  1. I don't think you'll have much luck with retaining that factory 4 bolt downpipe. I haven't seen any that have that.
  2. They didn't make that header, The owner of the Z had it made....somewhere....and they had to clearance portions of it since it didn't fit originally. The did however make the intake. http://tougefactory.com/shop/2016/03/christines-280z-project-part-2/
  3. I'd run the one from the 82. It has everything you need, and unless there is obvious visual damage to the engine I'm sure it's fine.
  4. That bellhousing will not fit an L series. It's made to match up to a CA. As NewZed said it's all the same tranny, KA/SR/CA all had the same 71c gearset (with some minor changed as pointed out). So if you wanted a 5 speed to do the swap, you just need to machine the L series bellhousing to make it work.
  5. Anywhere from $150 picked up for a set that needs work to $800 for a set that just got done fresh from ztherapy.
  6. It's the same work as swapping in a ka or sr tranny. The CA/KA/SR all have the same gear set, but different bellhousings to adapt to the block. So this link should be applicable. http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/240sxtransmissioninstall/
  7. I think that may be a ca18 tranny.
  8. I saw rally in the title and expected them to be on dirt lol. Awesome none the less.
  9. PM me if you have the early style tail lights and they aren't cracked. The late style have the black lines, the early ones do not. I would also keep the front strut tubes, CV axles and possibly the turbo hood scoops. That's really about all you can sell easily unless you have a large group of friends that have 280zx's.
  10. He also has very fair prices. And can include a lexan rear window kit for the hatch for like an extra $150
  11. The 280zx is wider, so without some grafting, it'll look funny. Never mind the frame and mounting points are different. But is it possible? sure, I just don't believe it's worth the effort, I've seen s13 240sx dashes in s30's.
  12. I know 3 people who were running an F54 3.1 stroker. They had the blocks checked before hand. These are also just street builds, so maybe 250whp max.
  13. You must not be good at google. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=n42+head+and+block+datsun N42 can be a head and block from the L series engine line. Most of the links in the lmgtfy will clarify that. As for the damage, I'd be more concerned with the straightness of the frame rails on that side. Your concerns about a crappy POR 15 job over rust is also very valid. You'd have to get underneath and check frame rails. From the look of the add, it seems it have at least the basics (seats, center console, and dash). What are your intended uses for the car?
  14. Z fever is near Tampa, I know not that close to you, but they have a really good reputation.
  15. Yeah going to Tahoe from sac, I was stopped and my tires inspected. I was in my subaru with snow tires so it was no problem for me. And there are definitely some parts around Wyoming above CO that if I was on all season ties, I would wish I had chains, but awd and snow tires got me through with no issues.
  16. I had slightly better mpg in my 280zx when it was "stock". About 25mpg. That was from Los Angeles to Daytona Beach, FL. I had a slightly larger wheel diameter and a 5 speed that I'm sure helped. Stock meaning, it was stripped, had a shaved non egr intake (with charcoal canister) and headers with a 2.5" exhaust system.
  17. Have you seen this thread? http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/105011-rota-rb-r-17x95-on-all-4-how-large-of-tires-will-fit/page-3 There are at least 4 seperate people in this thread with that wheel and 275/40 tires. You should expect a lot of trimming to make a 275 fit in front. Sunny Z posted that somewhere
  18. Scope creep is a serious problem I'm having
