  2. kinda what i was thinking as well. cheaper to get parts for too, shifter isn't a big deal. prolly get a hurst or b&m for it
  3. alright, since it's pretty much a given i'll blow either one up eventually. i have both a 5spd 81 zx tranny, and bw 5spd. which one would be less likely to barf. looking around 350-400 ft lbs. or around 330 rwhp. i have heard several different answers for each.

  5. after seeing what was brewing in my bell housing. im going for a rebuild. looking for suggestions while it's in pieces, somethings to change out for better {if any} or if i have a 2 plus tranny or not. or a rebuild kit for that matter. one ear tranny if that helps any
  6. nope, just a half *** witty topic, the motor and tranny were pulled to do some work to em. the tranny is about dead. the cam is screwed. so im going through them both to get them back up to par {by my standards at least}
  7. hmmmm, so i may have to hunt down a spare 2 v pulley then, because after reading some of the horror stories, i really don't feel like droppin another 3k on a bottom end again
  8. if a motor is balanced internally, the external dampner/crank pulley shouldn't affect it right? just me thinking again, since im going through my motor and checking the health of it, and swapping in some big nasty go fast goodies while im at it. to euro dampner or not to euro damnper, that is the question
  9. i was going to do the 9000 series {black and silver jobbies} custom made by me for the car. just when ever i get around too. im going to the hidden wires {factory harness} and just an over all color matching scheme under the hood {black and silver} my artsy fartsy side is commin out

  11. i was leaning to the make it yourself taylor 9000 wires, since they match the color scheme under my hood. aside from the red block
  12. alrighty kiddies, two choices accel taylor {limited on what i can get here at work} what i was going for is black and or stainless steel braided. i don't mind putting them together, since they don't make a SS kit for the lonely z car the bad thing is, only accel has the you do it yourself kit, with a male dist cap, and a 5/8 boot. or i can do just get some plain olf ngk's like im runnin now, but would rather go for a better wire
  13. i can see that, after 2 years of not being cleaned and never removed. yea, sounds logical. motor is commin out next weekend so im not worried about it
  14. tiz true valid point, at least it's a 10 dollar fix, or a 3 dollar tube of silicone fix. just annoying, never had one problem till recently
  15. alright, took a small trip in the ole z today, moving it to a garage to pull the motor. sounds easy doesn't it? WRONG! rollin down the road, i race a friend of mine in his bolt on sti. nifty, door to door till 120. nothing big here. about 3 miles up the road, i see a squirt of oil hit the windshield. hmm, great get to where im goin, the whole passenger side of the block is covered in oil! source, valve cover gasket, BRAND NEW FELPRO 14 dollar sucker too. the car must know something i don't, hell the cork gaskets didn't leak this much, just the occasional dribble. oh well, time to pull it
  16. you want a safe 11k? hmmm alright rb26dett full build, head, bottom end, around 30k in the rotating assembly alone. about 5-6k in the head. then comes the engine managment. the v-pro can handle it with a xs engineering ignition box. aka, dieman motorsports r33
  17. more or less oils that are specific for racing, i know vavoline has a couple different weights, but aside from that, i haven't heard anything else from people

  19. with said mods on the cobra, with a good driver it should pull low 12's high 11's with a decent tune, and some dr's. they are really gonna be butt hurt when i pop my hood and they don't see a turbo
  20. in stock form they aren't much, tires, programmer, x pipe, and an intake they are a 12 second car with a good driver. me personally, im door to door with them till 120. go 140 whp!
