  1. Porting what is that? Never heard of it, much less tried doing any of it. I heard it can be done by pouring sand down the intake manifold while the engine is running? I might have to try it on the tt setup!
  2. My Stroker NA motor uses the turbo 270cc injectors. I run 50 psi all the time through them with a MS1 ecu, with no problem dialing them back at idle, yet to get a good AFR they are almost 100% duty cycle at max torque.
  3. A rule of thumb. Titanium is half the mass of steel Alluminum is 1/3 the mass of steel The benifit to a lighter retainer is you can run a weaker spring, which in turn=more HP.
  4. I am a bit confused by your post. SO your looking for a specific alluminum retainer? Hopefully this isnt a street car, but rather a race motor that will get tore down often to check for the keepers being pulled through the retainers.
  5. For a permanant casting mold, it will be fairly expensive. Bolting and dowling the heads together was fairly easy to do on my project, the toughest part is the cam and timing system.
  6. Im calling BS. Unless I missed it, I didnt see what angle difference, but it only looks to be a few degrees difference. The problem with L's is the cam geometry. If you start angling the valve over more, your creating ALOT of moment arm force on the valve itself, not good. I would put one of my L series P90 ports up against there angled port, and I would bet there wouldnt be if any difference. I have not seen any BEFORE and AFTER flow numbers. SR heads dont flow a whole heck of alot for being a 4v engine either. PLUS, even if both heads flow the same on a flow bench, you have valve packing area, undernieth both valves on a 4v engine. Also, the L series is still a NON cross flow head, which you loose a substantial amount there also.
  7. From my Conclustions It looks like ALL 83's have hydro, to where late 82 cars have P90A heads that are solid, thats from cars I have seen or pulled heads on. I have I think 4 SOLID P90A's on the shelf, so they are pretty common.
  8. You wont last long............................
  9. Actually, HYDRO cams can be used in a MECH valve train, but a MECH cam cannot be used in a hydro setup. This is because on a hydro cam, it has a VERY steep initial ramp for a few degrees to all it to "seat" the hydraulic Plunger inside the lifter. If you do not have this steep initial ramp, like on a mech cam, the lifter wont ever seat and you will get bleed down during the duration of the on cam cycle.
  10. Here is my 17" wheel setup and ZG's. Cheap wheels too, about 500 bux.
  11. I even copied and pasted the title to my original post "Is there a way to search EXACT phrases" and it yeilds nothing.
  12. But would if I want to search for an exact phrase in a post?
  13. In the search area, I have tried different things like quotes, and still cant seem to get what I want for searching. Like If I remember a thread called "Z32 transmission bearing race" or those EXACT words in THAT order I remember, and I wanted to search for that phrase in that order, is that possible? I thought it used to be done with quotes, but doesnt seem to work that way anymore. Any thoughts?
  14. A good hot mig, will work just as effectivly, as well as weld better to corroded areas. With Tig, you have to get the head so hot, that it warps terrible, even with pre-heat, post-heat, and clamping. With Mig, you can clean it good, grind it, whatever, then weld, pein then you can litteraly take your hand and touch the weld, pretty much no heat involved. If you were to tig it, you would have egg shaped seat bores when you were done, etc. Mig and Tig both have there places in the industrial world.
  15. If your EMS can controll the duty cycle at idle, why would switching to smaller injecters help at idle? Should be able to run 17-1+ AFR on cruise already. Basicly all your stating is that you can run 87 octane usually, and add meth on top of that for boost?
  16. If you would of searched, and saw who previously bought these, you could of saw that two other memebers bought a set, and you should of PMed them to see what they thought. Frank280zx's comments, were, "They will make great table legs, on a custom table I am making".
  17. I would recomend a very powerful mig welder, and not tig.
  18. Lash pads can just be faced off, on a lathe with 883 carbide cutters, just make sure your lathe is tramed in correctly, so you get a nice flat surface to mate with the top of the valve. I have made my own lash pads also before, just have to know the correct steel and heat treat process to use. When you have a customers head that has to ship in one day, and you dont have the correct lash pad, you cant wait a week on shipping!
  19. Man, I am supprised to see one of my initial threads! Man, The flow numbers are a ton better now than they were back in late 2004, thats for sure. As far as the real life experements and flow bench numbers, I have both. I track race both my NA car and my Turbo car, both represent decent numbers. I use stock valves, to maintain port velocity. There are tons of tricks that get done to my heads, that I dont tell, thats just my nature. Like a quote from BRAAP. "My customers keep coming back, so I must be doing something correct".
  20. It would cost more to SBC your car for 300rwhp than it would to have a turbo L28 setup with 300 rwhp.
  21. The only drag strips are in Tucson and Phoenix. Flag doesnt have any (at 7200 feet, that just kills NA cars!) There are autocrosses held in flag every now and then though. Nice summers, COLD winters.
  22. Well 14mm setup, for production runs anyways, although, I can make them for whichever setup you want.
  23. Well, I can make room on my CNC this week or next, for those needing a rail. What is pallnet charging for rails? I think rail material is somewhere around 12.00 a foot, atleast last I checked with arizona marine thats what it was. I could make the rails for around 85.00 plus shipping, as long as we could do 10-15 of them. If only 5 or less, probably around 100.00 plus shipping. Does this sound fair?
  24. No, its coming out of the coil, no matter what. I say go to a smaller diameter set of wires, and see if it will spark then. You will get no spark if the VR is reversed, BUT MS will still see a signal.
  25. You will learn with HC setups, you kill it by stepping on the brakes and letting the clutch out, or by having a throttle solinoid that completly kills the air to the motor, so basicly your throttle stop screw rest on a solinoid that is kicked out when the key is on, and when the key is off, the solinoid closes so your butterflys will go 100% closed.
