  1. I can't deny I pull most of the inspiration for this project from the same place. One key difference however is I WANT to use EDIS. I'm planning on mimicking his sensor mounting, but machining a trigger wheel similar to Euro Ford DOHC Zetec motors: I'm curious if this would work as a direct replacement sensor for the Ford unit? I've found plenty of threaded VR sensors, but most seem to be intended for industrial applications. I haven't been able to find any detailed specifications for the Ford unit either, so ordering one of these may be hit or miss...
  2. This is an advanced technical forum, and a basic knowledge of automotive workings is expected from anyone posting (It's one of the forum rules even!). If you really need to know which port is which on a standard turbo then Google is where you should be looking. I hope you post your build as it progresses, but please exhaust your resources (i.e. Google) before asking any basic questions here. The forum admins, and knowledgeable old timers don't look kindly on anyone too lazy to reach out and find information for themselves, especially when it is readily available. That said, there is a wealth of information to be had here; Search is your friend, 99% of the information you need is already here! Edit: Feeling generous, see the link below, it should help. http://www.webanswers.com/post-images/D/D5/7E1F9352-1776-15A9-635212F3935DF972.jpg
  3. Metro, Saw on your signature that you are using a flywheel pickup, which is something I'm looking into doing myself. I found this thread while trying to find details on your build, and it seemed a reasonable and relevant place to ask about it. Did you ever get it running smoothly? What are the details on your flywheel setup?
  4. If no one responds this week shoot me a PM. I'm pretty sure there are a few ZXs in a yard near me and I've been looking for an excuse to go.
  5. You might have better luck if you update your location with something more specific. A hood and fenders makes for a pretty expensive shipping fee...
  6. The STi is named Jessica, the Z will be called Melissa once she's breathing. ...What can I say? I like listening to the Allman Brothers Band while driving, so it only makes sense to name them as such.
  7. Figured I would bump this thread to show off a project I've been working on. Initially I used the factory banjo fitting and had -8 AN fittings welded on near the base of the fitting, removing most of the hard line. This worked, but put the lines at an awkward angle. It was mostly an aesthetic problem, but it bugged me enough that I decided to redo the whole thing with a new set of lines. Here are the new lines: They still need a bunch of polishing, and eventually zinc plating, but they should look great with the black AN fittings and black braided lines I plan to use.
  8. Sounds like the recipe for metal fatigue. Most metals can't stand up to prolonged high heat, much less direct contact with fire before they change on a molecular level.
  9. This reminds me of the kid I encountered with an R34 bodied Honda Accord... I asked if the headlights were real R34 pieces. He responded "No, they're SKYLINE headlights". ...it was a short conversation.
  10. Sorry to hear about the car, but I'm glad that you and your family came away unscathed. Other guy sounds like a real winner...
  11. Subscribed: I've got a lexan project in mind, eager to see how this one comes out.
  12. I've got the S12 calipers and drilled/slotted rotors... And if I had a running motor I would be able to give an opinion! The look pretty sharp though! They are from R1 Concepts, and were very reasonably priced.
  13. The 240sx unit is something I was going to suggest! While the initial cost of machining the bell housing seems like it would make this an expensive option, the low cost and ease of finding the KA-5 speed easily offsets the difference. I've literally had someone deliver a KA transmission to my door for $50. Supposed to have 65k on it if I recall correctly? Doesn't really matter when I can replace a gearbox for under $100 whenever it goes bad .
  14. Looking good, I especially like the fuel rail brackets.
  15. Only donating members can post new threads in the for sale forums. Please read the classified rules before posting, the rules are enforced here unlike so many other forums!
  16. I've got one missing the TPS and most of the linkage hardware, just shoot me a PM with your shipping and we'll work something out, I've got no use for it, I only needed the sensor for my modified Weber TB. OP, if you don't get one soon just let me know. There are 240sx' on Craigslist and in the junkyards everywhere around here. I don't mind pulling one for you, but I'd be surprised if someone doesn't already have one for sale though.
  17. Eventually, perhaps. At this point I'm only looking locally so I can physically compare the two to verify it's even close enough to pursue. They are cheap enough new that I will probably go with new ones once I've confirmed they are close enough. I've even got some left over clear yellow film I used on my STi fog lights that I may use on them; got to let my inner ricer out sometimes!
  18. No measurements as of yet. I've got a line on some cracked 240z blinkers to use as mock up pieces; As soon as I've got them in hand I intend to start scouring the local junk yards. I've put a want ad on Craigslist, but haven't had any luck so far.
  19. It's not L.E.D., but I'm looking at using Saturn ION Fog lights in place of the 240Z blinkers. Here is a link to my thread detailing my plans.
  20. Many people use the zxt oil filter adapter in conjunction with coolers other than the ZX unit. Considering you've already got to make new lines most of the time, don't limit yourself to that cooler. I personally plan on running an early RX7 cooler I picked up a while back. That said, I'm sure plenty of people stick with the matching cooler.
  21. What bolt in upgrades do you offer for the L-Series? I know most of your engines are a far cry from their original form, but I'm sure there are some things those of us closer to stock might be interested in. I know I would love for someone to come up with a water pump impeller upgrade, perhaps something like the LD impeller, but easily swapped with the stamped steel units that seem to be everywhere these days.
