  1. I'm looking to take down you, rdelat! I ran such a sorry time N/A with my power completely running out at 5500 RPM. Let's see what I do now with a bit more weight on the motor [Hoping to shave at least 2 seconds off...] 98 rdelat 79 280ZX Turbo 390.0 2.200 9.061@83.35 13.712@106.2 134 flatblack280 78 Datsun 280Z N/A 150.00 2.220 10.090@68.21 15.712@83.92 Wow. I should probably be more embarrassed about that.
  2. Ah yes, It's the oh-so-rare 1978 flatblack'd, rear bumpered, flat tired, "missing some pieces" 280-ZX. Haha look at the overspray on the headlamps!! http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s55/lilbc1390/124004.jpg
  3. I had the same thing happen on my 78 awhile ago with my stock ECCS rev it up, tach goes nutso. Like everyone else is saying check your wiring. I think my issue was solved after the fusible link to fuse block swap, I can't remember though, it's been awhile. If you are in doubt, do it. Those are 30 year old boxes, and I'm pretty sure I remember you telling me they are uncovered, er... covered with snow There is no way your timing jumped a chain, I don't know why that came up...
  4. What is the size of the flywheel? I am running a single piece 225mm Lightweight flywheel made for a KA24E, with no problems [but a slipping N/A OEM KA24 clutch]. I ran it on my N/A setup for over a year and it didn't start slipping the clutch until after a couple of months of boost and my young-and-dumb heavy right foot. If it is 225mm, I'd go ahead and say leave the flywheel on the 240Z and buy a 240mm Fidanza for the turbo car. I'm ordering mine this week and running a 280ZX Turbo/zenki 300ZX Turbo clutch. If the issue is steel vs. lightweight, I would definitely recommend the latter, it feels much much better.
  5. I know!!! I got so much done today, I'm ahead of schedule now. What am I supposed to do tomorrow?
  6. MegaSquirt was incredibly overwhelming for me as well, all I can offer you is to read read read. Try and start out in the MegaSquirt section here and absorb as much as possible, and then read the megamanual whenever you get the courage I had help from TrumpetRhapsody and Forrest when initially getting to know the product, and that was great to have someone answer my newb questions. Feel free to AIM me if you want to chat about it, it really does help to talk to people that have done something really similar and can tell you specific advantages/disadvatages. But, when it comes down to the Hardware in megasquirt, the harness is a piece of cake to wire up, and after seeing the V3.0 board, I would not be hesitant to build one myself. Once that is done, the tuning can begin, and that is the fun part. Good luck!
  7. Bawb and I were forced to swear at each other on our facebook walls. What a stressful day. So that means we all have a problem, right??
  8. Are you reading all of these posts thoroughly and carefully? It's for this very reason that new people get yelled at for not searching and asking for easily found answers. Nosebleed already posted this: You can't blow off on a AFM or MAF system. You'll need to recirculate. For the price of that MSA computer you could have a full stand alone... What are your power goals? I read 12 psi earlier but I don't really think you have a full plan yet. If you start buying parts without having a well laid out plan it's going to get very expensive.
  9. So hey, what sorority are you pledging in this year? Men drink beer. Women drink hard liquor and mixers.
  10. Make sure to get something light then, it'll go down easier, you can drink more, and it'll make you feel warm. Go get 'em, tiger. I once went on a hunting trip with my brother in law, it was freezing cold, and the only turkey we saw was a hen [or whatever the females are called haha] and I couldn't shoot it. I guess I'm too much of a city person, I'm just not really into hunting.
  11. I've been running them on my Z ever since I first got it, I've used a 205/55/15 and a 225/50/15. Decent to drive on, and I really like the price. I went through both sets pretty fast though
  12. I don't even know what that means haha I was debating a SBC swap and a turbo swap for a while and then happened upon a decent deal on some turbo stuff and took the plunge. I will for sure be doing an LS3 swap after I get out of University, but this is definitely keeping me entertained for now. It's also good to see my F-Body-owning friends get nervous by my little black Z car. I'm shooting for 300WHP next summer with this set up which should make me hang with the rest of the LS1 cars. It is definitely worth it, I would strongly recommend a stand alone though, it will make the swap that much easier and way more enjoyable [potential is greatly heightened over the stock ECCS crap]. Good luck, feel free to hit me up on AIM if you want to talk about the swap some more.
  13. I have the dizzy assembly/chopper wheel/sensor for a VG30ET. What is this going in? If you're doing a swap into a L28, you'll need the dizzy assembly from a L28ET.
  14. That shouldn't be the issue. When I was doing my turbo swap this summer I drained the tank and filled it with about one gallon when I started it back up. Do you have a Factory Service Manual to double check that all the hoses and everything are hooked up properly?
  15. You could always go crazy-person like me, and swap in a F54/P79 for a 8.5:1 SCR and then boost that The car looks really really good, until you get to the front. Who did the headlamp 'conversion?' Good luck with your project, looks like a great start!
  16. Read through this if you want a quick run down on all of the individual components you need for the swap: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=153195
  17. It seems like you've done your research outside of HybridZ, which is a good starting point, but all of these questions have been answered here multiple times. Also I think there haven't been any replies to your thread because most people shy away from reading a big block of text like that. Since you've done some homework, I'm going to get the spoon out. I am running the stock L28ET injectors, they are 260cc. I am already maxing them out at 8 lbs of boost on a stock L28ET setup [i'm running a higher compression NA > T swap though] I have a stock 240sx 225mm clutch, and it slipped very soon after I did the swap, you'll want to get a 240mm flywheel and 240mm clutch off of an L28ET, or just try and get the whole drivetrain out of a 280ZX Turbo. What engine management do you plan on running? What is your budget? These are all good things to know when asking questions like this. Good luck with your project, turbo swaps are definitely worth the money. I think I have about $1500 [roughly, more or less depending on what you include] in my swap with a stand alone ECU [MegaSquirt] and a Front Mount Intercooler. The difference of performance is night and day.
  18. Looks awesome! Love the interior haha. What are the plans??
  19. I get that it's messed up, but have you seen a S30 rear LCA? You'd have to really bugger something bad to need it to be replaced. I don't know, I'd try to find something close. I spent almost a year looking for an S30. *edit* Are you moving to California?? It's going to be a fortune to ship, you can find a decent car closer to you, I promise.
  20. "The rear control arm needs to be replaced" I wonder what that means.... And that paint just looks like it's hiding rust to me. Could just be crappy photos, though.
  21. Dang Supras with their stock LSDs!! At least my S30 weighs over 1000 lbs less [with me in it] than my roommate's MKIII [with no one in it]
  22. Hey big Phil, what videos are making you money on? Might help to post them here, get some additional traffic I can post it on my new local forum I just started, I'm sure they would like to see a proper Z, and you would make you some moolah!!
  23. This looks like a great project, Can't wait to see what it turns out like.
