  1. its his favorite spot to go moon surfing with a vestal sprite, on full moons, he does it about 10 times a year at that cliff....
  2. remember reverse is where 6'th would be on a normal 6 speed trans on these cars. (reverse on a 5 speed z trans is where the 6'th gear would be for say a 350z, camaro vette...etc)
  3. i would user an older STI driveline, makes mounting things a little easier.
  4. i remember when i was first getting into motorcycles there was a small canyon by my house with a dirt trail that ran along side the edge and once while riding the bike down the trail, i went farther down then i normally go and about 40mph i saw about 100 feet in front of me where the trail takes a left and the edge of a 350 foot cliff began, needless to say i slammed on the brakes, laid it down and watched the bike plummet off the edge, after that i have only driven/riden on canyons and mountains with guard rails, my current favorite is highway 74 that connects sun city to palm springs, if you can make it to sun city from the start of 74 in under 45 minutes you have truly earned the right to be called a driver.
  5. i can kinda agree with him, i wouldnt drive a z with rusted rails or floor pans, one hit and your done.
  6. now thats a tire! hope you plan on running power steering!
  7. If i remember it correctly (been a few since i've touch an L-series) all 70-83 heads interchange, so it should bolt up, just make sure to atleast clean out the SU's or rebuild them before putting them on, the problem i would foresee in doing a SU swap would be the distributor and the fuel pump.
  8. i would go SU to get a motor in and running without much hassle, then drive it around a bit and decide where you want to go from there.
  9. i told him it had a slight knock and probably needed a new head, doesnt really matter much anyway as i think he shipped it to the middle east.
  10. thats a VERY conservative estimate for the L-series i had 255k on my 81 and that car was ABUSED, three of the head bolts where broken, two of the cam tower bolts where broken, didnt change the oil the entire time i owned it, over heated it a couple times, was running super lean and would detonate in neutral and I'm sure the valve seals where going out also, still fired up for me every morning no problem, never left me stranded and ran great up to the day i loaded it onto the transport to its new owner! my old neighbor has close to 500k on his 280z and doesnt burn any oil and has never had any sort of real work done on it, minus a water pump change.
  11. probably brought it to socal and realized it doesn't have a chance in hell to pass cali smog and has no other option, but to sell it.
  12. the first crotch rocket i rode was a liter bike, i was like 15 and loved every second of it. Why i feel safer on a bike is that i am alot smaller, so i can maneuver alot faster and react alot faster and since theirs no cruise control or anything like that (just an ipod) i have nothing to do other then pay attention to whats around me and their future actions/reactions to their enviroment. its also nice knowing that you have the ability to stop VERY VERY fast if you know what you are doing and have a good reaction time and if you do know what you are doing you know you can brake hard to avoid the head on collsion and move out of the way of the guy behind you who was talking on his cell phone and is about to creme the guy in front of him. also not being afraid to split the lane, i have saved myself numerous times from being cremed, by splitting the lane to avoid being re-ended by honda's who where going WAY to fast for their own good. my first bike was also an R1 and lets say living by the words "ride like everyones out to get you and dont second guess anyones actions" have saved my life. I also ride very aggresively and ride ahead of traffic and will NEVER fallow the flow of traffic. I hope you have enjoyed this wall-o-text.
  13. if i remember correctly you need a hall effect type speedo sensor, I'm sure if you called autometer's tech support they should have the info.
  14. Hey if you want a clean roller to do a swap, I'm willing to sell mine as a roller.
  15. i would say dart or world products, as the "best" in the car world is what you can afford to buy.
  16. Hey I've got a VDO boost gauge that goes up to 10 bar. I think you might need it!
  17. get a manual valve body 4 speed auto, problem solved!

    240Z Hood

I've got a stock 280z hood, little bit of damage to the front right and has the vents unfortunately though, i would be willing to trade for the CF one + cash on my side or just strait up sell it, also I'm in palm springs so no need to worry about shipping it, dont dis the vents, you can make them look real nice when painted properly.
  19. I'll sell my sbc 240z for the right offer, keep in mind i have a small truck load of spares for it as well. i can sell it as a roller or complete. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v353/hoov100/v8%20240z/
  20. shoulda pulled the steering wheel and spoiler.. and superduner its marvel mystery oil that your referring too right?
  21. zcars: this thread is nine years old, was brought back from the dead in 2004 and again in 2009. I don't even think Myron comes on this site anymore, i think he has solved his issue by now.
  22. if you do take it and part it out i call dibs on the maroon interior panels!
  23. why didnt it fit? i have my motor in the scarab position with a 3" thick radiator, the taurus fan and a short pump and still have 2 inches of space.
  24. if you go with diamond wheels, i would HIGHLY recommend the 5/8 ARP wheel studs with the tapered 1" lug nuts. I'm also going to run 15x12 slicks with hoosier radials on diamonds with 4.5 inches of backspace to clear the inside of the wheel well.
