  1. I think Zoopseal is what you are talking about, good for 2 years... I've heard its pretty good. Or you could powdercoat them in clear also. http://www.zoops.com/zoopseal.asp The wheels turned out nice... That big surface that was polished must have been a PITA. I did the flat portions of the 280ZX 6 spoke wheels and still aren't completely happy with the finish... the aluminum is pretty soft and scratches easily... even with a non-cotton rag will scratch them...
  2. Mooresville is about 25 minutes from me.. Since the Z is parked in the barn, I have a motorsport Aero kit from a 280Z that can be used as some test pieces (as long as I can put them back on the car later ) Since its nearby, won't have to worry about shipping.. plus I would like to have a look at the tunnel in person. I'll try to get some $ to add to the donation pot also.
  3. Thanks, If I am anywhere near there, I'll be sure to hit you up... I wish I had the $$$ for the drivetrain, I would probably take it.. it would save me some time, but I am putting the money into the "other" parts on the wagon now.. (sway bars, struts, strut tubes, springs, windows, seals....the list goes on) a few of the parts have been to the paint shop for stripping and epoxy primer.. the car is in so many stages Its hard to figure out what is what.)
  4. That is a cool picture.. Nice job on the car and the pic !
  5. That is the swap that I am considering for the 510 wagon.. Nice and light engine, modern efi, and a smooth running engine at that... At least the engine part will be somewhat inexpensive.... the tranny on the other hand... I saw it done on a 240SX... that engine combo is quite a few pounds less that the KA series engine setup. How difficult is mating the 6 speed to the VQ30 ?..
  6. Ok, I know its been a while... but I finally checked out the 2 wheels I had like that. I wiped off a few spots on the inside and they are 14x6 and have "made in Japan" stamped on them.. they have whats left of a sticker that has something about SEMA certified...or something like that..one has a little curb rash on the lip.. When I go back over there, I'll take some pics..
  7. You don't need to remove the chrome before coating... I have done quite a few motorcycle rims that were purposely chromed and then coated a translucent powder to get the desired effect over the chrome.. The only time I would have it removed is if it was that cheap chinachrome that starts to peel just after you wash it for the first time Even if its a solid color to be powder coated on.. just need to scuff up the chrome a bit and coat it... as for the holes.. a metal filler (lab metal or original JB weld) will do the trick. I did a guys grill off a '72 Monte Carlo that the chrome shop wouldn't touch because of the condition (badly pitted) .. I just used a little JB weld and a wrinkle finish on the insides of the grill and chrome powder for the rest.. he was happy.
  8. While not a SLR camera, I picked up a new Canon S3IS after our old Digicam got stolen.. I am pretty happy with it.. It still has many functions that I am not familiar with.. But it works pretty well as a point and shoot camera with room to learn it more advanced capabilities, and it will shoot in high speed mode also ( one thing I wanted in the new cam ) Another thing I liked was the 12x optical zoom and the fact that it uses "AA" batteries.. I hate battery packs.. I keep a few "AA" rechargeable batteries on hand and in a pinch if the batteries go dead.. I can go a store and pick up some regular batteries for it.. All these pics were point and shoot. The last one was taken a few days ago in the dark when I was pushing out the Z to go in the barn until the wagon gets completed..
  9. Sounds like the video card might be the culprit...
  10. Thats some pretty good sized meats on that little dime. Car looks nicely done.
  11. I saw that.... its been on a couple times I noticed.... I wonder how good the worksmanship was done on the car... Fairly cheap too !
  12. Sweet.. I'm running MAME on the desktop too. I'd like to build a dedicated one sometime also... got way too many projects going on though. You outta put in a trackball off to the side or in the middle for those few games that need it.. can you get them also ?
  13. Can't wait to see it painted... My '91 SHO is Black/Black also. Its been sitting in the driveway for about a year now, It needs a good coat of paint too. If the engine wasn't so heavy I wouldn't mind putting one of them in a Z or the 510 wagon I love driving the car, it actually handles better than it looks like it should. And running it through the gears makes it that much better. I just can't bring myself to sell it....yet
  14. Nice... the compressor itself is usually the expensive piece... grab a good motor at Grainger or something and go with it.. I wish I ran across a deal like this..
  15. I picked up one of these from an incentive here at work.. Can't use it for water, but it is a fairly nice vac, wall mount, decent suction although the hose diameter is a little small from what I'm used to. Bigger hose would be a lot more cumbersome at the length that it is.... and its out of the way. (sure beats the upright I had been using ) http://www.epinions.com/content_226990657156
  16. I don't know how I missed this thread... but My condolences to you and your family, Larry. I can't imagine going through something like that even though I know that time will come eventually.
  17. If I am not mistaken, I think the car that the video is being taken from is a Porsche GT3
  18. Dumb ass thieves... Speaking of which, my Pop's tandem trailer got stolen yesterday.... I keep a loaded 9MM Ruger on hand for any "instances" that warrant it.
  19. I had that problem in the L28 block.. I replaced quite a few gaskets in a few months. Here is what you do. Get a flat file.(no handle) Lay it on the surface flat and file all around the mating surface. Do the same for the water pump (probably wont need it, or very little) It solved my gasket problems.
  20. Fastest box I have ever seen.. watch at least until 1:10 http://www.blinkerfluid.org/video/T1inLaSource-2.wmv and the story behind it. http://www.race-taxi.ch/
  21. I want this... http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e63503805 but it states that: Seller will not ship internationally
  22. Calico is right up the road a bit from me... They do quite a bit of different engine coatings.
  23. If you want it natural looking but protected.. you could powdercoat it in satin clear coat.
  24. I wonder how much time they had in this !?! http://youtube.com/watch?v=MMKbRIlzmic
