  1. Close, it's the Taconic Parkway, yes there is a store-deli on the right and yes, there are some huge turtles around. LOL
  2. I use the ST 1-1/8 and 7/8 set on my 280Z. The car handles flat as a table. I found that it works better on the street (bumps, ridges) if i loosen the endlinks on the front swaybar a little. So if you do go with it. You might want to try rubber bushings instead of poly on the front...or just go with the 1" up front. If you do use the bigger one, you can always crank down on the endlinks for autocross and back them off for street. It's not quite "adjustable" but slightly "tuneable" that way. It seems that the real road racers on here go with less swaybar and more spring/shock for track.
  3. Doesn't Canada have socialized medicine? Do you realize that we may have to bill you for our advice here? Anyhow. Keep being persistent. Call the doc in the middle of the night because it hurts so bad you can't sleep. Do that a few times and you may get his/her attention.
  4. LOL thanks EvilC. As you can see, it took him almost 2.5 seasons to post that vid. Yeah we were just cruising slightly above the limit because as you can see there are alot of hidden drives, trees, animals...drivers on cell phones. Anyhow that is one of the straightest roads in my area. Most of them are windier and more hilly. It's a perfect place to run a targa type rally, if you could close the roads. Putnam County New York , about 45 miles North of NYC. It's a very popular area with the motorcycle touring crowds.
  5. Wow, you must have had the seatbelt on. Good driving; avoiding the head-on and nice to have you still here. Get a new one.
  6. My gallery from 2005 at Syracuse http://dcerutti.smugmug.com/gallery/1796649
  7. That's why I think studded snow tires should be mandatory in certain parts of the country. I use Blizzaks but I am thinking about a set of these next time I need new snow tires for the WRX. http://greendiamondtire.com/
  8. When I was in the delivery room at the hospital waiting for my boy to be born, I turned on the TV and it was on Mythbusters. They had the rear of the white 280Z jacked up and they were driving the rear wheels with the engine while holding a matchbox car on the tire. They were trying to see how fast they could make the matchbox car wheels go before they failed. They wrapped the 280Z rear tire with duct tape to smooth out the tire threads for the matchbox car. It was weird. BTW I was wearing a Z hat in the delivery room and the TV was a zenith so it had a big Z on the front of it. Weird huh?
  9. I have about 1 pound of silly putty I mold into crap when I'm bored or when I think. )
  10. I'm not too far from you. But I don't really see anything that fits me well enough to pursue. I'm a Mech Engineer with tons of experience in project management and automation machinery and packaging design. If you ever want to talk Z we could arrange a car cruise/meet. I'm over in Putnam County, NY. Less than 1.5 hours away.
  11. My first instinct would say to reinforce the mustache bar and brackets then mount a wheelie bar bracket to that and run a bar forward to the front diff crossmember. Basically cradle the whole underside of the diff front to back with a stout frame bolted to the inner control arms bolts (upgrade the bolts) and the mustache bar mounts. Then attach the wheelie bar(s) to that frame. From the bounce on landing, it looks like you could use heavier fron damping as well....although I am no pro to drag racing suspensions.
  12. References, references, references. And references. Hire an independant inspector or supervise the job yourself if you are knowledgeable enough. While I was laid-off a few years ago, I designed and built a 1000 square foot two story extension on my house including a livingroom, den, and master suite. I got permits, hired all the trades myself and supervised, supervised, supervised. I did all the interior work myself. No matter what, there will be road blocks and forks in the road. YOU, the owner, or a representative, needs to be there to make decisions and assure quality. Trust yourself, and trust references a little.
  13. $30K is steep. $30K + HybridZ = would just about spank anything they have anyhow and you could drive it 365 days a year.
  14. Arizona? Do you even need a roof? J/K. Step back and play by the rulebook at this point. Use your common sense. By setting an example, you can instill common sense into someone else. Don't lower yourself and badmouth the initial contractor. Be the standup, knowledgeable expert and give sound advice in your feild of expertise.
  15. Has anyone heard or know anything about this club? I am sure it's pretty expensive to join. Anyone know how much? It's a pretty cool concept. http://www.classiccarclub.com
  16. Yes it should work with some TLC. You need to do more research here for the specific details. There are ALOT of details on this site that you will need to read. Getting the whole turbo motor is better. I'll give you that much.
  17. zguy..once you use RAW, you never go back. I use it exclusively also. I use Phase One, Capture One to process the RAW files. It's amazing.
  18. I use welding cable that I buy from Mcmaster.com. You can also buy the solder-on wire terminals to make it easy. Welding cable is very tough and flexible. You can buy it in colors.
  19. This is great news...and I am sticking to my prediction that the stock S30 will just about lift-off at 180mph...or have at least 1500lbs of lift. Make sure she is strapped down!!
  20. ....and wearing the speedo won't help you "get it" either. "No honey, I wasn't looking at her boobs...it's just my rooting reflex"
  21. I went for the Panasonic VDR-D300 bcause it uses the same technology as the GS500 that seems to get really good reviews. I also found it at a steal of a price. Hopefully the deal will not be too good to be true. http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/features/498999806?v_c=BizRate Now off to try to get back my $60 from Best Buy!
