  1. So this project involves fixing up rat damage? Lol, as long as they didn't piss in the car much, highly corrosive rat urine.
  2. You have the two cars to check and measure but it sounds like a roof transplant is required ie cut the roof (turret) off one and put it on the other. Specialist welding required but it's the sort of job any body shop should be able to do, if they want to.
  3. Well you asked for comments, guess I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish other than to convert to a five stud big brake setup. These days if there is already something available off the shelf then I don't try to reinvent the wheel, the amount and variety of S chassis suspension gear available is almost infinite and staying all Nissan has it's plus too.
  4. Forgings > billet, sounds good Mr Patten.
  5. If you are going to do a real upgrade then it should include a larger diameter hollow stub axle. I believe that S chassis Nissans have this and of course there is a ship load of aftermarket parts out there for them. Including bigger brakes from the Z32 conversion up. S14/15 are best.
  6. For a diff mount the OE one would be fine, not all poly mounts are better.
  7. Well I think that car sounds gorgeous, the engine, the transmission, the whole combination, so much better than the sanitised 'sports' pretend race cars the makers want to sell us.
  8. Skyline, I'm damn hard to please but your kit is the best I've ever seen, seriously. All you have to overcome is tight arse Z owners who want but can't pay.
  9. Depends how serious you are, low gives more grip. Make the front part removable and use a low loading trailer works.
  10. For the 6L80E if you get the complete harness and computer plus are able to connect up all the sensors etc then it should work. For a light sports car though the 4L85E is a better proposition, with a 3.7 diff you will get all the speed you need, say 260 kph with a reasonable engine. Aftermarket controllers are available if you want electronic. There is some stuff around for the 6L but no real knowledge of that. Whichever way you go it's going to be good.
  11. Not my car guys although I have followed it's back yard type development for a few years, he (Phil) is going pretty fast there but not on the limit. I do have a auto V8 280ZX but had a minor incident at the same meeting which slowed me down. Phil blew a couple of R200 diffs last year hence the 9", the year before it was engine lube problems.
  12. Still has semi trailing arm rear suspension.

    Hybrid Z Wind Tunnel Test

Can't recall if there was a complete summary of all the results plus conclusions made of these tests but something like that would be gold. Apparently Freddy at Top Stage AU has done some wind tunnel testing of aero bits for a time attack S30, pretty outrageous compared with the old school race aero.
  14. Just an observation, the 280ZX is a bitch to fit a V engine in, well a LS anyway. Specifically the exhaust, much custom $ work.
  15. S14 has much better geometry than either the S13 or Z32. But I race so that's where I'm coming from, for cruising it would not matter.
  16. Better off with a S14 rear if the track suits.
  17. Linking this to the full build diary, basically it's a fun racer with a few serious tricks, rear suspension for one. Engine will be a cammed LS3, transmission a sequentially shifted four speed Powerglide/Gear Vendors combination. No updates here, link http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/15203-the-z31-project-race-car/
  18. Not sure but one of our club members I think participated in this.
  19. Know bugger all about drag racing but with a properly set up IRS why is a LSD needed? It's not going to do any harm but LSD'd should only be necessary when going around corners.
  20. No matter how good the chassis presently is 800hp requires more strength. Like heavy section full length chassis rails for a start.
  21. Agree that the physics are everything, particularly if they can be tuned to replicate what you drive. The G nosed 240Z should be a good start for a lot of us, top speed 257kph, 300hp and 1,060kg weight plus no unrealistic aero assistance.
  22. Apparently this second version is a good thing and realistic enough for real racers who want to practice. Anyway I need to practice Bathurst circuit so a PS 4 Pro setup is on order but the best news is that several Nissans are modeled, from memory a 240Z, 280ZX IMSA turbo complete with lag and a couple of Z32's. Can't find any videos of those cars on YouTube so a V8 Supercar will have to do. What do you think, the dynamics look good to me.
  23. Super look, not many people could conceive that and pull it off, subtle yet oh so effective. It could be a completely new modern version of the S30. Seriously most modded S30's look rubbish to me but you sir have come up with the exception.
  24. For a race car I go up to 8*, problem with the S30 is getting clearance for that figure. That's a bit much for a road car though, likely to wear the tyre tread inside.
