  1. First, I get to see a plane try to fly through tower 2. Then a few years later I see people standing on the wings of a plane parked in the river from the bus window as I head home after coming out of the Lincoln tunnel. Never a dull moment working in NYC! Joe
  2. Seems to me you are looking to see which motor will give you the best bang for the buck for a 5 grand outlay. Well that depends on what you are spending on the donor motor you start with. Both are very capable of putting down 400whp. My LS1 with 228 cam (there are much better cams) 5.3 heads, FAST manifold and blockhuggers through a single exhaust put down 408 whp without an aggressive tune. My advice is to shop for the least expensive motor you can find and go from there. You won't be disappointed with either motor. Joe
  3. Yes, the Electromotive forum is the wrong place to come for help! You don't have an Electromotive system, you are still using a stock distributor. I'd try posting in the L6 forum as you will surely get more people looking at your post. This forum is only for the Electromotive TEC engine management systems. Good Luck Joe
  4. Looking good Pete! You can stop by anytime! That is unless you paint your turbo car yellow and a V8 car red Joe
  5. Joe, If he goes through with his plan to paint the car Lemans Sunset I'm gonna ban him from my garage. All he would have to do is get one more car, paint it yellow, and we would look like twins! Well, almost Joe
  6. Since you found the tank to be full of rust and your gauge is after the filter, I'm sure the filter is clogged causing the low pressure situation. As Pallnet suggests, drop tank, boil, blow out the fuel lines and pump, and change the filter and you should be back in business. Joe
  7. Ahh yeah, I forgot about the project car. Hope they use it well!
  8. Wow David, that looks great! Since you said not to ask any questions on the new one, I won't. But I will throw a "dibs on the old one" when you sell it! Joe
  9. David, Did you have to bend the backing plates back to clear the larger rotors? Joe
  10. LS7 clutch Kit including the clutch disk, pressure plate and an LS2 flywheel, and also comes with flywheel and flexplate bolts for $600 http://www.tick-performance.com/tickshift/parts/ls1fbody/clutches/ Joe
  11. Mongo, I'm curious, any time I had the symptoms described above and the problem was the pressure plate, the symptoms also contained a vicious howl when the clutch was depressed and a very strange pedal feel. Was that not the case with your son's car? Joe
  12. Sure sounds like a clutch hydraulic problem to me. Check for fluid leaking around the slave and for fluid leaking inside the firewall where the clutch master rod connects to the clutch pedal.
  13. One other thing you can try is removing the gas cap. If not for nothing it will remove the chance of a vacuum situation being created by boost. I don't know how this could be but the troubleshooting step won't cost anything. Good luck. Joe
  14. Rick, Where are you taking FPR reference signal from? Have you tried taking the signal from a different port? Changed the hose you are using? Are you actually seeing the fuel pressure drop at the FPR while under boost? How is the fuel system run, looped or dead ended like stock? Joe
  15. Dustin, This is usually the case for an early style 240 console that had the shifter hole slightly rearward to accommodate a different trans shifter. The easiest way to tell which 240 console you need is by the location of the ashtray. Early car has the ashtray forward of the shifter, later 240 cars behind the shifter. Also, a 260 console will not fit if you are using a 240 dash. Joe
  16. No, 5.7 GM gas motors. Volvo Penta's to be exact. Yep, 350Z wheels. Coilovers, MM 5 lug billet axles and front hubs. Fronts need to be spaced out about 10mm so I'm trying to figure out what hats I should use to use slip on 13" rotors and PBR calipers. That should take away some of the thickness needed in the spacer.
  17. Yeah I wish! Just twin 5.7's.
  18. That was kinda funny. You're just lucky I didn't close the hatch! I have to watch what I say here. I'm gonna need some help with that cranky starter motor on the port side.
  19. Yeah, tough job you got there. Hide behind the camera and laugh at me! Joe

    S2k seats

I have mine in my 78 and lined up the rear mount on the S2K slides with the stock mount location and made custom mounts for the front. In doing it this way the front of my seat is much too high. I am thinking of changing the mounts I made to position the front of the S2K slides even with the stock seat mount holes theoretically moving the seat location back by about 3-4 inches. Next time I'll be sure to take some pichures to help out others. Joe
  21. Well Aaron you are now a true moderator. You don't have a running Z car like 90% of all the other moderators!:lmao: Joe
  22. I'd drop the exhaust at the collectors and fire it up to see if that makes a difference. This smells of critters building nests in the exhaust. Joe
