  1. I did the unthinkable today. I bought a 509" BBC. Just do it baby!
  2. I think that Fram is bottom of the totem pole, the lower end Napa filters suck too don't they? Tell us Jerry the real story. I know wix is good, I use them and have cut them apart. Fram is cheapo junk worthy of nothing mightier than a 3hp briggs and stratton.
  3. Begs the question why would we talk you into doing that? I mean, we don't want you knocking yourself in the head saying "I could of had a V8!!!"
  4. You guys talking about using it with TIG or MIG or Stick? You have to be talking apples to apples here and talking using it for TIG.
  5. Have faith, seek and ye shall find. In others words "hustle boy!" Been there already, take your time, it'll all work out. Typically I start selling stuff, hustle a side job or two, and it kind of all falls together, if it was meant to be.
  6. It's just god telling you that you are destined to have a built motor and go faster. There is a reason! See you were piddling around with stock motors when you were destined to have forged pistons, worked head from Braap, and special zgad isky grind cam. Heed the words of the almighty!
  7. He didn't go very far, I'd track that sucker, slit his throat and mount his head next to the fireplace.
  8. Well, if you go kirkey like I did then you can afford steak and potatos the rest of the week. I typically put more $$$ into the drivetrain, but for track guys I would think the seat would be very very important.
  9. I went to summit store in Atlanta and sat in all the seats. Find one that you like, is comfortable and buy it. But that's my $0.02....
  10. I shipped the pinks longblock, minus intake, exhaust, turbo, flywheel, clutch and it weighed 315lb including the pallet. My guess is with everything it would be around 400lb, but there is has been several threads on this subject already. Did you try searching a few different key words?
  11. Well, actually, what has been kicked around is building 2 separate cars. Those plans are in the discussion phase only at this time, with one car being built at my shop and one on the west coast. One as a remodel of the original "pinks" car (except that it works) and a V8 powered car that'll stomp most anything around.
  12. I guess to each it can mean something different. I agree with you as far as street car, but to me the full interior monte is more of a true street car. Which means people like John shepard running 7's, granny shifting, in a DSM with full dash, one seat are truly amazing.
  13. Damn zgad, I guess the rules are pretty tight. Mike, I think the rules for this race on street car are basically insurance, DOT tires, mufflers, registration and insurance. If you live where I do, you can take a donkey down and get it titled, registered and insured!
  14. He can't guarantee reliability of a computer, I think he's just saying it's always worked for him. But if I touch it, it'll all go to crapola in a handbasket. I think it has a redlight guarantee, once UPS's redlights go out of sight from his house, so does the guarantee. Just kidding. No guarantees on used electronics is my guess.
  15. I'd venture to say if you really went budget with decent used heads, you could hit 9's on motor. Just don't expect it to last that long.
  16. I like the full interior cars better than a stripped version. zgad, you going to that street car race with your little terror?
  17. You must be kidding? You have a mechanical fuel pressure guage in the cockpit of the car? Tell me I'm reading this all wrong.
  18. The hairdryer looks alittle small for the car. Typically we like to see one that is so big it can't fit under the hood, hence the "form follows function" comment. Just cut a hole in the hood so it sticks out nicely where it can suck small children in. It's looking pretty good overall. The front pan is different from most I've ever seen, but it looks to help get air under the car, not keep it from getting under the car from what the pictures show. Was there a reason you made yours (assuming you made it I guess) and not buy one from like MSA?
  19. Well, since there were of no use anymore they were deleted.
  20. I think the way pinks works is that you tell them how fast your car is, like 11 seconds, 10, etc and you get paired up with a similar car. If you say you have an 11 second car and show up with a 9 second car you'll automatically loose if you run it flat out and smoke them by 30 car lengths. Sandbagging is one thing, but if you bring a 9 second car, you will be pared up with another 9 second car. Another thing is that it's gambling, you can loose, but the thought of winning is what keeps people lined up to race on TV.
  21. Why don't you boys put a v8 car together and go for it?
  22. Why not take a tubing notcher and take 1/2" off each end?
  23. Oh, that's another guy you don't want to piss off either.
  24. A hand picked set of rods would have been more appropriate for me to say. Just pick a set, and leave the copper colored ones out of your pick, if they have a copper coating then they were oversized on either the small end or big end. Have them resized and add arp fasteners, then you'll be more than fine for your HP level.
