Actually what happens is the meter maids give cops tickets for parking illegally, and then the cops pull over the meter maids when they make illegal u-turns ect. Not sure how this works out in the end, or if they even get5 the tickets, or if we end up paying for them in the end. Seems to be some endless game they play according to my cousins cop friend in Oakland Ca.

The best option is probably to go megasquirt. But since you have to deal with smog i would say just fix your stock EFI, I agree it sucks dealing with it, but unless you want to do some work the easiest route is to fix it. But if you are willing to do some homework I think going with the Z31 ecu and MAF Swap would be a good idea and fun project. Its probably got the best chance of staying under the radar for passing smog. Its much more reliable and efficient over the stock electronics, and not impossible to do. And you should have no problem sourcing the parts from the JY. Im running the 300zx electronics right now and Im happy with them, for me it was super easy to install with the help of afsin thread(might of spelled his name incorrectly) Parts you would need off the top of my head: 300zx Na harness or 280zx turbo harness 280zx 82-83 turbo dizzy chopper wheel from 300zx dizzy MAf from 300zx ECU from 300zx Where you live in cali?

Ya man, like everyone says. The rust can be a bigger deal then you think at first. Get under the car and look at the floor pans, and more importantly the frame rails. And like stated before, buying a Z because its running is foolish to be the main deciding factor if your going to buy it or not IMO. The body is the most important thing. I say just be patient, and keep looking until you find a really good deal. And dont get stuck on a 240z. I would buy my Z based on what the smog laws are in your area and the condition of the body. All three models are fine and you can make a 260z or 280z look like a 240z without doing much.

I second that. Thats what I love about driving ion the the city(And THE ONLY thing I like about driving in the city) Those timed lights are aweosme. You know whether you are going to make the light or not, you never get any unexpected yellow lights when a traffic line is going through an intersection and just randomly turns yellow.

yes you need to put the washer on the urethane bushings top and bottom.

Yes,they're all turbo AFM's. I Reread your problem and I dont think it has anything to do with the AFM. If the AFM went bad your engine should be running rich. And I doubt the CHTS sensor you bought is causing these problems. If your fuel pressure is right then it still sounds to me like a big vacuum leak(especially since you said when you press the AFM flapper back it runs better)

Your welcome to use one of my AFM's to see if thats the problem, I think I have like three or four laying around. I think a I have couple chts also.

IS the car running rich or leaning out when this happens? I would suspect the AFM if rich. If its leaning out, maybe you missed a rather large vacuum hose when you reinstalled your cylinder head.

You do NOT need to remove the gas tank. It will make it easier, but its not required. I would be more worried about the bolt being rusted on there. Ive had a couple that didnt come off until they snapped. One took me about 45 mintues at the JY in the heat . And by that poiint the mounting surface on the bumper was all sorts of bent.

I just e-mailed him about it again, see if i get a response. I am tempted to go back and see how bad the damage was again to the rear. My theory is the car was perfect but once they took it out of the storage unit it got damaged sitting out there by careless people. Its too bad, the car was very clean otherwise, I didnt see any major rust anywhere on it.
