Searching around for an answer to a 5 lug question i came across this and thought i would add what i did to convert my front to five lug big brake. if you are considering sectioning your struts here is some info in a cheap ( in my case free) brake and 5 lug upgrade. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=121032 i basically section in the bottom half of a z31 from strut to the top end of my s30 coil over strut using VW inserts. You have to have adjustable control arms and tc rods as the caster is different on the z31. i was able to tune it out with AZC control arms, tc rods and camber plates. I had to use the z31 steering knuckle which also required the steering rack arms to be made longer. anyways just thought i would add my input. and as mentioned above this does move the wheel out 3/4 to an inch so a different offset is required. Also if you z32 or gtr calipers laying around it is a bolt on upgrade.

Is it still pump out black smoke? Have you tried to lean it out and it dosnt work?? if so you may have an injector problem. As for timing PUT A TIMING GUN ON IT and check it. check your cam sprockets is you have them they are know for becoming loose and fully retarding or advancing cant remember which. Again i would recommend taking back to another shop that can get a base tune done for you. it will be cheaper in the end especially if it has issues. -
Ever have someone say that to you???? you may have read this before but i find it very fitting in most military squadrons around the air force. "sir thats just teh way we do it here. based on a real experiment with 8 monkeys. Put eight monkeys in a room. In the middle of the room is a ladder, leading to a bunch of bananas hanging from a hook on the ceiling. Each time a monkey tries to climb the ladder, all the monkeys are sprayed with ice water, which makes them miserable. Soon enough, whenever a monkey attempts to climb the ladder, all of the other monkeys, not wanting to be sprayed, set upon him and beat him up. Soon, none of the eight monkeys ever attempts to climb the ladder. One of the original monkeys is then removed, and a new monkey is put in the room. Seeing the bananas and the ladder, he wonders why none of the other monkeys are doing the obvious. But undaunted, he immediately begins to climb the ladder. All the other monkeys fall upon him and beat him silly. He has no idea why. However, he no longer attempts to climb the ladder. A second original monkey is removed and replaced. The newcomer again attempts to climb the ladder, but all the other monkeys hammer the crap out of him. This includes the previous new monkey, who, grateful that he’s not on the receiving end this time, participates in the beating because all the other monkeys are doing it. However, he has no idea why he’s attacking the new monkey. One by one, all the original monkeys are replaced. Eight new monkeys are now in the room. None of them have ever been sprayed by ice water. None of them attempt to climb the ladder. All of them will enthusiastically beat up any new monkey who tries, without having any idea why. DONT settle for "thats the way we do it here" make a change.

Another word of caution on that ♥♥♥♥. It says do not air tire after putting it in the tire. DONT. had a guy at work that thought the tire was still to flat and wanted to put some air in the tire. Well i guess the stuff inside didn't like this and immediately exploded the tire and pieces hit the kid in the face sending him to the E/R. he even read the instruction and thought just a little air wouldnt hurt. well it did... literally

Take it to a shop that knows Toyota motors and get it fixed. if you have no idea what it could be your just gonna throw time money and parts at till its fixed. Your this far into it i bet its gonna be something simple -

You wouldn't happen to be using eBay injectors are you -
here is a pic of how i plan on cutting and flanging. not real worried on how it looks on the inside. I may not cut around but above the fill cap. might use some sheet metal and cover the gas door area anyways.
-
I have 2 options. cut and trim to the point i have a butt weld then weld in the panel in or use a tool like this cut fabrication time in half with this useful two-in-one tool. * Heavy duty head rotates 360° to easily crimp flanges or lap joint sheets and pipes * Punches accurate 3/16" holes for fasteners or welding * 16 gauge steel capacity Basically create a flange that the replacement panel sits in then weld it in. to me it seems if i had the flange tool it would be much easier and forgiving when the welding starts.

Changing the Lug Pattern of a wheel?
stony replied to logan1's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Now taking your hubs and having them drilled for that pattern is a different story. but as mentioned above eagles are cheap and if you didn't get those for free still probably cheaper to buy a new set -
Changing the Lug Pattern of a wheel?
stony replied to logan1's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
The labor to do that to 4 wheels will exceed the cost of 4 new ones with the right lug pattern -

Now your running a standalone correct? Your plugs are not causing you to overheat. like mentioned above its probabaly something simple like an air pocket. I would try taking the thermostat out and see what happens. if you don't have the tools to do it take it to a shop and have them bleed and pressure check the coolant system. once that is done if it still overheats the next thing you might need to is look at is if you installed the head gasket correctly. not sure on the 2J but if you install an rb26 HG wrong you can block off passages and create an overheating condition. And if you are running a standalone now take it to a dyno and get it base tuned. if will save you lots of tie and money in the long run. my base tune took around 2 hours and it was ready for the track. -
Ok i tried to send it but it was too big. either your server or my server wont allow it. here is a link http://cid-d15d93fe41d91127.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/skyline/gtr|_32|_service|_manual.pdf if that doesn't work the name of the file is gtr_32_service_manual it's a PDF and its all over the internet its 23+meg. if you google the file name you should get a bunch of hits on where to download it from.
-
if your interested i have 3 different manuals. PM me your email and i will try and send them to you. they are pretty big.
-
Well yea i guess your right there. i do have 2 grounds IIRC the small one goes under the ignitor pack and the white one goes under the coil pack base bolt. I dont have access to my motor right now or i would take look and shoot some pics. Do you have the online service manual for the rb? it has some really good pics of the engine and coil harness
-
I always cringe when i see these threads. I went with an aftermarket ECU for that specific reason. They cost more but in the end you have a cleaner NEW wire harness VS a harness that has been hacked into who knows how many times.

15x10 4' backspace diamond racing wheels
stony replied to voltron_boi's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I ran 15X10 draglites on mine with 5.5 inch backspacing with coilovers and they were flush with my over fenders. 4 inch backspacing would require rather large over fenders. These wats had i believe 4.5 BS -
The red car will be on the street ;>
-
Weight reduction on the black Z. think the BAMF over fenders will fix this ;> Believe it or not the inner structure is good. I guess i flexed in and popped back out. just dented the panel itself. so it should be real easy to just re-skin it. ;> the pile under the fender is rubber!!! panel to be installed

Latest pics. I know a lot of them look the same but a lot of the moc up stuff is final now and finished.
