  1. I'm using Modern Motorsports 4 bolt cv adapters with a 3:70 zxt differential in my 78 280 track car. The inner cv cage has been reversed to shorten the axles per MMS instructions. My car is very low. The front rocker panel is at 5" and the rear at 5.5". I'm running 2.5 degrees negative camber with 1/8" toe in on the rear and 16" 265-45 tires. During very hard cornering and subsequent suspension compression, I'm destroying inner cv joints. I have gone through five axles to date. My new axle man has informed me that effective cv travel has been limited by reversing the inner cage. and in-there the problem lies. But, the axles are too long and will not fit without reversing them. Also, I have Ross's adjustable rear control arms and they are adjusted out about as far as they can be moved safely. Has anyone else had this problem? My axle man has suggested having shorter axle shafts made. Can anyone recommend someone who can make custom axle? Is there another solution to my dilemma? Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

  3. Harry, It's time to spend some of the rusty Coast G. money and freshen up the motor.
  4. Dear JT1, AKA."chicken". My car is much slower that yours, so that makes me a "pep".
  5. I'm not a big drag fan but that car really rocks! The vid gave me goose bumps!
  6. Are you using a boost controller? I had one that buzzed.
  7. UPDATE ON AERO TESTS....... Due to a scheduling conflict at the facility, a new date in late April has been secured. Also, we have been promised the support of MSA and APR Performance. MSA will be sending us a few items we are missing from their line up of aero parts and APR will provide an adjustable rear wing to be tested.
  8. We need to hear more about GOOD COMPANIES to do business with. So this is another one. I wanted to have a new driveshaft made due to installing a G-Forec transmission. They took my order, shipped it two days later, and UPS delivered it in two more days. Great service and first class product. http://www.thrashdriveshaft.com/ Driveshaft Specialist Inc. 4838 West Avenue San Antonio, TX 78213
  9. I meet JT1 (John T.) at a track event a few years ago. He has been a valuable source of information and he also turned me on to Hybrid Z. Thank you John.
  10. Another update on Gforce t5...The new gear box shifts good with the long shifter being very precise. The transmission does have a whine but I actually like the sound. The .90 fifth gear really fits my setup and provides all the speed I need in combo with the 370 differential. All in all, the people at Gforce came through for me and I would recommend them to those in need of a high end five speed.
  11. I had a Featherlite 3115 open trailer that met many of John Coffee's recommendations. If I remember corectly, it weighed in around 1100 lbs and was extremely well made. I don't think you will find a better made open trailer on this planet. http://www.fthr.com/trailerimages/3111/3111-curbside.jpg
  12. Update on the T5 Installation. I received the T5 from G Force a few days ago. I found G Force to be easy to deal with and the gear box was shipped to me in about two weeks after they received the core I sent to them. The installation was straight forward with no surprises. I had a new 3" aluminum drive shaft made due to the difference in length of the T5 compared to the 78 box a had been using. No modifications were needed to the tunnel area but the T5 does set forward about an inch more that the stock gear box and the Long shifter I installed does set up higher and through the hole in the tunnel. I don't know how this would effect those who have all the stock interior stuff around the shifter due to my car being a gutter track car with only the bare essentials. I haven't driver the car yet but will be at Road Atlanta next weekend for a track event and I will post my driving impressions at that time.
  13. Nice job. Is your trans a Borg?
  14. I'm using a Powermaster, single wire. powermastermotorsports.com
  15. I used the services of DAS (Dependable Auto Shippers) several years ago with good results. The car arrived on time as promised.
  16. The pilot shaft that Gforce uses is the same lenght and diameter as the original one but the splin is 1 1/8" x 26. I will not be able to use my original clutch. However, I'm using a Centerforce DFX clutch setup and Centerforce will change the clutch hub to fit the new size input shaft.
  17. TimZ, G Force is using my NWC tailhousing and is modifying it for me. The input (pilot) shaft will remain the same. How much farther forward will the new shifter be? How much do I need to alter the stock hole in my tunnel?
  18. My T5 (NWC) is at G Force and will hopefully be ready for me to install within the next few weeks. I read a post somewhere, pertaining to modifications needed to install a T5 in a 240, but I'm installing it in my 78 280 body and it will have an aftermarket Long shifter. Will any modifications be needed to the shifter/tunnel area for this install? John Coffey's sticky says the length of the T5, from the bellhousing to the center of the shift pivot, is 29 inches. This is about 1/4" shorter that the same dimension of the five speed I removed from the car. Any other installation tip on the subject would be very helpful.
  19. I drained, what probably was, the original factory transmission gear oil from my 60,000 mile, 82 zxt. The fluid did not appear to be ATF. It appeared to be "normal" gear oil. I replaced it with Redline 75W90NS. My T5 shifts smoothly and is very quiet. I think I made the correct fluid choice.
  20. Z Racer...Private message me at mayolives@aol.com. I have a zx rear louver.
