  1. What's caked on the inside of your hood?
  2. Upgrade to the Early C cam. People say it'll give you a better powerband.
  3. My momo hub is 3" if I recall. When I had my quick release the total length was 5" and the quick release was 2" I think. I use a flat Momo race wheel.
  4. You match the collar to the flywheel. taken from: http://datsunzgarage.com/engine/index.htm " In other words, if you have a 2+2 flywheel, you need to change the throwout collar to a 2+2 version. A coupe flywheel uses a coupe collar.
  5. You could also wire it independently with a relay and a simple switch. All it needs is ground and power I think. But like miles said you should really have an oil pressure cutoff switch.
  6. I remember reading about it a few years back, I think it's awesome he finished up with it. He has a lot of love for his trade then most normal people
  7. Dude that's awesome. Your Z is an eye catcher apparently heheh
  8. That slight bend won't be a problem since when you torque the head down it will straighten it out. I don't know why you didn't just go to Autozone a pick one up/order it. Either way I wouldn't change the head gasket with out knowing for sure that it is the problem, mainly because its a pain in the butt. My Z smells like burning oil under intense acceleration as well. I'm 22. Live with it. I just add oil every now and then and fix any exhaust leaks since that's more than likely why you can smell it. Another possible cause of your oil smell could be the engine is just plain old. Rings are worn out, which is more than likely. Doesn't mean it will blow any second, it could stay like this for 5-10 more years. I would just drive it. Get a spare motor rebuilt at you're financial leisure just in case. Or just get a JY spare. Valve job is easy. There is a really good step by step process all with pictures floating around on the internet. I just don't have it favorited on the comp I'm using right now. Takes 30-60 mins. Edit: Winning..... http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/1803105 You may consider taking it to a welder to have them fit some floor pans nice. Or you can just buy the floor pans and bring it to a welder. Won't be terribly expensive if you strip and prepare everything for him. Rumbly sound could be more than U joints. Possibly diff or diff mount. Could be an unbalanced drive shaft or loose bolt also ( I would check those ASAP, losing your drive shaft at 70mph sucks)
  9. Blackdragon has the rubber trim, but I don't know where to get the actual metal portion of that trim. Junkyards maybe. The thing is those were sometimes pop riveted in place so you'd need to drill it out and then use your own way to install it on your car. Most weather stripping can be bought from Blackdragon as well.
  10. That's pretty awesome. You can also go 5 lug now pretty easy. Have you measured everything out height wise (I think)? I remember thinking when I just had my coilover welded on it wasn't that much different in height from regular shock and spring. The s13 hub will only add like 2 inches to that.
  11. Yeah just drain and refill. Catch all the fluid with a clean pan and since its fresh put the proper amount back in.
  12. You can drive a smokey L28 for a longggggg time. My neighbor had a 240z that would smoke a decent amount for 3 years, he told me he normally added a quart of oil every 1500 miles. He drove that thing to work EVERY day rain or shine. You need to research what you want for your turbo swap. I spent a good couple weeks talking to people, reading, and looking for deals. I tried once before to do a turbo swap with a full car, and that didn't go as planned as I had to move and basically parted the car out. I bought it as a running turbo 280zx for $600. Now I'm planning on just turboing my engine with stock boost levels. Basically got a great deal on most of the big parts, just need to clean and prep everything. You need to read first ask questions later. And also tell us your budget. The stuff you are naming costs probably more than you can afford, unless your parents got deep pockets. Let me tell you that $1000 will get you a full turbo swap if you do all the work yourself.
  13. Just sell me the car. I'll take it for $500
  14. Dual Su's is referring to the carbs. You can drift with like 150hp. PurePontiacKid is doing it with SU's as FricFrac said and another memember on ratsun, Awful hero, is also doing it on stock efi. http://youtu.be/JqLpViCcLHE Leave drifting to 240sx's. They are a much better platform since you have complete adjust ability with the suspension( at least compared to the s130), and have a bigger aftermarket. Plus they are a dime a dozen. Hence why I picked one up to DD. If you want to feel what a decent 280zx should feel like, drive down to daytona and I'll go for a drive with you. Also unless you're referring to v8 when you say carb'd, you would need to spend a lot (compared to a simple turbo swap) to get 220hp.
  15. I have Ross pistons in my L28, and I know ITM makes them also.
  16. Seriously clean all contacts, maybe a new set of injector pigtails, new cap and rotor and coil if yours is still stock( could be going out). You don't need a true dual, it just adds weight and clutter under the car. There isn't much to really do to a stock L28. Now if you upgrade your suspension and change all your bushings you will notice a huge difference in how it drives and what it's like to put that measly 150hp (on a good day) down to the ground. edit: more pics of damage and engine bay and interior
  17. I would definitely trust pmc. Also you're "higher rpm" set up involves a lot more than just rods, such as cam, head work, intake, and exhaust. I'm sure for what you want, you can easily get it with either l24 rods and custom pistons, or some l28 rods with much cheaper ready-to-order forged pistons edit: if you're boring to 89, then you can just use forged 240sx pistons which are plentiful.
  18. Dang that was a read. Nice work. That seatbelt position is not safe. You want them higher up in the rear, like strut tower level.
  19. My friend went through 3 slaves before he got one that worked. Very possible it could be defective. Have you seen any leaking anywhere in the system? lines or firewall?
  20. Rayven that is exactly what I would like to do one day after I completely strip a car down. I want to completely rewire the car with all toggle switches for relevant items ( head lights, wiper, elec fan, toggle for turn signal) just to get rid of the the combo switch.
  21. My Kei office coilovers have a rubber bushing on the rear, my friend thought it was weird since most come with monoball. I just knew it needed some movement for compression.
  22. What's the size and offset of the rims?
