TrackZpeeds CXRacing LS1 T56 240z
trackzpeed replied to trackzpeed's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
Thank you -
Recently purchased full wilwood upgrade through Silvermine motors for LS1 T56 swap 72 240Z This may be a dumb question..... The reservoirs and outlets to the front and rear brakes stock lines are opposite front to rear on my new 15/16 MC..... do I need to re-plumb the lines to the corresponding F & R or can I just swap the reservoirs???? It's all doable but re-plumbing the lines is a bigger hassle. Just not sure if the internals of the MC or valved specific front to rear for pressure. I've got the push rod length already squared away. Thanks. Jim. (Trackzpeed)

Wilwoods are on the bench.... thanks Edan at silvermine for the fast delivery. Hope to start the install this weekend and be ready for May AutoX. Stock brakes were ok at best for street driving but no way would I trust them at 7/10 driving let alone 10/10. The LSZ is just so dang quick and carries so much speed with much bigger wheels and tires it really needs the upgrade to be both safe and maximize the performance. Updates and pics to follow.. Jim -
Advice/ recommendations for ls 240z
trackzpeed replied to Lewis240z's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
There is a LS swap "facts not opinon" thread that will answer some questions..... Lots of searching from multiple sites helps..... There is really not "one" way to build "it" you just need to dive in and be flexible. My build is my own with multiple ideas from multiple threads, people, and sites. Welcome to the addiction. -

Well, a special thank you to Edan at Silvermine motors..... I ordered up the front and rear Wilwood brake upgrade and conversion kit for the 240Z. It was time to get a little more woe for my go lol. I will post install and competed pics once it's done. Jim -

Off to the AutoX races with my daughter and her kart...... finished 2nd in my class and I only made one run. Lost the fuel pump when it starved a bit then burned up, bummer. I'm now on my third pump (on the way), and going to drop it down 2 inches to take advantage of the gravity flow. Kinda sucks..... if I did it again I'd find a way to go internal pump in tank where the fuel can keep her cool. Updates to follow. Oh yea, My daugther took second too but she ran against 7 cars in the novice class since no other karts showed that day. She is only 12 but eyeballing the Z every race, we may have to share in a few years LOL. -
Installed a Skillard splitter on my 280Z with Type 2 air dam
trackzpeed replied to Savage42's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
Not to beat a dead horse but...... As I continue to examine the core support height, I believe the 280's support sits lower than the 240. My core support is darn near the same height as the bottom of my turn signal lenses. If you drop a 280 radiator into a 240, it will sit lower than the 240 core support as well. Sorry if I'm jacking your thread..... Your install and car look great/inspiring, just trying to clarify attempted use of that splitter on a 240Z. Thanks and good luck at the track. Jim -

Installed a Skillard splitter on my 280Z with Type 2 air dam
trackzpeed replied to Savage42's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
Agreed on your analysis of s30's. My air dam is a flexible one from MSA, and a type one style, but appears to much lower than the FG version....... I'm toying with my own splitter now using some of the skillard mounting points/design. Again, love your car, nice work. -

I checked these splitters out too..... from the pics on skillards site, I don't think these will fit a 240Z without some pretty heavy mods. Anyone try it on a 240? OP: very nice work. -
240z and 280z Air Dams are the Same Dimensions Right?
trackzpeed replied to S30bred's topic in Body Kits & Paint
I've only mounted flexible dam twice and both to 240's but they line up perfect mounted on the outside....... Just my .02. -
Hawks Motor & Trans Mounts - Install with Pics!
trackzpeed replied to MECH-E's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
Wow that hawks kit sets the motor way down..... Is pan clearance to the road going to be an issue? Plus 3 on that clamp too, it's a keeper/necessary.- 51 replies

Put the car back in primer after some recent body work..... primer is fun to play with, this in the new paint scheme I'm toying with. Also included a shot of the center cap up front.... they wont fit unless you modify them a bit with a hole saw. Not perfect but still cleaner than nothing at all.. Jim -

Well, I splurged a little today and pick up the new version rear spoiler from BRE.... designed by Peter Brock himself. New brake pads on the way as well. Pads will have to do (should hold up ok for AutoX) until I can spring for the willwoods. Pics to follow the intall. Jim -

I did my homework.... and I liked the way it was engineered, price was right for a "complete" kit, and install was straight forward. Hoke's kit is super nice but I didn't want to wait for it to be completed..... and it may be pricey. All in all I just made the decision and pulled the trigger. The Hybrid community made the job pretty easy IMO. -

9 and 9.5 245 40 front 255 40 rear (275 later in the rear). Drove the car to work for grins and giggles today with no rub on a spirited drive. had to cut some of the front fender out forward to avoid some tire rub. pretty happy all in all but track time will tell me if its really worth it. Thanks, Jim -
