1. I did, great to do business with. The Stage4 kit is great
2. Well it does matter. On an LT1 the stock Z28 cable attaches to the throttle body and goes directly to the cruise module. The electrical cable goes from the cruise module to the switches.
3. Cool, that's different for sure. 9000 rpm will sound awesome, get some video of that puppy.
4. The first one to pop up on a Google search is going to be showcars.com. Search here to see what others have experienced with showcars. I eventually got my parts (bumper and spoiler) but they were NOT the best I've ever seen and showcars was totally uncaring in their response. I will never deal with them again. Just saying be warned about them. Good luck on your search.
5. Thanks Mike. You coming to DNI this weekend?
6. Good question and I really don't know the answer. The Taurus fan pulls a ton of air 2500 (low speed)-4500 (high speed) depending on which model you have. If you are running AC, oil cooler, automatic tranny cooler you obviously need more CFM. Adding a V8 to our cars requries more cooling too. You don't want to cut corners on this one, the results can make a daily driver a nightmare if you start having cooling issues in traffic. A few dollars here will be well worth it. The Tarues fan can be found pretty reasonably priced. And DO NOT use those through the radiator mounting things, they wil eventually take out your radiator.
7. Ebay find. They are actually Peterbuilt marker LED lights. I had the bezels black powder coated. They are still sold on EBay. BTW The screw holes line up with the 280Z holes.
8. Well ther 14" has a CFM of 1850 seems a little weak.
9. Yes, running stock 280Z hubs 114.3X4, the adapters are really spacers with 114.3 pattern. I got them from MM http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6&PHPSESSID=c78693e4b417aae719f57952270f3e93 They have 2 sizes depending on the offset you need, +36 or +40. The wheels are 17x7 ADR Phantom I got off EBay. The wheels will fit either 100 or 114.3 bolt pattern. BTW I have 2 of the +36 offest I will sell for $75 delivered.
10. I have a '77 280z with 2" lowering springs, struts are NOT adjustable. My MSA air dam is 8" off the ground. I have not had any problems with speed bumps or steep driveways. I do have to watch curbs and some of those concrete bumpers they put in parking lots, they can be pretty high. I am running 215/50/17 on all 4 wheels. As far as are they worth it, I think so. I did a road trip a month ago that envolved some pretty high speed moments (hey I wasn't leading, LOL) and the car was very stable at speeds over 100 mph. Plus it makes the car look longer and lower which is cool IMHO.
11. Offset is not a problem if you run the right spacers or adapters. I am running a 40 offset wheel with 1.5" adapters. The only 4 to 5 lug adapters I've seen for our cars is a 2 piece ones and they get pretty thick, like 2".
12. DAMN!! They pretty much strip it but were too stupid to know what the wheels are worth. I hope your insurance covers your loss. Like DavyZ asked, did they catch these low lifers.
13. Here's a couple links I found very useful https://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html http://www.bigcustomwheels.com/rt_specs.jsp
14. IMHO all sports cars should have round tail lights, LOL. They are form a '85 Corvette. I made the fiberglass rear panel.
15. I wonder what they wee thinking when they produced those things with the monster front fender overlap. See ya Friday.
16. Thanks Ryan. Yeah its not much like it was in its previous life. Bummer you're not going to make it to DNI. I'd like to see your 510 wagon some day. I will be happy to give what ever advice I can offer on the hood.
17. I finally took the car out with my camera. I got the last piece of my aero package modified, mounted and painted. The side skirts are MSA type3 with the upper fender portion cut off. The rear is a highly modified Black Dragon piece I got for free, thanks Nullbound. The front air dam is a MSA type1 with a filler added to the top to meet up to my custom grille.
18. One thing to look at is the diameter of the hose ends. On my old SBC using the 280Z stock radiator the lower radiator fitting and the engine fitting were different sizes. You might want to look at http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Cooling-System-Parts_Order.html JTR has some reducers and slicers that work great if you need them.
19. How do you bleed off the air on initail coolant fills? Air get trapped in the heads of the LT1 and if you don't vent it off you can get a blockage and have overheating. If you haven't experienced that good for you but its a common problem with LT1s even in F-body cars. Thats why GM puts the vent on these engines. All these parts do is give the steam and coolant somewhere to go other than all over the engine during the initial venting to get that air out. Not an issue during normal operation.
20. Anyone with an LT1 knows what a mess getting the steam out of these engines can be. Steam and therefore water get sprayed all over everything and lord forbid even on the optispark. I was surfing around and discovered these. http://custom-car-store.yourcustomcar.com/page56.html They come with a hose you could route to catch the coolant so it doesn't spray all over the engine. I got 2, one for the thermostat housing and one for the fitting in the head steam pipe which on my car is in series with the heater hose. I haven't tried using them yet but they will be going on my new engine I am getting ready to build.
21. My 94 started and idled fine without the O2 and temp sensors. Check the fuel pressure during strating.
22. I'm running Taylor Spiro-Pro wires 8mm high temp. They have a silicone inner and outer jacket for heat protection up to 600 degrees F and low-profile silicone boots. Mine have 90 degree boots and I position them to keep them as far away from the Sandersons as possible. Over 9000 miles with no problems.
23. I bought a tap read so as you tighten it will dig into the lug and eventually unscrew it. First car I had with no key I took it to a garage, they cahged me $80 to pull 4 wheelsm what a rip. I think I bought their tool, LOL. The one I have fit Camaro wheel lugs and I found it on EBay for less than $20. Like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lug-Nut-Remover-Wheel-Lock-Removal-Kit-2pc-CTA-A155_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem518993ffd1QQitemZ350200528849QQptZMotorsQ5fAutomotiveQ5fTools You may have to pound it on a little to get it started, but it worked great, hardest part was getting the old lug out of the tool. I just noticed you live in Atlanta. I would be happy to bring my tool over to see if it will work.
24. LOL, I know thats right. During my build a friend asked how the car was coming along. I said "I'm now in my 8th month of my 2 month project"! It ended up taking a year and I'm still adding and updating stuff.
