  1. Very nice, I'm loving this project! I really like that the mounts and adapter can be sourced, makes things a little easier. Sounds like it fits better than a VH45, too. Also it's a plus that the Z33 6-speed fits in the tunnel without cutting/modifications. How's the shifter location looking?
  2. A '71 can have the early or late diff position. I don't remember what month that changed but probably around mid-year (6/71?). I bet you have a simpler issue: flip your front diff mount.
  3. That's because WD-40 is a water dispersant, not a rust penetrant. Get some Liquid Wrench, Kano Kroil or PB blaster to soak fasteners.
  4. Cool project! How is header clearance to the frame and to the steering shaft? How are you mounting the 6-speed? Keep it up!
  5. There shouldn't any tuning issues with the carbs if they're staying on the same engine.
  6. Actually, it's the opposite. Running rich and/or retarded timing will increase EGT and can cause the exhaust manifold to glow red.
  7. Don't forget deceleration as well. Wider tires up front will improve traction during heavy braking.
  8. I can't say whether it was worth it or not, but I did mine. Not the most fun job, but damn it felt good to accomplish it!
  9. I couldn't care less about what others think about S30s, personally. If some random guy doesn't like the car, what's the big deal? Just move on.
  10. 100% poly here too, tightens up the car a lot and is not too harsh for me. The only rubber suspension bushings on my Z are the two rear TC rod bushings in order to give it enough compliance without too much deflection. People complain of squeaks but I liberally lubricated the bushings upon installation with the given grease and haven't had an issue. They've been installed for over 1.5 years and thousands of miles.
  11. Oh man, that sucks big time. This is part of the reason why I put some extra insurance coverage on my Z recently. I'm in San Bruno and have SBPD in my phonebook. Thanks for posting, I'll keep an eye out.
  12. That is some FANTASTIC work! Everything is looking beautiful and I love the attention to detail. Countless hours have surely went into this build.
  13. Same as the head bolts. This would be revealed in a search of the archives. EDIT: BTW, this has absolutely nothing to do with transmission dimensions or weights.
  14. This is probably irrelevant at this point, but just for general knowledge, the more radius your air horn has, the better it'll perform. There is a point of diminishing returns, but your air horns, although beautifully crafted, could use a tighter radius on the lip. With that said, this is looking good!
  15. That's funny! I'm selling the shell from this car here: http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/109990-271-240z-rust-free-stripped-shell/
  16. Good point, I forgot to mention that as well.
  17. Not quite... It's the intake valve that has a clearance problem, not the exhaust. No L26 blocks came notched from the factory.
  18. This is looking great! Is Rockauto all out of the LD pumps?
  19. Nice, I didn't know the JDM stuff was so similar to the Nissan Comp manifold.
  20. Again, I'm 99.9% sure it's the Nissan Comp manifold, same as was used on the BRE car(s).
  21. My guess would be FET, but I don't know for sure. Looks a bit long for a Mikuni manifold, plus this one has separate flanges and a central connector which I don't see on the Mikuni. Measure the length and see if you can match it up: Triple carb intake length EDIT: Whoops, definitely not FET. However, I'm almost certain that it is a Nissan Comp piece, Ã la BRE 240Z.
