1,000 hp so I can be faster then such and such" Just remember there will always be somebody faster. You need to decide what your overall goal for the car is. Once you get to a certain point IMO a car becomes obnoxious to drive around everyday and just looses alot of the fun of driving. I just took out my 400+ hp L28 (which I beat an 03 Ninja 636 with) and to be honest I cant wait to get my 240hp VQ35 up and running. It will be a treat to have a car that will be fun to drive and I can wind it out and enjoy a nice mountain drive. But to answer your question, I have ridden in a 1800lb convertible with 700hp and that SCARED me. It might have been because it didn't really have seat belts and my head was above the windshield though!!
  17. I know Ive already posted tons of pics but Ill add one any way These are my Konig Rewinds 15x7
  18. Matt we all know you would like to be in his back seat but sheesh please take it to PM!!
  19. Dont shave them IMO It looks great but there are a couple drawback. One if you drive in the rain or get in your car when it is wet you will get water all in your lap. Another thing that you dont think about the the door to body fitting at the top. The drip rails hide that and also protect it from the weather. I shaved mine and i love the look but i would prolly have left them if i was going to. do it over.
  20. I used to be really into building and flying r/c airplanes.... that was before cars. I built a quite a few airplanes for myself and I also built them for other people. My biggest personal plane was a Stinger with a G62 gasoline engine (modified with electronic ignition and timing advance) it met a nasty end with a tree due to radio failure... that was the end of my big plane flying. I wish I had some digital pictures of all my airplanes but they are all real pictures lol. My favorite plane of all time is the Clancy Aviation Lazy Bee... you wanna talk about fun!!! They are alittle challenging to build but the supplied as chace and easily cut of of stock... slap a .15 engine on them and they are a hoot. I also had alot of fun with a blue styrofoam plane. I was built out of a round piece of blue foam with a dowel running down the length of it to mount a .15 engine. Elevons were used for controling it... talk about somethign CRAZY to watch fly!!!!! oh yeah and if you wreck your out 5 dollars. I wrecked it every time I flew it hahahahha. If i was you I would start with a nice trainer plane that wayyou can focus on leanring how to fly and not having to worry about thermals and all that. The BEST trainer plane IMO is a SIG kadet they are simply wonderful to fly and very very forgiving. A .40 is a nice size.
  21. I ride a 05 GSXR600.. its my DD/track bike. <--- Reason VQ project is going to slow!! Track days are EXPENSIVE!!! This is a pic from my first track day so excuse the poor form lol: Also Just picked up a 1994 CBR600F2 I'm turning into a streetfighter/stunt bike. I actually split it with my girlfriend she is going to learn to ride on it lol.
  22. If only I would have known I coudl have bought yoru turbo and clutch and been good to go
