  1. Boost Logic and others, manufacture a blanket that wraps around the turbo that significantly reduces under hood temps. My buddy has one on a Neon track car and it does work. You can actually put your hand on the wrapped turbo after being on track. I'm reluctant to install one on my GT35r equipped, race car due to the possibility of damaging the turbo. I emailed Garrett for their take on the subject, but they choose not to respond. Does anyone have experience with this product or have an opinion about it's use? By the way, the hot part of my system have been Jet-Hot coated.
  2. Get safe and go fast...................In that order. Good vid!!!!!!!!
  3. Derek, This is a very interesting thread. You are doing a nice job with showing the procedure of improving flow of the basic intake design. Please show us some pictures of the Lumiweld results. Keep up the good work. Your posts are excellent examples of why Hybridz is the "tits."
  4. I have 7/16" clearance between the shaft and a big custom downpipe set up. The clearance between the bolt that goes through the shaft and the exhaust is about 1/4" and upon close inspection, there is evidence of these parts making contact at some point. The downpipe has a light "marred" area that has been touched by the bolt. This is a track car and not street driven but I have never felt these parts making contact nor has this interfered with my poor driving techniques but I may use this set up as an excuse for my slower lap times next week at VIR. It may go something like this. " I had to left early because my steering wouldn't turn." As to adding a spacer under the drivers side engine mount, I'm now considering it. Thanks for the "heads up".
  5. BJ...............Your car is moving along. Will we see it on track this summer? Good job on the fire system. Be sure the pull cable is secure and wont allow some dumba** to pull it away from the bottle.
  6. After several phone calls to fire extinguished specialist, I have discovered that it's very difficult to find someone to refill a Halon type fire bottle. Apparently, the powers that be have decided Halon is destructive to our atmosphere and that production of Halon is no longer allowed. However, it can be recovered, stockpiled and then reused until the current supply is depleted. This sounds way to political for my "pee" brain to understand. Bottom line is that I shipped my bottle back to the manufactured in CA and for the tidy sum of $170.00 they will refill it. Ouch!
  7. BJ.........Are you trying to say something. Is that an insinuation? HaHa!!!
  8. Building a car is a lot like being self employed. It's not the "glamour picnic" that many would hope it to be. Tons of dedication and motivation are required. For me it's easier to plan the job at hand in segments and set goals to complete each segment. It's easy to become overwhelmed by the big picture way down the road. Find a friend who can provide a little help. Hang in there! Rome wasn't built in a day.
  9. This family's sadness touches my heart. She is not unlike the many other brave young warriors that have given their all to defend our freedom. I am and well be forever grateful.
  10. Alan, No fire thank goodness! Some dumba** inadvertently set off the system while working on the dash area. And man, was that a rush! For the first few seconds, I didn't realize what had happened and sheer terror struck. After which, I knew my wallet had just taken another racin' hit.
  11. I need to recharge my Safecraft 5# fire system bottle. I live in SC. Can anyone suggest where I can have this done other that shipping it to the manufacturer in CA?
  12. I really like your car. It should inspire many! Why did you install the alum. parts where the hatch meets the body at the rear?
  13. My zxt has auto climate control. Last winter, I didn't have any heat under boost and discovered a bad vacuum line at the carbon canister. After replacing the line all was well. Great heat and very cold ac when needed. Now that warm temps have arrived here in the South, my ac blows warm under boost. It's very cold at idle and off boost. Any ideas? I have read posts about converting to a manual climate control system but don't want to go that route. Is there a particular device that provides the climate control with vacuum while engine is boosting? Why would a change in exterior temps, ie: the arrival of Summer, effect the air conditioning?
  14. I've been using Superlites for several years on two different cars. They are a tried and proven, well made part with readily available replacement parts. What else could you want in a brake setup?
  15. JT1.....How does the unit connect to my power source? What type of connector is used?
  16. Data Logger Users Two of the most popular and affordable data acquisition systems for race cars that I have seen in use are the GX2 and the Traqmate. Both are GPS based, and are similarly priced. I have talked with satisfied users of both systems and would like to purchase one when the eagle lands again. Are there any opinions out there in HybridZ land as to why one system may be better that the other?
  17. Jon....Can you post a pic. of your "jack" point?
  18. This has been ask and answered many times......but I'll be nice. Print this picture and post it where you need it.
  19. The core/freeze plugs (How's that for politically correct diplomacy?) are easily removed by using a heavy screwdriver or punch. Just punch a hole in the center of the plug and twist it outward. It the plug moves back into the block you can grab it with pliers and pull it outward. If you plan to have the block dipped for cleaning, I would also remove the oil galley plugs. They are removed in the same manner. Your machinist can install new ones or you can do it yourself with the correct tool or by improvising by using a plug sized socket to tap them into place. It's not rocket science
  20. Carolina Motorsports Park was the perfect place to be yesterday. The sun was shining, temperatures reached the low seventies and there were many good cars on hand for The Turn One event. Jt1 was there with the bad a** white sbc 240 car. As usual he is the hot shoe! Member Mark brought out has new IMSA style, wide body, LS1 powered 240 track car for a first day shake down. This car has a list of goodies complete with dry sump and even though it was run at 80% for this test day............it is a very well driven rocket ship that will fly the "z banner" high. Just a few more bugs that need to be worked out and it will be aforce to be reckoned with here in the Carolinas! Good job Mark.
  21. Verrrrrrry Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Autometer tech support. When all else fails, ask the ones who know.
  23. I have been using Fidanza flywheels for a few years. Both are installed in high HP, high reving z cars and have experienced no problemos whatsoever.
  24. Have your "programed" the spedo per Autometer's instructions?
