  1. This Friday SIR will be having a test and tune. $20 to run all night. I need to Seafoam my car and install a new HEI module. It seems my module is getting heat soaked because if I run my car hard over and over again my tach goes crazy over 5k rpms and I start to ping on the top of 3rd and 4th. I have new fuel in there and my a/f is almost rock steady at 12:1 and I've retarded my timing and it still does it, but only when it's heat soaked. I ran it just warmed up last night and it pulls like a mofo when it works right Mario EDIT: Pic was taken up at the end of Grant, turn left, then a right at the police academy and it starts to go uphill. There was a little turn off there so I stopped and took the picture.
  2. Good luck Dan! And to all the members in those areas as well!!! Mario
  3. Sounds like a friend's Greddy BOV that changed sound dramatically once we changed it's position after the Megasquirt install. I love the stance of the car, what exhaust are you running? Mario
  4. Nice that you got it running. I swapped out the headgasket in a backyard the day you called, so mine's running also. About the relay, my fan one did the same thing. I thought it was bad because my connections were good so I unplugged it and plugged it back in with no issues at all... Stupid electronics... Mario
  5. If you have power to the fusebox, and well, since the 240z doesn't have an ecu, can't you just jump the starter to turn the engine? Well, that is unless the fuel pump is electric... Mario
  6. Jeez, I only used what they sent and the cover was on for a long time. Did you only glue down the edges like the instructions said? It has to be able to move around slightly as it expands and compresses. Yea, and you might have to trim some areas on the cover itself. Just keep dry fitting it until it seems to fit alright, then glue it down. Mario
  7. Someone locally recommended brake cleaner and compressed air. I don't know if the break cleaner will harm seals/rubber though. Mario
  8. "Dashmat" makes them. Just go to a place where they sell them and they should be able to order it. Mario
  9. If you have a cat and/or a non straight through muffler you can kiss them goodbye with something like this... Unless it has a 2 step "launch control" function, I kinda see this as pretty ricey, and a fast way to get a ticket... Mario
  10. Some people velcro it on, but it's normally installed with silicone to "glue" it down. There are some drawbacks, on some Zs it makes it really hard to get the gauges out the "easy" way. Mario
  11. Would they work with custom rails or is that as low as they can go? Mario
  12. I believe it's completely different. My friend building a Z for LSR was telling me the specs a while back, but I sadly can't remember them. All I remember was run as much caster as possible but still allowed within the rules and your car. The specs might actually be in the rule book for the salt flats. Mario
  13. I meant the "big" kit which they also sell with the 1 1/8" and 7/8" rear. Mario
  14. The early z31 one is the same as the KA one. The late z31t is the same as the z32/rb25 trans. Mario
  15. Thats really weird. It doesn't seem to be loosing power if it's not counting resets. What it could be doing is losing the RPM signal. Are you using the ZXT distributor? You might want to check your wiring to that. Also, on my dad's install, we managed to pinch one of the wires inside the DB37 connector and it was shorting out with the case, causing a similar problem. Check the innards of that too. If you can't get it to work this afternoon, give me a call, I'll swing by with my box and we can try swapping it out. Mario
  16. From what I've gathered from reading, Zs like harder springs and softer sways. in fact lots of people on here believe the S/T set as being too big. Mario
  17. I've seen 240z steering wheels on 280z's and ZX wheel's on 280z's as well. The adapters for Grant and MOMO wheels are the same for 70-83 Zs. So I still think they are the same. Mario
  18. I'm pretty sure the 280z's did. The earlier ones in the AFM (hence when some of the front fire they shut off haha) and the later ones with the oil pressure switch (like the 280zx's). Mario
  19. I believe so yes. Also, smaller wheels = more leg room (especially with those with higher seats). I love my 13in wheel, almost looks like it's from those video game wheels haha. Mario
  20. Get a noide light from autozone and see if the injectors are firing. What year is your Z? If it's a 78, you can put the key in the on position and unplug the oil pressure switch to activate the fuel pump. I think your injectors aren't firing. Mario
  21. Do the plugs look fuel fouled? Also, what year is your Z? What motor etc... If the plugs are fuel fouled, some starting fluid and a wire wheel should be able to bring them back if you don't have a sand blaster. Mario
  22. The connectors could be so brittle that the connection finally broke on the inside (or the harness to that connector). At least that's what happened to my CHTS and was causing the same symptoms when I was on stock electronics. A multimeter would help immensely right now, and without it it's all speculation. Mario
  23. How much more room do you need? There's always the Subaru Forestor (especially the XT with the turbo WRX drivetrain). Does the Nissan Quest come in all wheel drive? I've driven one and it was pretty nice. Mario
  24. Considering I've seen people buy RUNNING turbo cars for cheaper then a motor, and have seen people part out engines and make a lot of money off them, I can't see why you can't afford the engine but can all the components. Just search around, if you can be patient you'll find something. And if you're thinking about modifying (what I gathered from the t3/t04e), I recommend not to bother with the stock ecu, fuel pump, and injectors. Search on this as it's been HEAVILY discussed... Mario
