  1. A car is only worth what someone will pay. Let them ask $10k... if someone buys it, YAY! If not, they will lower the price.
  2. Blah... this thread grosses me out. PS... those Jonny Ricer vids have been around for years now. Old news.
  3. Stiff as hell coil overs... Traditional struts will still allow for a lot of body roll. Body roll = bad for drifting.
  4. I personally LOVE the 79-81 taillights... and can't stand the school bus LED conversions some have done. But that's just me. Floating around cardomain and prolly here too, there is a 280zx owner who put Mustang tail lights on... another guy used Dodge Stealth? (Dodge something) tail lights. Search around...
  5. ALWAYS check the basics before digging in deep... Timing? Spark plugs? Cap? Rotor? Wires? Efi connections? Sensors? Proper fluid levels? Vac hoses? etc etc etc...
  6. LoL... it means it's been rebuilt / balanced. They use paint as a position marker.
  7. Have you tried SEARCHING my young chap? http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=92930&highlight=barrel+carb http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=119730&highlight=barrel+carb http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=118737&highlight=barrel+carb http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=110767&highlight=barrel+carb The list goes on and on and on and on.... As for the timing chain... unless it's broken you likely DON'T need to replace it. They are double wide and very durable. If you rebuild the motor, then replace it. Cams... again, SEARCH. There's many many many threads about cams. w00t!
  8. PS... It's a FLORIDA license plate, not NEBRASKA:
  9. Who's got access to CARFAX? Looking up the VIN might give more info.
  10. quick lesson on abbreviations... TT = TwinTurbo http://www.twinturbo.net dood....
  11. Those are universal lights. Looky... ones for a 280Z!!!!!: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissan-Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-Projector-Headlight-Kit_W0QQitemZ180180443173QQihZ008QQcategoryZ33710QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem I really REALLY suggest you do some research on how HIDs work. You can't always just slap in some bulbs and expect it to work right. While fabbing my projectors I found that the focus point is very important and the traditional bulbs aren't set the same distance from the focus point as the HID bulbs. Long story short, throwing HID bulbs into normal bulb slots may make the light worse.
  12. The reason they want you to change the rockers is because the stock rockers & cam have a certain wear pattern after all those miles. If you put a new cam in, the stock rockers can wear the new cam lobes as well... doesn't always happen, but it's a possibility.
  13. And the projector lens? HIDs must be focused... Might want to study how HIDs work before buying that.
  14. Addition yes, substitute no. Being cheap = future problems / headaches.
  15. Clicky.... http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/cam/index.htm
  16. Buahhaa. When someone says "How much hp can I get?" I say... "How much money do you have?"
  17. Reasons an engine won't start: #1... Improper amount of fuel (either not enough or too much). #2... No spark. #3... No air. Do you still have spark? Do you have fuel pressure?
  18. 79-81 non turbos have the twin black scoops. 81 turbo and all 82-83 have the turbo "NACA" hood scoops. You should prolly read up on the history of the 280zx: http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z6299/default.aspx http://www.zcca.org/pages/ZCarsZhistory.htm http://members.aol.com/KarlWS/zhistory.html http://www.zhome.com/History/10thAnniv.htm Oh... the joys of using Google.
  19. That depends on availability of turbo parts. Do you want to spend a lot of time and money buying each part you need, or just find a complete turbo motor w/ all needed parts? You can build a good flat top turbo motor, but like Ron just said: Building a lower compression motor allows for more power at full boost... high compression allows for quicker response. If you want a monster motor, build a flat top turbo, studs all around, metal head gasket, head and valve work, strengthened rods, hybrid turbocharger... etc etc etc. You should also read these 2 books before starting:
  20. SEARCH my friend... we already have threads on the swap. Yay! PS... Welcome to Hybridz. Yes, you need the L28ET ecu and harness (if you want to make it easy on yourself). No, it's not hard if you know how to read wiring schematics and aren't colorblind.
  21. No.............. And the L28ET ecu doesn't use a MAF, it uses an AFM.
