  1. I think the 1.5K will go towards incidentals, driveline, rad, hoses, belts, AF, oil, filters, starter, WP, etc., etc. but it looks to be doable.
  2. Yeah, they are all right. If your good at shooting with big recoil, more power to you. However you may find that 1200fps is about right for best accuracy. Good info has been presented.
  3. Ten pounds off rotational, you talking engine, or drivetrain? Engine I'm assuming since it's what accelerates the fastest. You all know that nothing is as insane as WOO sprint cars for light weight, aluminum rears, aluminum spools, lightened gears, carbon fiber driveshafts, direct drive clutch, no trans, coupler to the direct drive box, super light cranks, rods and pistons and if it ain't made of titanium or unobtanium your in the back of the pack. And yes, there are titanium connecting rods. Probably correct, but there's a point where light weight and durability cross.
  4. Handgun competition with a .454, that'd be interesting. You might be competing by yourself, as nobody would stand next to you on either side. Wheel guns don't find alot of action unless it's accuracy off hand slow fire at 25,50,75 and 100. I used to shoot IPSC with my .45 which is switchbarrel in .400 corbon as well. I shot bowling pin with my .357 and I won numerous championships with that in slow fire as well, which is 10 shot groups. Other than that your looking at sihlouette shooting which is fun. Cannon is all I can say, damn cannon.
  5. So that's why you never hear your wife calling you! I shoot the .357 herrett with 180gr Single shot pistol bullets, non ported barrell, drops 'em pretty quick, never had one go farther than 20 or 30 yards.
  6. Larry, are you going to move before the mudslides or after? Oh, BTW thanks for the 30 inches of rain we had this year!!!
  7. Well, I've killed deer with my .45 and .400 Corbon, but that's not what I'm recommending. I've killed deer with my .357 S&W Mod 19, custom that larry took pictures of an posted, drives tacks. I've killed deer and antelope with the .44 Mag S&W Mod 686 with custom 10.25" barrel, comp, double crane locks, .007 cylinder gap (actually on all wheel guns I shoot that tight of a gap). Now for the meaty version. TC contender, .357 Herrett with a super 14 bull barrel, you have to make and load your own ammo though. Drops deer in their tracks! If you think the .44 mag kicks the 7mm-08 makes the .44 look like a pussy cat. The .357 is a little light on deer. The .41 mag is a great choice, not as much recoil as the .44 and alot more energy than the .357 at 100 yards. .41 mag gets my vote here in a TC contender or encore loaded with JHP bullets for the thick country. Lead slugs don't help you much if you happen to have an ill placed shot where a JHP will leave a blood trail.
  8. Giggalo, in demand everywhere. Try Las Vegas! Oh, wait, mechanic, sorry, well, both do it laying down, my bad. Ever think about having your own shop?
  9. Usually I make my own, unless it's going to go real fast. U-joints Inc. made mine for the monte with 1350 Ujoints, 4 inch heavy wall tube, two yokes, balanced for $250.
  10. Uh, the carbon around the arc tracks on the megasquirt resistor board indicate that at some point they were shorting out, whether it was at the race or otherwise it's anyones guess. The tail lights were shorting out and can be seen on the pinks video, so that's a fact. The wire was so hot that they melted the insulation completely off the wire for about 6 inches, and that was certainly during the race. Plugs, well, might of been part of it, but we'll never really know. I started the car and it was pig rich blowing black smoke, but later I found the boost hose to megasquirt pulled off and "other" issues. I'd like to see what the ol' L28 could do. We haven't heard from the guy who got the motor in awhile, wonder if he ever got it going? What we do know is that Garrett drove that car in remarkable fashion, shifted clean and did a bang up job. The other car guys are remisicent of well, I hate to say it, but distant relatives by marriage from arkansas.
  11. A muncie is not a high torque capable transmission, about 400 lb-ft is about the limit, not like the TKO 500 or 600. For the money you'll have in the muncie and the Gear Vendors, can't you buy a TKO and have the OD already?
  12. Yeah, Chuck Norris is going to be there. Maybe the two of you can find somebody to thump on.
  13. The fact that the car had to be jumpstarted was testimony to the fact that the alternator wire and it's corresponding solderless butt connnetor had, well, separated. That and the numerous shorts that were discovered post race probably contributed to the loss of the last race and subsequent car. I think if it were done right, it would have been a different outcome. I wonder what we could do if we did it right.
  14. What I'd really like to see is actual weights, on a pretty good scale of each engine and then post it as a sticky.
  15. Crap, Dan you were right, we can't let Mike out of his cage anymore! No telling WTF he'll do next! And this was what Monday night? Mike what do you do on Friday night or do we really need to know?
  16. Wow, and it's the big can of WD-40 too! The one with 20% more for free! Cool, I think I need one of those, maybe next year. So, Scottie, that makes you what 32 now?
  17. Either that or you never search......... Newbie!
  18. Back in the days, I had a set of .060 over 12.5:1 TRW's, .510 solid cam, set of ported 882 heads on a 350. Every time I rebuilt it I just got another block that was 0.030 or 0.040 over an bored it to 0.060, freshened the heads and let her rip. I never had a problem. Nowadays they can sonic check the block for thickness before you start for a nominal fee. Here it's $25.
  19. J-N-J guys, john and jerry, not sure which one is having a birthday, but happy birthday. HarrisonTX- happy 21, that means your buying right? Happy Birthday to all!!
  20. It would be interesting if the new gen motor weighed as much as the old gen 1 did. My dart blocks weighed 205lb each, but it still runs 9's so I'm happy. I suppose every pound adds up eventually. The bathroom scales are apples to apples, though, whether accurate or not the difference is what is important. Doesn't seem to be much difference. Pretty interesting.
  21. Mike your a post whore, I think your trying to run your post count up!
