  1. There really is no best place to buy, the dealers that do have those or can get those really have a stranglehold on them. What I would do is ask the dealers if possibly they could give you a good price on them and ask around, most tuner shops can get those wheels and maybe you could get them to hook it up a little bit, but besides that ?
  2. good luck getting those bearing caps out of the block with it still in the car, i did it on a stand and it was still a royal pain in the butt, but at least I know that bottom end is TOUGH. good luck again. What I would do is see if you can still use a standard bearing once you get the caps off, once you do that and you can get away with polishing them back up and throwing the crank back in, you should be ok, just a pain in the butt inside the car.
  3. With almost the exact driveline minus the upgraded turbo and high boost levels and the same efi setup, its gotta be the weight... 400lbs or so sounds like its evening things up in your favor. Have him drop that setup into a 70 and gut the interior and heater core, then throw your setup into a 510
  4. never use the search function no matter what.
  5. Here in California, especially where I live, it seems like they are almost giving away L parts, so we have a skewed concept of what we can get at the junkyards really quick.
  6. The more I think about it, the more im thinking that an sr20 is maybe not a better choice in terms of outright power and glory, but you can theoretically log a ton more miles on them due to the fact that parts from the sr20de that came in us cars will work on the sr20det, and thats a plus for me not only do I build my cars quick, I also drive my cars an average of 88.6 miles a day while enjoying spontaneous and sometimes ridiculous shows of power acceleration cornering and stereo, and I like having noahs ark of spare parts around at all times because I am a greedy and irrational parts nazi and I dont care who knows. I bet the rb anything will kick some L28 butt, since it was inspired by the L series and given nissans history of overbuilding their products (cmon now, 8 inch ring gear in a light car that put 120hp to the wheels stock) im sure of it. With the rb engines comes with the power and the glory of having something truly special and unique under the hood of the car, that coincidentally enough, is based on the original engine of the car and (for the US guys) EXOTIC. Taking on the RB project isnt a cheap venture and you cant get parts from the junkyard, that eliminates me from the equation entirely. I would sooner do the 2jz swap before the RB just because of parts availability, I do break parts and put miles on my car. I will keep my L motor and my measly 24/7/365 300hp capabilities. Poor me.
  7. p90 head on a flatop motor is torquey. junkyard run 14s maybe faster combo (240z) with stock parts of different years is: p90 head, n42 head bumps compression a little higher and works well too. flatop f54 81-3 zx trans 3.9 -4.1 r200 (if you want maximum short gearing- 75-8 5 speed trans) z31 ignition coil zx or maxima distributor with e12-80 module rework the su's a bit, grose jets and some porting use a square port header, its worth the 100 or so for a new header to match the square port head. sad part about all the junkyard parts is that it skews your notions of how much things should cost, and when you look to upgrade the cam it costs as much sometimes more than all thejunkyard parts listed above! good luck.
  8. If you are going for top dollar I would go for the ebay right myself, its international and its not even the auction sale part of it thats the good part, its the people who email you on the sidelines who want to come by and buy the car, thats a plus as well. When I was sellng my old car I wouldnt let anyone get behind the wheel without a minimum of 2,000 cash in their (my) pocket.
  9. I just found the fuse box from the engine bay of a newer maxima or sentra and used the matching newer Maxi fuses. The maxi fuse conversion is a lot dressier and i did consider it at one point.
  10. any seats fit need to make brackets
  11. I wish i could afford to get BBS LMs for my z, their my favorite rims!
  12. Ive been known to hit trees pretty hard too.
  13. My friends clutch is audible like that too when the car is cold, hate it. I run a spec stg 2 kevlar disk, hasnt slipped yet, in a 280z with 12psi at times. I would recommend this clutch to anyone, its actually lighter than the stock clutch feel and grabs good, havent smelt it yet...
  14. Oh what, youre not supposed to vent the bov into the crankcase?
  15. Thats what im talking about. Im losing 2nd gear as we speak!
  16. The word "consistently" is the issue. I would have to say a big "NO" to that' date=' but it can be done. Only a true LSD or locker will always due it!![/quote'] I can.
  17. Hooray for 20s on a Z Just needs different 20s
  18. NOTHING I have done to the car thus far has been more satisfying than the HKS ssqv. Face the truth? The truth is that ive been venting to the atmosphere for about a year now on eccs, both maf and afm, and I had it recirulated before that and I notice nothing in performance. I couldnt tell you how much performance I gained since when I put the bov on I also doubled the boost I dont get a black cloud behind me but sometimes I do get a fireball Im sure I do go rich for a split second, but I dont bog out and the turbo spools boost just as hard as before, except now the turbos bigger and I run more BOOST Its priceless to see the look on anyones face when a 70s sports car hits the WHOOSH factor hard on em! Rice rockets couldnt get me with my 327z, this Z puts the 327 to shame, hate to say it. My old recirc valve is in another guys Z car now, and he can have it- Afshin....
  19. I think for each hybrid z guy out there, there is someone who thinks whatever you are doing constitutes Rice Rocket. Test this theory...
  20. msd and msd coil probably good way to go, I like matched up components. z31 coil is HOT though.
  21. I would give the NA engine a go, but I would take it easy, ive seen ringlands go from 5 degrees too much timing.... Ive seen the NA setups with turbo injectors and various other tweeks put down good power, and Ive heard of Ira too, he knows the deal.
