  1. Worse comes to worse, there's a manufacture thats been discussed here and on zcar.com that sells the elements based on you window size. You clean the window and then roll on the whole new heating element. I think their largest kit still wasn't big enough and it was like +$200. The other thing that I've seen is a heating element and a fan that stick you your rear window. You supply 12v and it blows hot air at it to defrost it. Mario
  2. Ok, all this talk about anti-submarine belts in race harnesses in seats has me starting to pull out my hair. From what I have seen online, the 6 point is the new way to go. 5 point is still OK, 4 point is mostly for autocross, not really road racing. Most racing seats that I've seen have the hole for the sub belt way too far forward. Other seats made for the 6 point belts seem to have them in a better position but cost a large amount of money. Putting the 6 point sub belts through a center 5 point center hole in a seat negates the advantages of a 6 point harness. Simpson Racing recommends that the 6 point sub belts be 8-10 inches apart (this will come into play later). Another way that I've seen to install 6 point harness is to run the sub belts through the side of the seat and anchor them with the lap belts. People claim that this feels like an adequate compromise between the 2 but I see no mention of it anywhere on harness install instructions (where they say do's and don'ts). Is this an adequate compromise? My car will see the occasional (HP)DEs and I need something that I won't get flack for at the track. I recently got a deal on a nice Recaro racing seat but it doesn't have the provisions for either the 5 or 6 point sub belts. How have you guys dealt with the anti-submarine belts? Do you think I'll be fine with routing the 6 point sub belts through the sides? Thanks, Mario
  3. Has anyone used this starter? http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=WWA&MfrPartNumber=16209&PartType=123&PTSet=A'>http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=WWA&MfrPartNumber=16209&PartType=123&PTSet=A (http://www.partsamerica.com part number 16209 if the link doesn't work) It's a remanufactured starter for $17 with a limited lifetime replacement warranty. Anyone try it? For the price I wouldn't mine the occasional inconvenience of replacing it if it's free... My gear reduction one has finally died (seems like a short) and the cheapest gear reduction ones are $70. Mario
  4. How much track time will you car get? If you're doing it mostly for looks (or to match a seat) and your car doesn't see much track time, there are 4 point (and maybe 5 point) seatbelts that are DOT approved available as well. What my friend does is arrange his harness so that it looks like a 3 point belt from outside when he drives his around Mario
  5. Sounds great! Now tell Chris to stop recording the glove box! Mario
  6. Nice! How do gauges fare outside the cabin (for those without garages)? Mario BTW What intercooler is that?
  7. I used to spend a lot of time online... But with a track day this Saturday and my new bike project (72 Honda CL350) I haven't been online much... The bike is almost down to a bare frame, just the triple tree, swing arm, and tires to go... But now my back is killing me so I'll be around more.... Mario
  8. Last I heard their quality was so so and they weren't really willing to ship to the US. I think Frank280zx has one of their G-nose kits for the ZX, which I think look absolutely amazing!!! Mario
  9. I thought it was great as well! Definitely not a godzilla movie! Some parts are downright creepy/chilling, but man what an experience... This one is MADE for digital theaters, make sure you see this in theaters, as I don't think you'll get the same experience out of it otherwise... Mario
  10. I haven't looked into it at all but I thought that they could be controlled by a duty cycle almost like a boost solenoid, and that's how some people have gotten the VG to work. A while back, I think it was Mack that posted a link to a mustang running one. Mario
  11. Something easily overlooked is the TPS. If you wire it backwards the MS box goes into "flood clear" mode and doesn't squirt fuel. Mario
  12. I don't think so but the dimensions have been posted. Other mounting options have been posted as well... Just an FYI Mario
  13. I think it should be repairable... If you can't find anyone in the states that will do it I bet someone in Mexico will Good luck! Mario
  14. Depends on the o-ring injector. Some people use them, and what they do is just slip the hose over where the o-ring normally goes. Depending on the injector, that might require cutting off some of the plastic around that area. Make sure you use good quality fuel injection clamps. Mario
  15. Google Real Media Alternative for a codec. This thread is really cool and informative, but could we possible get some cliff notes for us dummies (like me?). Thanks, Mario
  16. Nice car!!! I wanna film my car now too... It'll be the worst looking one out of the bunch =P Mario
  17. Can you post more pictures of your car? The one you posted has me itching to find out how that front looks from other angles... For the stripes, how bout one big one offset to the side, or a big one with a small one next to it down the middle. Kinda like this |[] Mario
  18. I've driven mine through 4 winters in the mountains. I would put at least a bag of dog food or cement in the back, it helps immensely. Just take it slow, be REALLY weary about the drivers/conditions around you, and give yourself lot of extra time. I always avoid steep roads if at all possible. Getting into some parking lots required some speed to make it past the mush and ice and not get stuck. If you get stuck, rock it back and forth until you get enough momentum to free yourself. It might be a good idea to keep 2 pieces of wood in your Z to put under the rear tires for traction in case you get stuck (and you can use them to dig as well). Or buy studded tires. I have a set but have never used them. Mario
  19. It sounds so smooth when it's not idling!!! Sounds sick! Congrats!!! Mario
  20. I think the "cold" start is only tuneable to 160deg. It's not really a map either. I'll have to double check. And MS does have a tuneable "priming pulse" every time it is powered on. It seems like it was heat soak and an innacurate water temp sender (for the gauge not MS). The car was running a lot hotter then I thought. A 4 core rad and distilled water with Water Wetter seems to have fixed the problem so far. Plus the car is running great! Mario
  21. There's 2 local speed shops that stock them here, made of stainless and only $10 each. Some diesel shops might if you look up a gasket for the Holset's that bolt up to the L series manifold. Mario
  22. I hate the wii condoms. We play without them at my place lol. Mario
