  1. I agree, I used to use zinc additives for my old engines until I started talking to this very knowledgeable oil guy at a car show, he wasn't trying to sell me anything, never even got his card, anyway he was explaining that the type of zinc that is used in aftermarket additives is the inexpensive stuff and isn't in a form that can really be used as a lubricant. He said if you want a high zinc content use a quality oil that has a balance additive package that is aimed at the kind of use that your engine is going to see, makes sense to me.
  2. That guy has been trying to sell that car for years, he just wants too much.
  3. Been a long time since I up dated this thread, since the last post I spun a being at the track, had the engine rebuilt. That's what the track is for, to break things. Over the winter got a chance to clean up some things that I fast handed last year just to get it on the road. The last oil analysis reported a lot of sand and dirt in the oil so I got rid of the K&N filter and picked up a real paper filter from a 2008 Mustang, You know I never liked that splitter that I made last year, it wasn't wide enough to reach to the sides, so had another go at it. I'm going BOSOZOKOU ! Made some new clam shell pieces to clamp onto the bottom lip of the air dam,
  4. That doesn't look like it would take much to get it on the road. Ron, is that the engine and ECU you put into your old Red 240Z many years ago?
  5. and how much weight did you manage to take off them?
  6. Drilling holes in things certainly removes some weight but in the case of rockers you are also removing strength, if those bend or break it could destroy the valve train, some pistons and maybe the cam. Hard to believe the Nissan engineers just threw more weight on the rockers for the hell of it.
  7. How heavy is it compared to a stock sunvisor, is it going to stay up against the headliner with out falling?
  8. Ironhead, love the work you're doing on the roll bar, do you have one of those jigs for cutting the notches into the tube or are you eyeballing it?
  9. I have installed two sets Zedd Findings floor pans and am assisting on a third set right now, never had any of the problems you are describing, all 6 pans have lined up perfectly.
  10. For anyone looking it's on page 14, Trackzpeed, I like what you did there, attaching the support where you did keeps that top piece from warping, I made my support into a splitter , without some kind of support that urethane air dam is useless.
  11. Any piece of closed cell foam will do the job, a $1.00 pool noodle is good for a dozen cars.
  12. You might want to check the archives for other members experiences with them before you do that.
  13. You may be able to re use your original pistons depending on what kind of shape they are in, the shop you use to rebuild your engine will be able to tell you if they are salvageable. If you want the engine bored out larger for more displacement then you will certainly need new pistons. How many miles on the engine, why are you rebuilding it?
  14. Tim, bravo on the battery area, it is a bugger to fix that section, actually bravo on all your metal work. I especially like the upper rad support, I wanted to cut mine out for easy engine installation but couldn't come up with a good way to re attach, now I know.
  15. The best way I have found is squirt a few ozs of Rain X into the windshield washer bottle so you can apply it anytime you like, saves some labour and works just as well.
  16. I didn't, the threaded studs that I welded to the bottom of the 350z sliders go through the stock mounting holes in your pic.
  17. I don't know about that, every new engine swap I do is always going to be the best one yet.
  18. The seat belt receiver, the part you click into is anchored to the seat but was useless to me since I was going with a different set of belts. I just removed it from the seat frame and tossed into the ever growing pile.
  19. and comfortable. The manual seats with no power are I guess about 35-40 lbs each.
  20. Yeah Mike at Whiteheads knows his stuff and since I pass the shop on my way to and from work I order my parts from them and pick them up on the way home.
  21. Don't know if this will help you but I tossed the stock sliders, cut of the tabs on the 350z seats and welded on threaded studs to the 350z sliders, easy install.
  22. If I crash the front of the car it's my fault, I'll get what I deserve.
